Hi Thanks for the great review. I have had my A3 for a few weeks now but have only had a chance to fly it once as where I live we get very strong winds, and I am talking 50mph at this time of year. Next week it looks like the wind will drop and I am busy charging all batteries up. My problem is the transmitters built in battery. I connect it to a charger and it turns on automatically and the green battery light on the RC screen starts flashing indicating that it is charging. After a few minutes the screen shuts down and when I press any button it turns on but the green light has stopped flashing indicating that the battery is full, I presume. However if I unplug the USB charger and plug it in again the light starts flashing again until the screen shuts off again. How do I determine when the transmitters battery is actually fully charged? Any advice please.

Thank you again for an excellent detailed first look at least for me of the Xioami a3 they really have done it again it looks like < I say that because i'm really not a fan of APP driven controls drone and since this controller has it's own built in FPV plus the fact that it also has 2 slot for sd cards one oin the drone AND one on the controller itself great feature. As you were changing the flight modes even though n it was running low on battery resources I did notice how stable it flew around you for it's size also . Looking forward to seeing more testing of it's features as you said in future videos. Standing by ???
@@Quadcopter101 Ok, I'll pre-order me one then, thanks. Next question: As someone that has crashed every helicopter I've ever owned into a bush, will I be able to get this drone to stay in the air?
Have this on pre order hoping it ships soon i noticed Banggood was canceling some pre orders since shipping date keeps changing. I'm really second guessing this drone for fact of significantly shorter flight times than advertised and also that very annoying sound it makes, not to mention for slightly more money the Fimi X8se is soon shipping with folding arms and 4k with a 3 axis gimble. Bravo for all the new choices as of late. Love your reviews.
The X8 is quite a lot more expensive than the A3. From Banggood they are £222 and £401. And the Mi 4k at £337 is still a very good option if it's size isn't an issue.
@@bjordan180ify But X8 at $399 was a sweetener to get the sales moving and it's out of stock on the Fimi sight now. Its "regular" price is $499 so you may have got a bargain.
Hello, tanks for the review it's great, and I have a question for you, do you find the way to fix the weird noise? For now that is my first concerns to not buying the drone, it looks like need PID tunning our maybe new propellers like I see in others comments, if you find a way to solved that can you make a video explains how you do it, thanks in advance. Hi from Portugal here, hope you understand my English 😌😁
@@Quadcopter101like you said supposedly... , waiting another video showing that fixed our you fly again with that new firmware and can give and answer. Thanks. 👍
Yes, you need a video card. The card should be inserted into the C5830 camera so that it can record video. And here is my review of the Bugs 8 Pro th-cam.com/video/FWt1HUVrOBw/w-d-xo.html and another review th-cam.com/video/FWt1HUVrOBw/w-d-xo.html
I'm concerned with the battery time on the controller. If I purchase a second battery for the drone the controller wouldn't have enough to fly it again.
I think that the controller warning is a bug in the controller's software. I think that the controller meant to alert that the drone was low battery (instead of the controller). The controller still had plenty of voltage left (was showing almost full). But the drone was definitely depleted at that time.
Thank you very much for all your work , thanks to your reviews I have bought few models that you showed out here on your channel , so thanks again, and by the way I like all your shits , it shows you are a very optimist guy. Take care and keep up the good work
Cracks me up people saying its a DJI killer, I have got a Spark and this drone, its a nice toy park flying drone and thats about it, the Spark wipes the floor with this in every department and you cant say well what about price? the Spark costs more because its a better drone, the camera in the Spark is much better, its not soft and unsharp with poor colours like the fimi, the Fimi doesnt have the advertised range either, if this battery was LIHV wouldnt they ship it with a LIHV charger? Pros for the Fimi - Price, Video quality (compared to others at this price) Cons - Poor range, not the advertised battery life, Built in screen very hard to see in daylight. Overall its a nice toy drone, it has average image quality and very average range, its certainly a good buy amongst other toy drones but I dont see DJI worrying at this point, they might when the X8SE starts to ship if that lives up to the hype.
