It's been awhile since I've taken you guys on a toy hunting adventure, so today we are going somewhere very special... Tokyo's oldest "mom & pop" toy shop - Godzilla-ya (ゴジラや).
I'm also joined by special guest, and fellow expat TH-camr, Japan Book Hunter! This will be the first in half a dozen collab videos we've been shooting this month, so stay tuned!
Make sure to subscribe to @japanbookhunter too!!

Yoooo I just got into Godzilla and I found this video. Sick! 🔥
Thank you man! Love these videos!
great vid, would love to hit this place up during my travels.
Thank you for the video! Your guys commentary is always entertaining lol! That shop is super cool, just cool stuff in ever corner yet so clean and organized. I need to harness those cleaning and organizing skills for my collection!
Loved watching this so much. Always a fun and entertaining time watching you go toy hunting in Japan!
Glad to see you're alive and well. Really enjoyed this video. And ending with Cryptopsy was icing on the cake. Cheers from LA California \m/
It's great to see you out and about again!
Thanks for taking us along to another cool shop!
Your editing has a charm all its own. It never fails to make me crack a smile or unearth some unexpected, but much needed, chortle.
That outro alone had me grinning ear to ear.
Thanks for sharing your style and content with us all!
🙇 🙏 🙇 🙏 🙇
My eyes widened 👀 when you asked for the Sukeban Deka stuff. Best part in the video for me. Please continue the search for it man. 👍

Greetings from the UK 🇬🇧 - I watched a Japanese video on this store a few weeks ago where it was said the store might be closing - nice to see from your video it's still there (every week isca bonus)!
I've heard the same thing from the owner as well - but no definitive date from him when we spoke. I too am happy to have been able to visit there at least one more time and capture it on camera for an English speaking audience. Wish I had recorded my first trip there over a decade ago - it was still full of vintage Bullmark & Marusan back then, among other amazing items. Still lots of hidden treasures inside - just harder to spot them without doing more digging around.
@TOKYOTOYBANZAI 'bout time I bought a plane ticket!
Last year I stopped by to visit the owner of the store, he is very friendly and has very good prices. A few blocks away there is another vintage toy store but I don't recommend it. If you visit Tokyo, go visit Godzilla~ya
Unfortunately it probably won't be open much longer. There are also loads of vintage toy shops in the neighboring town of Nakano. There are actually a few other vintage toy shops in Koenji too - I've made videos at a couple of them as well.
Between your videos and the ones on Dancing Bacon's channel I definitely want to visit Japan and go toy hunting and vending machine visiting
I'll bring the Tully's....Snoochy booches
You know what they say, sometimes you gotta buy before you think lol. What were the other shops in the area worth hitting up?
Here's one! th-cam.com/video/qBBJyg9a6NI/w-d-xo.html
You'll have to take me again when we visit. I saw some things I would have grabbed. This place I remember being hard to find?
Not hard to find, it's directly under the train tracks... it's just hardly ever open. He is supposedly closing for good later this year too. Will take you!!
@TOKYOTOYBANZAI Oh no. We best go then! I would have grabbed that shonen cyborg!
so sick to see
Where is all the DragonBall Z stuff at?
Pillaged by tourists… mostly. More of that in Nakano Broadway, but overpriced now.
@@TOKYOTOYBANZAI Daamn that sucks. Was really hoping to find some over there still. Barely anything over here in New Zealand too
Dude! For real. The volume is not balanced and then you put a very loud metal song at the end with the volume cranked up! That is very dangerous, especially for someone wearing headphones. You can damage hearing like that. You could very possibly give someone tinnitus! I suffer from tinnitus and dont wish it on ANYONE. Please fix that.
I edit with headphones on, the volume is balanced on my monitor and headphones (metal is supposed to be loud). I even lowered the volume of the metal song. I doubt anyone can get tinnitus from that short clip. I have friends with tinnitus too. Sorry if it hurt your ears. That was not the intention.
Ohhhhhhh the famous GODZILLA-YA ❤is 3rd Uncle still around??
I think so? Need to visit there again too - it’s been almost just as long. Last time I was there I couldn't afford anything 😅
