Great images and video Scott. Simple techniques explained really well mate. I must get myself a diffuser or a bounce card. Thanks for sharing the video well done 👍 🙏

Thanks Adrian, I was very surprised with the results and could possibly get even better images with a different lens. The Pentacon gives me weird results for infrared images which compliment the ghostly feel but it isn't the sharpest. All the best mate, have a great week👍

Very interesting Scott. I have heard that reversing a normal lens can be used for macro but have never seen it done. I think image B was the Sony macro lens as it has more detail but as you say if someone is just starting out and wants to try macro without investing in an expensive macro lens then using a reversing ring is an excellent cheap option to give it a go. Also good to see a cheap but effective diffuser for the flash as well.

Thanks Paul, my choice of lens could have been better as the Pentacon isn't especially sharp. If you happen to have an old prime lens that is tack sharp lying around the comparison with the sony would be much closer I suspect. Thanks for watching mate👍

A very interesting follow on video from your first macro teach in Scott, find a 50mm to be a good size lens to experiment on reversal mounts, with zooms usually find extension tubes a better option (too easy to catch the lens glass on a sharp object when you have no filter protection while adjusting the lens ) . Love the dramatic music alongside the shots. One more thing that can give a little more dramatic punch on certain images is having an experiment with the "vignette" option in post. As you found there's always something new to learn in this game mate ! 👍

Thanks Glenn, I honestly didn't expect the results to be as good as they turned out to be. I would also note that this Pentacon lens is not noted as the sharpest so there is a lot of potential to improve results further. Definitely scope for lots more experimentation! Thanks for watching mate👍

Great Video Scott Love the Image at 09:05, it is a well proven technique, I remember it being discussed at Camera Club at High School (a long time ago), Great information, Thanks for sharing

Thanks Tony, I thought I'd better give it a try as expecting someone to fork out hundreds of pounds just to try macro is a bit steep. Have to say I was surprised at the results and I could have improved them with a tack sharp vintage prime. The Pentacon is definitely not in that category!! thanks for watching mate 👍

Excellent video Scott. There is no doubt that the expensive setup has the edge but for someone just waiting to do a few macro shots on a budget the reverse lens works great. There just seems more blurring of the background in the expensive setup as well as a little more contrast. Great stuff, cheers Keith.

Thanks Keith. I was really surprised with the result, especially as the Pentacon lens is not very sharp in itself. I suspect I could get closer to the Sony lens result with a sharper prime lens to work with. Thanks for watching mate👍

Scott, can you post the correct name for this ring?
      Thanks for the video.

Scott, brilliant video, just love the method of reversing the lens with the ring, a superb way for beginners. Something I would try. Also something to get to grips with before thinking of going for a proper macro lens. Both comparison images are great, was the Sony image B? As always thanks for sharing Mate 👍🏽👍🏽

Thanks Lee, I was extremely surprised how good the results where which meant I spent hours messing around with it as it was so much fun. You should also note that this Pentacon lens isn't the sharpest so I could get better results with a more highly rated lens. Thanks for watching mate👍👍

Great video which I found really interesting. I liked image B better more detail but a would be acceptable for beginner macro.

Thanks Karen, to be fair I suspect I could have produced even better results with a different lens, possibly 50mm. The Pentacon isn't especially sharp. As you say if you want to give macro a go without spending a huge amount of money you can get some pretty impressive results. As you guessed B is the Sony image👍
