supp maybe try to add more sand? idk but they are probably moving and tunneling into the sand at the bottom part as ants dont really like light and i think that that part has lesser light than the thinner part on top
That's so cute. Mine do that as well, dragging sand anywhere they think might be in danger of flooding. I've been just leaving them to it, because I noticed they change their plan a lot, and a few of them can be doing one thing for a while, and others working to a different plan, then they somehow arrive at the optimal plan that suits them. Along the way, they give the impression that they are having a wonderful time building their sandcastles all over the place. Mine are currently ignoring a soil area at the back of their terrarium which they were meant to live in, and like yours, playing about with tunnels of sand in the outworld area. They are a lovely colour, those ants you have. I'm guessing fire ants but I could well be wrong.
@@Skavop thanks! I think they were supposed to be harvester ants, they came from Colorado. They sure are fun to watch, now I’m wishing I had a larger habitat for them. Maybe next time…
