    Can't recommend this strongly enough. A couple pointers from someone who wasn't disciplined (and worked with undisciplined team members):
    -rename, tag, and file everything immediately. The more disciplined you can be about this, the better. You think future you will have more time to take care of this, but nope.
    -try to think how future you, and potential team members, will be looking to access media. Keep that in mind as you rename files. Katie laid out such a great approach here. I've had colleagues who insisted on naming files according to which camera/phone they used to record. Total nightmare for later. Impossible to find media without scrubbing through hundreds of hours of video or audio.

    Hey Katie - this video is SUPER helpful. I'm starting a blog and with that has also come content creation. The storing of videos feels so overwhelming for me and I have been dying to know how others are doing it. This was great. I follow similar practices as you for my camera roll and I also use Google Photos. One question I have for you is about your cloud storage - Google Photos. What do you do when you have a scenario where the photo/video isn't on your phone anymore and it's out in Google Photos. How do you find it? What I've found is that when I organize albums in my phone and add things to those albums - it's great. But then when/if I need to free up phone storage and I get rid of the internal stuff - it's a pain because unless I ALSO organize the Google Photos (which sounds like a nightmare TBH) everything is just in chronological order in the cloud... the photos and videos are out there, but not in the organized albums I had on the internal storage. Searchable, yes, but still not as easily used. Just wondering your take on this and what you might do to keep your cloud feeling as tidy as your camera roll??? Thanks!

    When you're adding it to your premiere pro library, where does that save? Intuitively it seems like it would add to your computer, which you were avoiding with the external drive?

    • @katie
      @katie  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      so the actual footage is not being moved anywhere when it is imported into Premiere Pro - Premiere Pro is just accessing/generating previews of it it from my hard drive (this is why you may notice if you move your clips from one folder to the next, Premiere Pro will need you to re-link that media, because it loses track of it) And the project file itself, as well as the auto-saves - I have set to save to my external hard drive as well :)

  • @FunsizeQue
    @FunsizeQue ปีที่แล้ว

    Do you think it's better to create a premiere pro template and add the assets in the project window, or adding the assets in your libraries on Premiere. I'm trying to decide what's the best way to save space on my computer. What are your thoughts?

    Hello, I just subscribed, I really like your channel that is really inspiring. I watched this video and many others. I watched "my content workflow" that made a kind of smart blueprint in my minde. Do you think you could make a video about every steps of making a video in detail with what you use to do so? There are so many, the scripting, making a thumbnail, etc. They can look so hard to be doing for beginners.