Valid points. BUT: - The fimi has realtime DV video and you don't have to rely on shitty wifi transmission and choppy FPV. - You don't need the DJI app. Or any app. Many people with Android or iphone devices for example, have issues with the Dji app. - The fimi comes RTF with a controller. If you want to buy the Spark controller, you are ripped off. Plain as that. - The footage is good enough to correct it in post (Premiere, FCPx) AND if you can adjust the exposure with the controller. The reason? 60 MBPS h264 encoding AND 25 fps options which can be easily converted to 24p. Try that with the 30p, 24 mbps of the Spark. Please...
great looking drone for what it is...and now they have a X8 WiFi one, WHY they went with WiFi/Cell phone crap I do not know...they could have went small and had better features and without WiFi need....had better range and better video etc and still had a monitor/FPV ability in the controller....as you said WiFi issues/cell phone issues have been a big headache for so many as they tend to drop out causing dangerous situations Keep up the great reviews you have been doing this is one I may look into even now in 2021...LOL
Hello, I love the review. But the pic quality has some bubbles in it. Does it has an HDMI output for monitoring purpose? I have seen in the advertisement, just want to conffirm?
No it does not. The controller has an analog AV output port. The recorded video on the onboard microSD card is digital. But keep in mind that the transmitted FPV video is analog 5.8Ghz. Thus HDMI output would be of no benefit. However, there is a benefit to analog FPV video in that there is no frozen video or blank screen which can be a safety issue with digital video. Instead, at extreme range, analog video becomes scratchy and bubbly, but you can still see a picture for safe flying. If it was digital, the screen could freeze or entirely go blank which can be a problem.
it was a very informative video and I did learn plenty. I'm a newbie in drone flying and am ready to purchase the drone you recommended. Recently I became interested in aftermarket antenna's when researching goggles for flying drones. It didn't occur to me that both drone and goggles could benefit from aftermarket antenna's. 1st, let me describe what equip. I am interested in purchasing : Drone : Xiaomi FIMI A3 5.8G 1KM FPV With 2-axis Gimbal 1080P Camera GPS RC Drone Quadcopter RTF - 5.8G FPV Goggles : New V2.0 Version FXT VIPER 5.8GHz Diversity HD FPV Goggles 2nd, some people have mentioned or obviously replaced original antenna's w/ 2 different aftermarket antenna's on the goggles (patch on 1 side & circular polar on the other). Question : What is your opinion on this technique ? (benefits, pro's / con's) ? 3rd, all that said, what is your antenna recommendations for setting up my 1st drone system, (goggles & drone) as I have described above ? Thanks you very much for your generous consideration, sincerely ............................
First off, you are not going to see any improvement in using circular polarized antennas with the Fimi. CP antennas are primarily for racers that fly in many orientations (even upside down). The CP antenna helps to maintain a constant spherical transmission beam in these extreme orientations (it doesn't increase range). The Fimi only flies flat, and would not benefit from the CP antenna. The best way to improve range is use the stock antennas that come with your fimi and goggles. But focus on maintaining proper orientation of the antennas. The following guy gives a good discussion on the subject (albeit a bit dry) th-cam.com/video/VPXt4suGnzY/w-d-xo.html
@@Quadcopter101 .... THANK YOU SO MUCH. :) This is perfectly the type information I'd like to hear. I just wanted to eliminate risk at the distances projected. @@Quadcopter101 ... Okay OM' :) After the amount of basic research on drones that fly long distance and periods of time, I found you :) I took your advice, researched the Fimi A3 and started saving my money for the recommended version. It was not until I started researching goggles that I ran into the issue of antenna replacements. Although I heard and understood that signal loss would be greater where gaps in coverage (signal dispersion) were, I didn't put together that racing flight and level video site seeing flights were 2 different animals completely. Once you emphasized that aspect, I totally understood your point that aftermarket antenna's wouldn't enhance the Fimi significantly, even though they may strengthen signal (w/in it's capabilities) at awkward angles in relation to the transmitter signal. I live in a very rural, country setting, wrapped on 2 sides by a 150 acre farm w/ 20 horses and 40 cows and woods on the opposite sides :) I wanted to be able to video the horses and even see if my neighbors were cutting grass or out and about. I'm not racing but would like to fly 1000 m or 500 m to start w/ and build up a bit if possible :) I can't tell you how much it means to me that you would spend your time addressing my questions and helping me understand before I buy :) Again, thank you so much for your very generous consideration and efforts in helping me understand, Sincerely ........................... What type of charger did you say? pls.
Also what type of antenna to use for a long-range and clear video for fpv goggles and for the controller as well? pls
Thanks for the great review and all the best man.
This is the Hubsan Zino Killer! Thanks for the video, looking forward for more Xiaomi Fimi videos hopefully you will get its big brother the Fimi X8 se too
not sure if you guys cares but if you guys are bored like me during the covid times then you can stream all the new movies and series on instaflixxer. Been streaming with my brother these days =)
@Eric Landon Yea, been watching on instaflixxer for since december myself :D
@Eric Landon Definitely, I have been using InstaFlixxer for years myself :D
Sorry for my basic question. Return to home function make the Drone come to Landing position or where is the Remote controller?
it lands at its original takeoff point.
