Am leaving this comment here so that I can come back to it 10 years from now when I have achieved George's and my dreams coz I am he that he refers to when he says that he is doing it for the future generations. This guy's work has partly raised me to be the man that I am today. When I am lost, I just start listening to his voice for directions and guidance. P.S. Thanks George
This guy is absolutely brilliant. Been following him for a few months now - amazing talent, with some real thing to say. So refreshing from the nonsense we're spoon fed these days. Hats off to George.
absolutely love this guy. seen him on jools and was captivated by his performance. I actually only watched the show for Beady Eye and Miguel to be totally honest, but I am SO glad I came across this man. His message is what I strongly believe and to see and hear him tell it in such a powerful, moving fluent art format of poetry was magical. The future..
Big up George The Poet, I've been following his music for a while now, happy to see him getting all this exposure, cause he talks SO much sense. Salute!
I love this. That simple rhyme of "craze/phrase/phase" is where most people would stop, pat themselves on the back and think they are a lyrical genius. This guy takes it so much further. And he has a kind face as well.
That was beyond fantastic. Whilst I'm sad I only just found out about you, I'm so glad that I'm subscribed to BBC so I get to see this and become a new fan :) Keep it up and I hope you continue to rise :D
I first heard george a good while ago on channel 4's random acts. He is so inspiring check out his other work 'blame game' and 'my city' are my favourites
People complaining that BBC charge 200 pound a year for the tv if you watch it there's always interesting/entertaining things on there there's no adverts and they've charged since day one and been around since day one so really have no right to complain...
Interesting, beat poetry turns to rap and now back full circle, I haven't seen anyone doing something like this outside of jazz clubs in decades - and he makes it relevant too. He's OK just now, but I can see him getting better as he matures, hopefully into so Gil Scott Heron type character
not to overate him but PLEASE check out more this guy's stuff and i assure you, you will realise he is better than Jill Scott...this guy is so good that he adds street slang (hopefully u understand them) in order to ensure ppl from where he is from get the jist of the whole thing too. I have heard many a poets and he is defo the best in terms of combining rhymes with a stinging message
Although he is good, there is literally about 20 black poets in London that can do exactly the same thing, props to him for getting this much recognition but there's so many that need the same appreciation.
it took this long for someone in the music industry to come up with a genius idea, for them small minded people who say poetry isn't going nowhere, the page your on right now is living proof
I saw George for the first time on 'Later with Jools' & was blown away! Just got the deeper messages listening again, which doesn't seem to be that strong in previous versions of this poem. I found Liam of Beady Eye a pretentious parody of himself... Dull & predictable with nothing to say but the usual whining BS... Move over and allow the new talent through!!!
It's so they can afford to produce the stuff. They make money from the rest of the world with DVD and merch sales as an extra so it makes financial sense to allow these little things to be seen for free.

Great memories, what a talent this man is ❤
My buddies saw George play at the Royal Albert Hall; they said it was as if they were listening to a prophet. Everyone was mesmerised.
As a man in his 50s, I think this poem explains a lot about.... Lovely

Absolutely wonderful. "This craze of a phrase is hopefully a phase."
I am so proud and inspired of this young entrepreneur. Live and Love in empowerment 🙌🏾🤗

Wow!
Well done!
Excellent poetry .......the part about shortsighted etc is so true
Please look up rap/singer message in his new song Rekico Lost Generation
Wonderful stuff, reminds me of Kate Tempest.
Does this guy have an album or anything? Was the standout for me on Jools last night
Just brilliant.
Is it just me, or does the piano track sound similar to Dilated People's 'Worst Comes to Worst'?
Yes. Was thinking where it sounded familiar
This shit is dope man keep it up
cool~

i thought this guy was suli breaks......are they linked or anything?
Give us a list, we'll check them out
I think it depends how much spoken word you have watched, what experience you have of poetry - there's plenty of this type out there.

Sik, thats sampled by Dialted Peoples - Worst comes to Worse
Ooosh
No because he isn't a hip hop artist...he's a spoken word artist. It's like saying "He's hardly Liam Gallagher is he?". Pointless comment really.
Who's been eating the mic?
Yeah, 20 other people in London could write the exact same song/poem....
HE wrote this, so why not the recognition?
How are they meant to fund such programs?
He hasn't the desire to rap; he isn't an musical artist first.

It wasn’t a phase
I would like some change, like a shop keeper. - Obama.
Dilated Peoples melody on the keys ...worst comes to worse ...nice
Oh, ok. I'll stick to my Bob Dylan. This childish rubbish gets me down. It's beyond laughable.
fuck this is sick
Amazing
