    Thank you for the plug!!! Brought back some great memories flying to my old airfield. In that video I totally messed up as I was in the low level airspace above me at 1,500ft. I was at 1,200 or something like that. I switched too early to the QFE and climbed 30 seconds too early, which resulted busting through level by a few hundred feet for a few seconds! 🙈🙈

      Your video really helped me when I regained my PPL, so thank you for the honesty! It taught me to give a nice wide berth around airspace, and more importantly to watch that QNH. I was very paranoid on this one!

    In a (fake) deep and dark sounding American accent: "Danger Zone, Danger Zone, Danger Zone."
    In a wimp English accent and sing-song tone: "Clear Prop".
    Man card gets out of Noel's pocket and walks out of cockpit.

    Hey Noel, great Video as always fella. Ref Gaydon, yes it's the former RAF Gaydon, but these days it's home to JLR and Aston Martin for they research & development work, and they both use it as their test track. Wish I'd have known you were coming to EGBW as I might have been able to pop up and say Hi!! Maybe next time! Stay safe chap.

    That was a fun video. I always enjoy comparing procedures in the UK with those here in Canada. I chuckled at your comments about self service fuel and share your frustrations. For the first 20 years my home field had an attendant at the pumps, so no problem. For the past 10 I have been at a field with self service. Each refuelling is an adventure that can feature such challenges as no receipts, a credit card machine that sometimes that refuses to work and a hose that sometimes decides to spontaneously rewind in the middle of fuelling. We call it the “anaconda.” Cheers

    Another fun video...I was surprised how little communication with ATC almost all of the flight until the tower to land....interesting....loved you fueling...do you put your cc in before or after you pump the fuel.....shocked me whilst driving in France on the motorways fueling first, then going in to pay. (That ended in the US in the 1970's!) Lol

    Noel I’ve been meaning to ask you if there are any flight plans you submit that require you to ever lock-in the nav radio to a VOR/DME or NDB? as part of your planned route or to help you navigate ever? Thanks and love the channel!

    • @FlyWithNoelPhilips
      @FlyWithNoelPhilips 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To be honest, I usually work on GPS all the way. I'll tune the VORs for reference, and for DME, but unless the GPS stops working, I probably wouldn't rely on radio nav.

    • @nickpapagiorgio5056

      @@FlyWithNoelPhilips that makes perfect sense especially with operating a small plane like myself I rely mainly on gps but do you use them as waypoints sometimes?

    • @FlyWithNoelPhilips
      @FlyWithNoelPhilips 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      At these airfields the best you can get is the nearest big airport, then look at the windsock as you fly over for wind conditions. You can also use things like smoke from chimneys as a reference.
