Honestly man you do the most thorough, consistent, and well thought-out reviews I've seen on TH-cam and it's a service to us all - thank you. Would be glad to support the channel if you get a membership or contribution account set up. Cheers.
is it weird that I find your channel way more relatable to others due to the fact that I'm at a similar skill level. Seems way more realistic for me and relatable. Awesome work!
I started skating a Toy Machine deck four months ago that I had three or four different trucks on and a few different wheels before I found a combo I liked. Some combos of especially trucks and decks just don’t match up that well.
Well said- I just switched the deck (only the deck) and already a HUGE difference but sometimes it feels like you’re going crazy and it just doesn’t “work.” Lol.
@@Skatebetter exactly. I think I’ve figured out Thunders for me. I need a steep kick deck with no more than a 14.25” wheelbase to feel like the deck feels good to me when I’ve got Thunders mounted.
@@RikRiorik i think your DEF onto something here!! Excuse my excitement and i had to verify, but i just realized two of my favorite all times decks the Hockey and Primitive both were 31.8 length with a 14.25 wb. I guess it’s another thing I’ll have to consider more when buying decks now 🙄 lol. Thanks for this!
@@Skatebetter kewl! I love the hunt for that sweet spot setup. I’d never have thought you didn’t really enjoy that Polar deck. You’ve got some really sweet hang time on your tricks.
Skating a Polar deck on thunders right now and feeling the same exact way you felt about the pop and how the dip in the tail affected it. Having trouble ollieing onto stuff and haven't really gotten used to it after 2 months. I'm tempted to throw some Indys on there and see if it makes any difference but I'm not a fan of how they skate. Otherwise it's been a great deck, just wish the tail didn't feel so dainty, got me wondering if Polar has a shape with a fuller less tapered tail.
I’m glad someone else agrees- it’s easy to think you’re just losing it sometimes lol. I was thinking Indy’s also or maybe actually Ventures might do it some justice.
@@Skatebetter ok so I just ran a quick experiment figured I'd share it with you lmao. So I was skating this deck on team thunder hollow light 149s and my theory about the pop is that thunders push the wheelbase back a little too far. I swapped them out and threw some Indy hollow light 144s on it this morning to see if there was any difference. noticed an immediate difference in my yield and the consistency of pop. Felt wayyy more controlled and consistent. So I think because Indys sit a little higher, that weird dip in the tail actually has a lot more travel, so the snap is a lot more consistent. Take that with a grain of salt, but I think this shape goes better with a truck that sits up higher like an Indy or maybe an Ace. I still had some slight issues during my sesh today, but it was a big improvement.
Love this super helpful video. All valid points covered and I'm super happy that the comparison of the other decks was shown. Very informative on the concave, pitch and that divot space. One plus I'm finding with Polar decks is they're readily available at most shops.
Funny enough Ive been looking at April decks. I just happened to come across a Weekend deck first that I really liked in my size. Maybe I’ll review April next!
Slightly rounder than average, with and average length. Nothing super special- if you check out my “deck setup” video for this deck I do a comparison with some other noses if that helps! :)
Hahaha seriously my dilemma. I used to think doing deck reviews was super valuable with things like pop, durability, and shape- but honestly so much of a decks success is about personal preference/setup it’s almost not worth it.

I appreciate that a lot my g! Thank you

Not at all! I’m glad it’s relatable and I feel the same way about a lot of the channels I follow myself. :)
Nice review ! As an IT engineer, I agree with only changing 1-2 variables at a time. This goes for any technical discipline.
I was also an engineer in my previous life- couldn’t agree more!
Your reviews are so thorough! Thank you, keep them coming. Making my deck purchases much easier
That’s what i like to hear! And thank you my g. :)

@@rickyrojas6147 i have some Indy Hollows- I’m def curious to throw them on and see what happens!

They do seem to be popping up everywhere! thanks for the comment my g
Love the graphics on this board!
Do an April Skateboard Deck Review :)
Funny enough Ive been looking at April decks. I just happened to come across a Weekend deck first that I really liked in my size. Maybe I’ll review April next!
I feel like the few polars I’ve had were only good for the first month something about them feels off to me
Exactly- like the wood felt dull or something.
What do you think about the nose on the deck?

Try limosine max Palmers company best boards out right now
Love Max, would def try Limosine- I like their whole team pretty much.
Nice fs shove!
Thanks my g! I feel like most of us have that one trick that just works better, and for me it’s the FS Shuv for sure.
No experience with their decks but I definitely don't recommend their grip tape.
Word, it felt the same as dgk grip to me, good for a week or two then it turned to butter lol
I heard they print on jessup
My friend had a same thing with mob
Good to know- thought I was going crazy lol.
Yea mob usually labels there grip in the shop 1-5 and 5 is the most grippy but I actually hate too much grip it throws off all my flip tricks
Why this got so underated
thank you my g 🙏🏻
just buy the deck again and get used to it. keep switching brands sucks