@@Quadcopter101 Thanks. Can I do for drone land where i have the RC using this safe landing mode in stead of takeoff point?
Is it raw or edited??????
So what charger should I buy to get fully charged drone battery?
Tnx for this informative video , I am a dji spark user from the Philippines . I am considering of buying the A3 as well . great features at a much cheaper price .
Hi QC1. With the analog video, and this might be a dumb question, since you can use goggles, can you also use a 5G phone?
Nope, those that use a phone are using digital WiFi. This does not use WiFi.
@@Quadcopter101 Then a portable analog monitor would work? Cheaper than goggles.
Just having a problem with the only option for FPV being the proprietary screen in the controller. Kind of an 'all eggs in one basket' thing...
@@denkn Yes it would. If your monitor is capable of receiving the 5.8Ghz FPV racer bands, then it will works with this drone.
@@Quadcopter101 I see those are available for anywhere from $25 to $300... That's great ! ! !
You may have just sold me on this Quad if they start shipping again...
Thank you sir...
Is it possible to change the controller to Mode 1 in the menu?
What is that weird chirping sound when you first take off. Sounds like the props are out of balance or something.
This is the first release of the A3 with its original firmware. An update to the firmware corrected the chirping.
Hi again,
please, how to connect the drone with fpv goggles?
Much appreciated for any help. Cheers
Turn on the drone. Turn on the 5.8Ghz analog FPV race goggles. Select scan function on your goggles to find the drone's video signal.
@@Quadcopter101 Thanks very much for that. Now the only thing that l didn't done is : to calibrate the gimbal horizontal fine tuning. Do you did it as well before first fly?
can i use my phone charger adapter to charge remote controller? or should I use USB port on computer?
Use your phone charger for a faster charge.
Every time I watch one of your videos,I feel like I'm on location at "Area 51"....Now we all know where all those UFO sightings come from.....Also thanks for demonstrating that analog ALWAYS smokes Digital any day of the week in these applications.Wished it would just come back!
Been waiting for this video
Does the telemetry display on the goggles screen?
No it does not. That's why I was using my FXT Viper goggles. They allow me to view immersive FPV on their screen, while still allowing me to also view the controller screen.
@@Quadcopter101 You need to connect to your google with the AV out of the remote which can generate the OSD info
Hi, thank you for your video! Does this drone have waypoints navigation feature?
That is the one thing that it does not have. As this does not use a phone, there is no way to enter waypoints.
@@Quadcopter101 Thanks for ur reply. Can u please advise (around this budget) about a drone with gimbal and waypoints feature?
May I know if camera can be dismantle from drone ? Thanks
Standing by ???
what's better this or the upair one?
How long was the FPV maximum distance?
Tnx for the review, i thinking og buying it or maybe later reserve my money for FIMI X8.
Hi, thank you for the review. The video of the flight (big screen) was recorded on the drone or on the controller?
The drone, the controller is the smaller one
Is this thing available anywhere? I'm only seeing pre-order, although it seems to have been out for about 4 months. What am I missing?
Xiaomi is having production issues. But eventually these will reach the shelves, and I think it will be worth the wait.
@@Quadcopter101 Ok, I'll pre-order me one then, thanks. Next question: As someone that has crashed every helicopter I've ever owned into a bush, will I be able to get this drone to stay in the air?
Not bad, I plan on this being my first camera drone, It looks really good for $280
Quadcopter 101 , nice video and review .. can i ask you about which firmware is used in the quadcopter , the original one or you have updated it? :-)
Original, as I got it out of the box. But I just updated its firmware and will be doing a second review in the very near future.
are the lines in the image from the props?
@@kennethpearson2938 the X8 is only about $120 more direct from Fimi site. I pre-order my A3 from GB
@@bjordan180ify But X8 at $399 was a sweetener to get the sales moving and it's out of stock on the Fimi sight now. Its "regular" price is $499 so you may have got a bargain.
Like Video! PS: Telemetry not registered in the DVR? :(
Hello, tanks for the review it's great, and I have a question for you, do you find the way to fix the weird noise? For now that is my first concerns to not buying the drone, it looks like need PID tunning our maybe new propellers like I see in others comments, if you find a way to solved that can you make a video explains how you do it, thanks in advance. Hi from Portugal here, hope you understand my English 😌😁
I just updated its firmware for its second review. The firmware update supposedly fixes the problem.

