I was a young buck in the Marines, and MTV was the latest, and coolest thing, when I saw the music video. Today, I was working out and this was on my playlist. I decided to spend the last half hour of my workout listening to this over and over, on a loop. It is motivating.
Great great version by Joe and the boys. I'm still partial to the 1982 version I saw live at Cape Cod Coliseum. Absolutely amazing performance at their height
I was there too! I couldn't believe how much I sweated that night. I saw the 1st and 3rd show as well as Elvis Costello and The Attractions in between those shows at the C.C.C.
@@megapulsar9244 Yes, I was expressing an opinion I hold. I never stated or implied that I was speaking for others. That is how opinions work. I find it puzzling that you felt it necessary to waste what I am sure is your valuable time to post such an inane and meaningless comment.
@@bluegregory6239 And I have no problem with that, except that it doesn't really look like an opinion in the first place. Like, you realize that the way your sentence is wrote gives literally no place for personal preference or interpretation whatsoever. Your comment, as it is right now, is literally an objective statement, not an opinion, as there is no element in the sentence such as "To me" or "In my eyes" or "I think", or simply just replace the "the" ("top 3 bands of all time") with a "my" ("top 3 bands of all time") instead, which would automatically indicate that this sentence is 100% a personal opinion. Hence why I felt like responding this to you. What I find puzzling if you ask me is that people actually voice/state their opinions without formulating them like opinions and then they claim afterwards that it was just their opinion when they get called out, but that doesn't quite work like that. You sure never claimed to speak for others, but that's literally what you did anyway with your comment (unvoluntarily I'm sure, but still), and that, as a matter of fact, is not how opinions work. So yeah, not so "inane and meaningless" as you primarily thought. Also if you really think posting a couple words long comment on youtube is a waste of precious time, then you have yet to see everything on the internet my dude.
@@megapulsar9244 Okay, point taken. It was not an objective statement of fact, which, given the literacy you display in this retort, I figured you would have inferred. After all, all statements about personal favorites are inherently subjective. As for your final sentence, I am a happier man for not having seen everything on the internet, which seems to me mostly a toxic cesspool of banality, ignorance, ahistoricity, and wasted time. Have a most pleasant weekend, and let us not further squander our time on this sort of pointless bickering. Cheers.
@@bluegregory6239 I do not doubt your sincerety on that, and in no way do I wanna offend you, annoy you or anything, I really do have better things to do than that, especially with online strangers (at leasut to those who don't deserve it), it's just that I personally kinda take it to heart that opinions should remain opinions and the truth should remain the truth, as those two things shouldn't mingle with each other so much this way, to the point of practically alienating each other or something, I'm sure you can agree that it certainly wouldn't be good at all for our society. Truths remain truths, opinions remain opinions, and opinions can be spoken and discussed about on the subjects of some truths or even other more subjectuve stuff. That's what I mean to convey. We certainly don't need much more of it than what makes us feel good enough. Nice week-end to you too dude/sir, and good luck.✌️
I gotta be honest as a Clash fan. As in they're my favorite band since 1978. I find that I prefer Joe & the 'Leros live versions of Casbah to the Clash's live versions. Having a piano to play the hook riff makes so much difference.
@salamango81 I know that the first line is about their record label. Raga was a type of music that could go on for half an hour and the record company were unhappy at their increasingly lenthy songs
the difference between drummers with an artful mind and just brutes without musical ability is: the former has dynamics , flow , feel soul , arrangements (even at a percussive level) the latter is just force ... and speed and nothing much else hich seems to be the case here. he should be drumming in the foo fighters or something like that .
The piano is the star of the show in this version, love how he plays the chorus.
The little piano riff is my favourite part in the song!!
The foundation Topper laid was definitely inspired
Absolutely. That heavy boogie outro is sublime.
RIP Joe. The Clash will live forever
James Rockford Joe lives on forever never dies
You can say That Again!!!
Delete Joe Biden! ...... Rock the Casbah! Rock the Casbah! ...... Delete Joe Biden!
😢😢😢
@@TheKeenTribe really? this is the place for you to be that asshole?
Joe Strummer sounding great on this one.
This song is a masterpiece
Chris Farley voice- that is correct.
Absolute Classic song n Joe Strummer what a voice.
OMG the 80's were off the charts ,this song and album ,I wore it out .

Even in the 2010's I was dancing to this in the club, such a party tune. Respect to you you fucking legends!
continuing 2020s

Love, love, love this version. Can’t believe I’ve never seen it. RIP Strummer, thanks for these gifts and memories.

Love the piano in this Version!
Absolutely fantastic version of this classic tune.....loving the piano
A true masterpiece!
LOVE THIS VERSION OF "ROCK THE CASBAH" ...
so touching that he acknowledged topper as co writing the song and also being an absent friend
The best live version ever
Idk, when I saw The Clash at Cape Cod Coliseum in 1982, the level of energy in that place was insurmountable. Never seen a show like it again
This man is charisma itself
And only three years later, Joe would be dead ... very sad ... I miss you, my dear ...
MY FAV SONG OF EVERY SONG
When my heart gives out.and it eventually will joe strummer will be in it.exactly where he belongs.
The Clash are one of the Top 3 Bands of all time.
In your eyes I suppose.

bad quality??? no way! I don't care about video, sounds great and synced
All videos recorded with a phone or with a regular camera look and sound badly. The never do justice to the real concert.
Brilliant version thanks 😊
Saw them live in Inverness Ice Rink circa 1982... Just brilliant !
You're so fucking lucky, I wasn't even born then...
Saw them at Cape Cod Coliseum same year. Fucking amazing show, energy was easy over the top
Best song of all time
The Johnny Cash of Punk
This man really got a soul!!!

This performance is more accurate to the studio version than what the Clash were doing back in the day.
Joe lives on forever never dies. My love
I miss him...
Love the way they played it here
Yes joe will be with us till we die
What a great song, 2020 and still fresh to listen 🤘🤘

I love this song and the Clash
Where are you brother Joe,? we love you.
Thanks for posting this, came in late , missed it. Was in the front row for rest of the show.
Puts to rest that it's a Topper Headon song, w/ lyics by Strummer.
This song has to have the piano in it. Agree it’s a better version than what the Clash were doing. Always loved the Clash live with organ.
Wow! So dope!
I will never respect any man the way I do Joe Strummer.
The man with the chocolate cashew caramel Lima-bean voice can tickle your ears if you’ll let him.
Loved the clash yes i was a mod but just loved this band

It was the manager Bernie Rhodes who complained about the long’ ragas ‘ not the record company
Now 57 D:
RIP JOE

This song sounds so much better live
Muito top
The most patriotic song ever written.
