Went to Divine Life Society Asharam or fondly known as Sivananda Ashram in 1994 as a 11 y.o kid. After 21 years I went there again with my parents in 2015. The ashram has undergone expansion ever since. The serenity one gets here, is like no other place on Earth i must say. It's truly a simple place to visit yet the tranquility vibrates through your heart. And being able to watch you video in 2018 brought back beautiful memories. Thanks Gabriel! God bless.
Not following to a specific religion does not mean a lack of faith. I am a extremely spiritual person and do not follow a specific religion, yet I am filled with faith.
Some spiritual people have faith. I am one of them. Spirituality is a part of the soul and is part of every person. Doesn't matter what faith they have or lack. Partnered with yoga, a higher undescribable consciousness can be reached.
The Sivananda Ashram is such a beautiful, peaceful and divine place. If you want to expirience practical spirituality and yoga you have to go to this Ashram. I really love the pleace and the divine teachings of it's founders - Sri Swami Sivananda ji.
Hey Gabriel Your best vid in ages. I like the 'older' ashrams like this. More genuine people and teachings I really enjoyed this one. Such an oasis from the Rishikesh road...I hate that road hahaha thanks mate!!
Some of the buildings in that complex remind me of how the projects used to look in Philadelphia, USA, during the 90's. What a contrast.... Its beautiful to see low crime rate. India really is Blessed. Are these ashrams open to the public??
Yes, the ashrams are generally open to the public, so you can just walk in there. But you would need reservations to stay for the night and be involved in all the daily activities.
i think this guy is a part hippie, doesnt subscribe to die hard hippie life style but i think he embraces certain aspects. i just want to add that the infrastructure of the 'ashram' shown is what is needed in the rest of the city, it is strange why indians just make temples and praying places of good quality, while the gutters are flowing, garbage is laying on the normal streets, rundown buildings with no maintenance. the indian subcontinent in general only decorate mosques/ashrams, temples and make them clean while dont replicate these qualities in the daily life as well. it was refreshing to see good pavements, nice well maintained clean buildings, no garbage and no gutter flowing for a change.
thank you gabriel.i was wondering what it was all about.now i know.and i love india as well.even though i would never baptize myself in the river.ha ha ha.
Its interesting how little nature is there, concrete everywhere, not a very appealing place to stay. My idea of a beautiful ashram is beautiful gardens and forests with beautiful humble dwellings.
It is on a small hill. If it were not concrete, there would be a lot of erosion. It was all natural earlier. It is heaven on earth. Jai Swami Shivananda!
you visited more places than any other Indians if you travel all over the year and I want to know that what is your Job how you will manage your money.
WTF is there in Gujarath? I mean Dhokla/Fafda.. that's it. It's a dry state (no alcohol).. no meat.. just because it was Gandhi's state. People (most of them) always thinking about money and ways to get others money..Food with loads of chillie & jaggery combined making it taste horrible.. most importantly it is feku's state - who fooled the nation by making false promises ( btw I was feku supporter before).. Gab- don't even touch this state with barge pole.. there are hell lot of better places in India ( and abroad) to visit.. don't waste your time going there. There the people (most of them) will just be after your money. That's it..

I really don’t get the infatuation of getting up so, so early at ashrams when it’s still dark outside. There’s plenty ot time from sunrise to sunset to do everything.
Do you know any Ashrams that do long term? I'm trying to dedicate at least a year to study and practice. I'm not financially well off to be able to pay, so looking for something free of currency. Any advice?
Question: If a Bengali and a tamilian be left in a room ,who will win the argument? :)Hint: topics will be Rajnikant,Tagore, language oldest, culture ,best city in india etc.

No, I've done the ABC trek twice already: th-cam.com/video/hLbhHk44y7Y/w-d-xo.html When I go back to Nepal I will plan to trek to EBC. But not sure when I will do that.
may I ask how much you decided to pay for the 9 or 10 day retreat you did in december? and did you pay them cash or how? thanks so much also for the very interesting video!!!! much love
It depends a lot on the season. October, November, March and April are the best months, warm and sunny. December to February is mild with warm or cool days and cool nights. May and June will be hot as hell. July to September can be monsoon rains or else hot and humid.
They operate on a donation basis, so it's up to you to decide how much you pay. That's how the Sivananda ashram works. Not all ashrams will be like that. Some might have a specific daily price.
Very nice video... but just a little correction.... Hindu is not a religion but a way of life..... its the sanatan dharma which is into 'seeking' than 'believing'.... oldest continual form of human civilisation !
It depends where you're from. If you're from the United States you can get a 10-year visa, but you can only stay for six months at a time and then must leave and can re-enter. If you're from many other countries such as Canada, countries of Europe, etc. then the maximum visa you can get is six months.

Serves the purpose..... A great place to learn about oneself and keep mental health well.
Now i know why your views are unbiased. It is good that you don't have any faith. Unbiased eyes can see the truth.
