      Thoughts on if fresh is not an option about using a Frozen Chicken?

      @@wobblysauce of course, i buy them myself when on special and freeze them. I simply leave them in the fridge to defrost the night before and they are good to go come dinner time when i put them in the pressure cooker :)

    Good tutorial on the pressure cooker as well Todd. As an 11 yr old my Gran taught me how to make Butter Pot Chicken. It's SO easy and yummy. My family's all time favourite chicken dish. Simply use dutch oven on stove top medium heat melt two sticks of butter place chicken breast down salt pepper turn over every 15 mins. At 30 min mark I add 1 sliced yellow onion reduce heat to medium low for another 30 mins. Always done by 1 hour mark meat practically falls off bone. At end of cooking butter becomes carmelised in onion so I slice chicken pour the butter onion on top. Great with garlic sour cream mashed potatoes and coleslaw. Cheers:).

    I have had my pressure cooker(the same model as yours) now for a few months and I LOVE it!! I especially love that I can be cooking a meal and not have to stand over the stove to watch it:) your chicken looks delicious! I can feel chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy and veg coming on:) Thank you for sharing!

      And thank you! I had an older one which is why i never filmed it. You know, those ones that gather grime on the outside after a while so not the best look. So buying this new one looks better in videos so expect allot more in the future :)

    Thought I'd try this for Christmas dinner. Followed to the letter - timed it perfectly - all the vegetables, gravy etc were done. The chicken was well undercooked (temp 90-degrees). Finally, 90 minutes later the chicken was cooked through to 160-degrees. Goodness only knows what went wrong there.

      I add a few carrots to the side. Adds a bit of flavour and it’s all you need if you are on paleo. I Stuff a few herbs, spring onions, in the interior of the chicken. I don’t tie up as I drink the broth and don’t mind the flavour coming out. You can use the broth to make rice,

    Dunno why you seared before pressure cooking and regardless searing garlic like this results in a bitter flavor.

    What temperature are you cooking it with?

    • @WilliamJones-Halibut-vq1fs
      @WilliamJones-Halibut-vq1fs 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Pressure cookers have only two settings: pressure and time. You don’t consider temperature. On the Phillips pressure cookers the pressure is set in kPa (kilopascal) in 5kPa increments from 0 to 70kPa. Normal boiling point of water at one atmosphere (sea level 101.3kPa or 14.2psi) is 100C. At 70kPa gauge pressure (171.3kPa absolute) temperature becomes 117C. This seemingly slight increase has a dramatic non linear effect and dramatically decreases cooking times by around 4:1. Don’t worry too much. Phillips have 20 preset programs and don’t forget there are only two setting in any recipe: pressure and time. Chicken is done at 60kPa for 15 minutes.
      The American pressure cookers use pressure settings of high, medium and low. If you have a recipe for a specific cooker you can convert to psi/kPa.

    • @VladSvoka
      @VladSvoka 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      William Jones-Halibut weird. My pressure cooker has just separate setting for temperature, it’s digital, goes from 40C (yogurt, warm food) to 160(frying).

    • @WilliamJones-Halibut-vq1fs
      @WilliamJones-Halibut-vq1fs 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Vlad Svoka mine is roughly the same: 40C yoghurt, 70C slow cooking low, 90C slow cooking high, 150C sauté. These are however not part of the pressure cooking settings. My sauté doesn’t go above 150C so it browns only slowly but eventually completes. I think some have a 160C and brown better.

      Then you clearly know nothing about cooking chickens. The last thing you do is wash a chicken before hand because the spray from the water will disperse salmonella and any other germs from uncooked chickens all over the kitchen. Its a very basic and well known fact.
