I love this so much! As a little aside story, back as a child there was a small local rental store. Mostly for VHS, but there was always a small selection of Mega Drive games which I regularly rented on weekends. One day, with a Snes owning friend, we were browsing through the games and my friend light heartedly complained about there only being MD games and the owner overhears and chimes in with a playful jab, claiming MD to be better, so that's why he only stocks those games. Little did I know, he was a bit of a gaming fan, which I found really impressive given he was in his 60's! Purely Sega stuff for some reason, but as a Sega fan myself in the old days, it was something I'd always talk to him about when I saw him there. Some time later, I asked him what he thought of the odd Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine not having Sonic in it and he told me it was just an edited different game, and offered to show me it. Obviously I said yes, he goes in the back and comes out with his JP MD with Puyo 2 and he set it up on the countertop's TV and offered to have a little play with me. From then on, even though I owned Mean Bean, I was Puyo hooked! I became the annoying kid always asking to play when I saw him all the way up until he had to close the shop. I also regularly got into trouble during college by playing Puyo 2 emulated on the PCs instead of doing work. Started out innocently enough, playing it when I finished my work for the class, but addiction sure has a way of pushing itself into being what you do first! Plot twist: The orchestra's performers are just a bunch of Carbuncles with different colored gems on their heads. The real Carbuncle has his red ruby and is conducting the orchestra. Just imagine that in your head for a minute.
To me, this medley tells the story of a failed speedrun: The player sails through the game like it's cake until reaching Satan, at which point they are unceremoniously fed their own controller and ragequit in disgust as a result 😂
