    LOVE the kittens. I have 3 barn cats. One just showed up out of nowhere a few days ago and moved right in. Zero snakes. And, I've had multiple snakes in my barn because it's right next to my river.

    Love your cat photos. If you have coyotes: Please give your cats plenty of high ground (8ft plus) to sleep at night. Upper barn lofts work well if there's no direct steps the coyotes can access. Cat condo/trees are not tall enough. I'm hoping the horses help deter the coyotes from the barn. :)

    When I lived in south Texas we had lots of snakes and they were drawn to the AC unit. Where it dripped condensation they would get a drink. I have also always been told that pigs are good at killing and eating snakes. I love how y’all are building a great sanctuary for retired Belgians! Keep up the good work!

    Donkeys are good protection from coyotes, stray dogs, foxes and other predators. A loft would be a great haven for the kitties, as protection from those mentioned canine predators. I live on a small farm, and i keep my 5 cats inside my home. The mini and pony are spicy and big enough to keep coyotes away.

      Guineas eat the same things as chickens. They will lay a speckled egg. So I’m excited to see those! I don’t need cat litter because they are outside cats. They will dig a hole and do their business. Plus the barn has a dirt floor. I’m so glad you enjoy the videos. I’m working to get at least one out per week. We appreciate your support!

    We would like to have cats, but neighbors have tried and there are just too many hungry coyotes here. Cats only survive a few days, then "somehow" disappear. (Our place is in Southern California inland.) 🐱💓

    • @suzanne9622
      @suzanne9622 ปีที่แล้ว

      We have Coyotes here too. Coyotes will def be attracted to cats, chickens and not sure about guineas but I think so. Broadening beyond horses to chockens and cats you for sure put yourelf at risk if you have them in your area as we do. They will get every cat so you will need to protect them. I would bring them indoors. They wont stand a chance. I cant tell you how many kills we have heard on our property around 2-2:30 am when trying to sleep. It is awful and blood curdling. You dont want coyotes lookig at your place as a food source. They will get everu chicken too
      My neihbor across the stree lost her chickens to something we dont know what and it caused her to stop keeping chickens as the coyotes started hanging around.

    • @rodandjudibowen5665
      @rodandjudibowen5665 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@suzanne9622 Hi Suzanne! Our local coyotes are very brazen. They will climb over or jump fences and come around even during DAYTIME. So it doesn't matter if a cat owner puts the cats in for the night, our coyotes would get them. Or even small dogs (ours are large). One idea for chickens is to build a SIX sided chicken coop out of CHAIN LINK fencing. Not something flimsy like chicken wire -- coyotes will chew through that, or wood. Include a secure, double-padlocked gate. That way, if coyotes (or other hungry predators) try to dig under, they'll hit a chain link coop bottom. Blessings. 💓🐓

  • @erikm8372

    I know you said you don’t like snakes at all, but if you had kingsnakes around (non venomous and non aggressive), they scare away all others-because they actually eat all the other species of snakes, especially venomous ones like rattlers! Even rattlesnakes aren’t outwardly aggressive, until they get stepped on or bumped into; and that’s the issue with them. If a bite occurs on a human or animal, it’s probably already too late.
    But seriously-kingsnakes and milksnakes (another type of king) are your friends! If you see black and white striped snakes, and some with other other colors (look up Texas king snakes), those are your helpers!! Plus they act like cats with eating excess rodents. But they prefer rattlesnakes ☺️😅 The other thing to be sure or is coral snake vs. milksnake. Coral snakes have similar colorations but are venomous, and are also eaten by kingsnakes. They are normally yellow, red and black. With black faces. Milksnakes have some white striping mixed in, and just look a little different and bigger. Just saying!

    Enjoyed your video. I have few things to add because I have cats, lived on a farm. I would be concerned if you have rattlesnakes of them biting the cats. Also eagles, owls, hawks, coyotes are a concern. I would get them all neutered because the males will mature and then they will want to go seek out females. Be careful with machinery, in cold weather cats like to go where its warm and could get into engine or watch so don't run them over. Also probably flea medicine get from vet, not a retail because they are not good and have been known to kill the cats. Cats towers are the best, cause cats do like to be up high so they can watch whats going on. Sorry for long message but I love my cats. Keep the videos coming cause I like seeing the horses and mules, you and Cory do such great work.

    Just a friendly mention you as I know this to many might seem extreme &/or a waste but they make dog & cat gps colars that you can set up boundaries on & help locate the animals in the event you can't find it. Also lets you sort of explore what your pet did for the day. As awesome as it is that the cats have 40 some acres to explore there are roads & predators like hawks & even snakes that could hurt the dog or cat & no one wants to see the lil guys get lost or hurt. The collars aren't overly expensive they are like $5 bucks though either but they do serve several purposes that benefit everyone & the farm. After all you probably don't want them getting into something on a near by farm especially one you don't know & then bring it back with them to yours. Ok I'll stop being my over protective dog & cat person & go back to minding my own business lol. Great work.

      @@FletcherFarmsAmarillo Turkeys are omnivores eating plants and animals like mice, snakes, frogs etc. Turkeys will kill small snakes but not the large ones. A friend of mine died from receiving a snake bite from a very large Copperhead (according to the puncture wound span) at night after coming home trying to feed his animals outside in the dark. The snake was hiding by the water faucet and he didn’t see it when it struck him right above the heal after which he came crawling into the house looking for his pistol and his wife calling 911. He must have received a hefty dose of venom because his heart gave out and he died in the ambulance in their driveway. Jim was a large man, he was over 6 foot and an ex-marine that got injured in Vietnam which he survived, only to get killed by a snake.
      Our Lab got bitten in the face by a Water Moccasin early in the morning when I had let him out to go potty, took him to the vet because his head looked like he was a Bloodhound! He was given an injection and recovered fortunately. An other friend of mine was weeding her shrubs around her home wearing leather gloves when she got bit by a Copperhead that hid under leaves, her husband rushed her to the hospital 20 minutes away but alerted them that he was on his way with her and what had happened. She recovered fully thanks to her having worn leather gloves and not all the venom got injected into her hand, I have the utmost respect for snakes, trying to stay far away from them with the hope that I will never get bitten by one!
