But - can it do more than just speed runs?

That fan is for cooling the Famous Porsche flat 12 engine......not aero like the Chaparall 2J Fan car(or the new McMurtry Speirling fan car) .....though they existed in the same decade. Some great historical Porsche videos on YT😎

YESSS! Exactly, just because its a speed car doesnt mean that its incapable of doing other things. Love the bashing session and it looks like it holds slides very well

I really don't do speed runs anymore. Crawling has taken over. But... $200 for what you get just might make this happen. Nice little street ripper. Can't imagine this thing on 4S or even 6S. Another great review Troy.

The tires and chassis couldn't put the power down on 3S - so 4S and 6S would be crazy until some suspension tuning is done.
I also don't do much speed running, but just bashing around on the street is a lot of fun with this.

At least somebody from the first-line-TH-cam-testers is not only bluntly driving this car only straight up and down… meanwhile we are quite exhausted 🧐😂😊 from one speed run after the other, and again and again… actually quite boring…🥱😴
OK, drifting a car wildly around on a huge place, does not say to much about it actual race-performance, but your footage is better than most of the other, just straight speed running it… 👍
If this concept car is just made for speed-runs, we believe that equal results can be achieved easier and less cost intensive…
However, if the 917 is meant to also be a capable on-road race track car, just like Rlaarlo themselves started to give the impression with some short video-sequence, people should start trying to use it in this direction, also…😉🙏…to see, how it can handle a race track…
But in our first assumption, we would be quite surprised (of course in a positive manner…😉), if the 917 would be at least in some way competitive compared to other race-cars in the same category…😉🧐

Unfortunately, I have no actual race track near me. Otherwise, I would certainly go there!
From my limited experience, I would also be surprised if it could keep up with purpose-built race cars. Too much additional weight here. Lights, spare tire, aluminum chassis, etc.
Looks quite nice RTR car. Body is fabulous!

Hello Troy, for first thank you for your all content which i really love. My metal Rlaarlo roller is ordered in pre-order but still no info :-( Can you please measure the battery tray?
I hope that i fit there standard hard pack or at least short pack 2S. Standard short pack size 95x46x25mm and 138x46x25mm as normal size. I plan to solder there 4 or 5mm bullets, or 5/4 combined connectors.

Did you line it up with the typhon again once you put it on 3s? How did it do?
We tried...and the Typhon battery was dead. Boo!
Based on the speed gained, I think it would have beaten the Typhon then.
@@RoadsideRC seems so... might be a close race with the typhon on 6s.
RC Robinson recommends untangling the transmitter wire, so you will be less likely to lose signal and crash. *John Robinson RC

The controller is DumboRC I believe.
It doesn't look like the DumboRC controllers I have purchased.
80+mph on 4s and stock gearing for the $. cant be beat. now just wished theyd send out the preorders for the people who ordered and spent money on the preorder.

Did you see the box. I thought it was kind of comical saying it could achieve speeds up to with additional gearing and electronics it is a sharp car but I got duped I don't care it's still a sharp-looking car
Yeah - depending on what spec you get, I don't doubt it could do some of those numbers. But not my version straight out of the box!
Darn. You skipped the part where you turn the controller and the car on and then all the lights are blinking red. We're still trying to sort that part out here.
All of the light on the car are blinking red? Which lights specifically?
If it is the receiver, then most likely you need to rebind the radio to the receiver - instructions should be the manual.
@@RoadsideRC There were two red lights inside the car blinking. We messed with the knobs on the transmitter and the lights turned solid red. I'm still worried they're supposed to be green, but I can't find anything about it in the instruction manual and the car zooms around.
The manual is super technical. It's like something from the 80s, not a modern instruction manual written for normal people. It's close to useless if you aren't already fluent in the language of rc electronics.
I wish they would change the name of the company and make it much more appealing. The name makes it sound cheap if you know what i mean? Other than that the car looks sick af! Throw a head lock gyro in it.
I really struggle with say the name.... sounds like am screwing it up every time.
Do you have any 1/10th scale on-road racing clubs near you? How about competing in on-road racing with it, instead of making it a drift pig?

The controller and receiver are 100% dumbo RC
It doesn't look like my other Dumbo controllers?
I think so also, it is smaller version of Dumbo RC. But i like this smaller design so much. Receiver looks exactly the same like Dumbo. I got sometimes lost connection between transmitter and receiver when i used Dumbo receivers with integrated gyro (X6FG in "orange led mode"), including very short distances. But never had problems when gyro was off. I think that with gyro, there is so many informations via cheap China radio in the short time and that was reason...I completely switch my cars to Spectrum radio and then no problems. But have micro receiver on zip tape and changing in more cars with different profiles on radio. They are not a cheap to have in all my cars at the same time :-D
I would probably compare it to the VXL 4-Tec 2.0 from Traxxas, but maybe even more performance oriented. This thing really does look like a blast and, like you said, it looks like a very robust platform.

Only thing are the spare parts. For Traxxas, you can order and buy almost everywhere and get it in week. From Rlaarlo i will wait 1-2months. Like when i wanted X-12. Its only issue which blocked me for order the better version than metal roller. Also when i buy Limitless V2 roller, i have no problem with spare parts. Because Arrma is also everywhere. So we will see :-) i wanted AK roller for put own electronic inside. I looking forward so much.
Does this come with dog bones or CVD's? The manual shows both.
It comes with both! :)
CVD in the front, dog bones in the rear.

Yeah, the 'media kits' look awesome. What the ordinary people like me are gonna receive tho? Thats the question (and about the controller, they are rebranded DumboRC remotes)
I expect yours would be the same, accessory kit, etc. Based on my prior experience.
@@RoadsideRC I heard many youtubers saying that they receive this or that, because its the media kit, it will not be in the normal kit.