101 need help,I have a new bug's 8 pro new camera and class 10 SanDisk SD card it won't record video, do I need to get a video card ???
Yes, you need a video card. The card should be inserted into the C5830 camera so that it can record video. And here is my review of the Bugs 8 Pro th-cam.com/video/FWt1HUVrOBw/w-d-xo.html

I still fly this one at the park. Its a lot of fun.
Hi, please give us a review on the new "Xiaomi FIMI X8 SE". Thank you in advance!
It's ok I have the drone and the battery lasts for like 4 hours
Thank you very much for all your work , thanks to your reviews I have bought few models that you showed out here on your channel , so thanks again, and by the way I like all your shits , it shows you are a very optimist guy.

Hey guys i want to gen into fpv. From where do you buy your parts for your drone?
Onde cuestión recording FPV or in micro SD?
Well detailed sir, good job👍
Help me sir my fimi a3 drone is unable to enter GPS mode
which is better than zino?
Cracks me up people saying its a DJI killer, I have got a Spark and this drone, its a nice toy park flying drone and thats about it, the Spark wipes the floor with this in every department and you cant say well what about price? the Spark costs more because its a better drone, the camera in the Spark is much better, its not soft and unsharp with poor colours like the fimi, the Fimi doesnt have the advertised range either, if this battery was LIHV wouldnt they ship it with a LIHV charger?
Pros for the Fimi - Price, Video quality (compared to others at this price)
Cons - Poor range, not the advertised battery life, Built in screen very hard to see in daylight.
Overall its a nice toy drone, it has average image quality and very average range, its certainly a good buy amongst other toy drones but I dont see DJI worrying at this point, they might when the X8SE starts to ship if that lives up to the hype.
Valid points. BUT:
- The fimi has realtime DV video and you don't have to rely on shitty wifi transmission and choppy FPV.
Please...
great looking drone for what it is...and now they have a X8 WiFi one, WHY they went with WiFi/Cell phone crap I do not know...they could have went small and had better features and without WiFi need....had better range and better video etc and still had a monitor/FPV ability in the controller....as you said WiFi issues/cell phone issues have been a big headache for so many as they tend to drop out causing dangerous situations
Keep up the great reviews you have been doing
this is one I may look into even now in 2021...LOL
Your best review ! Why ? Because the main feature of the drone done indoor not in the desert xaxaxaxaxaxaxa Thanks for the review
Wow! I like that controller!! All that is lacking is OpenTX Amber voice pack 😘
What about maps - anyway to use maps?
Sorry, this does not have mapping capability.
i have an Hubsan X4 Desire Pro and it seems a lot easy to operate and set up.

This or the Zino?
it was a very informative video and I did learn plenty. I'm a newbie in
drone flying and am ready to purchase the drone you recommended. Recently I became interested in aftermarket antenna's when researching goggles for flying drones.
It didn't occur to me that both drone and goggles could benefit from aftermarket antenna's.
1st, let me describe what equip. I am interested in purchasing :
Drone : Xiaomi FIMI A3 5.8G 1KM FPV With 2-axis Gimbal 1080P Camera GPS RC Drone Quadcopter RTF - 5.8G FPV
Goggles : New V2.0 Version FXT VIPER 5.8GHz Diversity HD FPV Goggles
2nd,
some people have mentioned or obviously replaced original antenna's w/ 2
different aftermarket antenna's on the goggles (patch on 1 side &
circular polar on the other).
Question :
What is your opinion on this technique ? (benefits, pro's / con's) ?
3rd,
all that said, what is your antenna recommendations for setting up my
1st drone system, (goggles & drone) as I have described above ?
Thanks you very much for your generous consideration,
sincerely ............................
You covered 1/2 the distance w/ a very satisfactory result in your video review.
Thanks again for your generous input :)
sincerely ..............
I'm not racing but would like to fly 1000 m or 500 m to start w/ and build up a bit if possible :)
I can't tell you how much it means to me that you would spend your time addressing my questions and helping me understand before I buy :) Again, thank you so much for your very generous consideration and efforts in helping me understand,
Sincerely ........................... P.S. will you do a review on the Fimi X8 soon ?
@@stephboeker7835 Fo what you wish to do, look into parabolic antenna reflectors to improve range. Of course you have to pay attention to pointing the reflector in the general direction of the drone. You can buy them commercially, or make your own th-cam.com/video/GqAXzSTL-is/w-d-xo.html
