In 2001, I had been to Melbourne. At that time, there are not so many diverse type of trains. I would thin that the train company(s) have improve alot on train transportation.
A lot of gains have been made to Melbourne's rail network since 2001 such as the introduction of new trains, various network extensions, station upgrades, grade separations and improved timetables with more frequent services. There are still many issues facing the network though including peak hour overcrowding, capacity constraints and various maintenance problems due to the ageing infrastructure.
At the time of filming this station was undergoing a major upgrade for the Regional Rail Link. I now have a video of the new station: th-cam.com/video/7tkeNSynhOY/w-d-xo.html&t
Having travelled on both networks I reckon that Melbourne's is better. Sydney's got good railway stations, good modern trains (M & A sets), relatively clean, few level crossings and better infastructure maintenance (so it seems), but overall Melbournes fleet is more modern (more features such as CCTV, PID's), better stations in the CBD, generally more frequent and serves more of the city compared to Sydney's. I also preferred travelling on Melbourne's single deck trains compared to Sydney's double deckers. That's all just my opnion though.
Lol nah, it's perfectly fine for something recorded in 2013. Sure the image stabilisation isn't great when zoomed in but the video is perfectly watchable otherwise.
For now days the Hitachi Trains look so old and industrial it just shows evolution.
another fantastic upload!

I think that MET, the train company, will install new computer system for the rail system to improve overcrowding and capacity challenges.

Sydney trains function and look better than Melbourne metro trains

I agree with you there, just wish the NSW Transport Minster stops budget cutting and screwing up the railway network.
Aslo Aso metro trains in Melbourne are better at Sydney because Sydney has a lot of crashes
very poor video recording or bad video focusing

Wdym the recordings fine
