  • In a long and storied career, Leo Eaton spent only a few short years with Gerry and Sylvia Anderson's team of puppet and special effects experts, but his time there was formative. In this interview, he shares stories from the making of Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons, Joe 90, The Secret Service and UFO as well as thoughts on his experience with The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and time in the orbit of renowned B-Movie maestro Ed Wood.

    About Us:
    About Me:
Century 21 Films Ltd is a multi-faceted production company whose work spans drama to documentary, miniature effects to puppet shows. It was founded by a group of filmmakers who first collaborated on Filmed in Supermarionation, the story of Gerry and Sylvia Anderson's hit puppet shows including Thunderbirds, Stingray and Captain Scarlet.
Since then, we have worked for a multitude of high-profile clients including ITV, BBC, Mammoth Productions, British Film Institute and the Halifax working on projects such Thunderbirds, Endeavour, Doctor Who and The Twilight Zone.
In addition to our regular filmmaking services, we specialise in ‘Supermarionation’ - the puppetry filming technique used to make shows like Thunderbirds and have collaborated with ITV repeatedly to provide specialised services. Our work has been featured on The One Show, This Morning, Good Morning Britain, BBC News, ITV News and Mastermind.

Wonderful interview - yes, Leo you *are* a legend 🏆🎖️ And while the camera work and special effects were top notch and have stood the test of time, let's not forget the music. Amazing themes and underscoring 😎😎😎

Super interesting stories and the sense of what fun Leo had really comes across. As a kid of the 60s these shows were a massive part of my childhood and this 'behind the scenes' stuff is so fascinating.

I saw all the Captain Scarlets recently and when all the characters being shot, crushed in car lifts, set on fire etc, I really wondered if it was suitable for children to watch, but as a child myself, I loved it.

U.F.O. was U.K.'s answer to the Invaders. Space 1999 or Blake's 7 was the answer to Star Trek.
Alas, Joe90 or Secret I have never seen , nor Anderson's Space Cops. Captain Scarlet - saw a few episodes, but came at a time when I was not the right age for it. Too bad public libraries or TH-cam doesn't carry them.

To use 60's / 70's parlance, Captain Scarlet was "dishy!" 👍😜❤️ ... Wonder if he'd be up for some, "no strings fun?" 🤣

I had completely forgotten about Secret Service until a few years ago when I began coming across Century 21 Slough docs on TH-cam. I don’t know if it’s available on dvd but I’d love to revisit it.
