If you want to find out the biggest lessons I learned from decluttering ten years' worth of stuff, watch this video th-cam.com/video/eP9PcAQlELY/w-d-xo.html
You are on point with this video! I agree 100%. I'm about "you do you". I'm not competing with anyone. I am WAY more about keeping clutter at bay rather than having only the bare minimum of items. After a couple of years of decluttering, I am getting to the point of keeping my favorite things and donating my least favorites. I like the term "curating" when it comes to my handbags, jewelry and decor, even dishware. I want to keep the quality stuff forever and rid my home of junky stuff as time goes on. I guess I'm "minimal-ish". 😊 I hope everyone watching minimalism videos sees this one! ❤
I can see minimalism being toxic when someone tries to impose it on others, even their children. Rather than living by example, it's enforced by the controlling person.
Yes, I agree. I don't think it's helpful to force others. We can lead by example and if other people want to join us, that's great. If not, they are entitled to make that choice.
I have lived with every issue you have addressed. My current one is making sure 'my' diagnosed OCD doesn't obsess over the numbers. It is okay to be intrigued by the numbers but not do what I have done when I am anxious and worrying, unsure if it was 36 or 37 items and counting and recounting to 'check'.
I have always lived a minimalist lifestyle.Clutter has always gave me anxiety, even as a teenager.I do own stuff tho,as i say i live in a home not a museum.
Fumio Sasaki (who is a minimalist under anyone's definition) says you are not necessarily a minimalist if everything you own fits in a backpack or only has 100 items.
Very good to say this. I’m not a minimalist but I have been moving stuff on after children and life changes. I love the clean calmer look of my small space. I’m just doing this on my own, not expecting partner to get on board, but it’s had a positive effect on that person and they’re now simplifying their possessions. I glad you made this video.🐇🩷

Buying and owning less is also related to sustainable living, avoiding the cycle of buying, discarding and rebuying constantly. Great video 👍
Yes, I'm really trying to be more sustainable ☺️ Thanks for watching!
I absolutely love this video! All the challenges, the fixation on the number of things you own is not the point of minimalism!
Thanks so much! I'm glad you enjoyed it 😊
You used the word "humble ". Maybe that says it all. Have what you need, share when you can, and be happy with both😊
Yes, that's a great description! ☺️

Thanks so much for your lovely comment! The word 'curating' is great - I think it really ties in with the intentionality of minimalism 😊
Balance….moderation….is healthy
Yes, balance is the key to a lot of things in life ☺️

Very true. I think it can be hard to not focus on the numbers when so many people do.

Yes, clutter affects me too. I feel more relaxed in a less cluttered space ☺️

Yes, I think if we get fixated on numbers, we're missing the point of minimalism.
Fumio Sasaki says you can develop "get rid of everything" disease.
Yes, that's certainly not what I want to do.
Mine was being unable to handle a pile of papers on a table, I try to leave it there for at least 1-2 days to get back to reality
Yes, I think sometimes it's good to step away and have a break if something feels too much.
Also, the heart jumper is adorable on you.
Oh thank you! Yes I love it - definitely not decluttering it! ☺

Thanks so much for sharing your experience. I really like the clean, calmer look. I feel more relaxed when there's more space 😊
