The amount of 2 wheelers in South East Asia is bonkers. And they take them all over the city scape. It does make you wonder what the UK would be like if there was a move to 2 wheels.
This has been a great video and you've hit the nail exactly on the head with me. I've been thinking of getting into motorbikes again after many years away from them, but there's something that's stopping me.. It's that final push of just going out there and just doing it, that's stopping me. I have a full licence and enough money to buy one but what stops me is the nagging doubts of safety and bad weather. There's only me in my household and often find owning a big car somewhat pointless. Watching videos like this though has just pushed me that little bit closer to bike ownership again (i blame you Spicy lol)
I hadn't ridden for 25 years or so. I passed my test in 1976 and rode through to the early '90's. In March last year I took the plunge and bought a Honda 650. I went on a back to biking course before I picked the bike up, and any lingering doubts I had were soon swept aside after spending a day riding around North Wales. I hadn't felt so alive in years. I was bouncing, literally, when the ride finished. Like you, I had nagging doubts about safety, but after being back on a bike for a little over a year now, it's not something that concerns me anymore because the pleasure and fun of being back on two wheels is so good.
@@sproutandkidneysoup2296 That's good to hear and yet another little push in the right direction for me to get a bike again.. Yes totally agree that motor bikes somehow make you feel alive when out riding.. Whether it's a 125 or a 1000cc the sense of freedom is something that can't be explained to anyone who has never ridden before
Completely agree. I started riding 5 years ago. Best decision I have ever made. Met loads of people, ridden in many countries and I’m so much happier for it.
I've got a car and a bike these days and for me that's the ideal garage because you're covered for every eventuality. Cars are fun to drive, and I've had stuff like a 2 litre, 6-speed MX5, but bikes are fun in a really different way that you cannot describe to someone who hasn't felt it
Hi Spicy! Great video. Your channel was one of the key channels that made me decide to become a biker. I used to find the biking community quite intimidating; and when you start to express an interest in bikes, its very daunting going into a bike shop not knowing anything about bikes at all. But I did it, got my CBT rode a lexmoto venom for about a year, did my direct access and got my 1st big bike a Triumph 955i Sprint RS. Then that got written off at a roundabout due to a car driving into me, I broke my shoulder and took a break from riding for about a year. Just got back on, and bought another sprint RS, and riding her back from portsmouth..I cried in my helmet all the way home with joy. I have had all sorts of fast cars and nothing, I say nothing compaires to a bike..Anyway I am starting out on my channel, drop me an email if you can send me any tips on developing it. I need more video eqipment, but hope to have a decent channel built soon!
I wanted to ride for years and years, did several CBTs because wasn't sure. Then decided to stop wasting life not riding, eventually passed and the ONLY regret is not doing it sooner. Spicy is so right and it's my own space to destress and get some perspective. I'm lucky and riding is a hobby and choice but dont wait and wonder work at getting training, tested and geared up!!!
I am 66 years old currently riding a Honda PCX but going to go through DAS very soon and looking to ride either a HondaNC750 or CB500X the CB is looking favourite. ZI have been bitten very deeply by the bug and love being out riding in sun, rain, sleet whatever. I find car driving now bores the hell out of me.
some really useful and thought provoking stuff here Spicy.......a must for the potential rider and just do it. One point is that riding schools do not always do a pre start assessment of rider knowledge....I turned up for a CBT and had never been near a bike, whilst others on course had ridden for yonks.....frustrating to all and I could have given up there and then.....
Today, I went for a motorbike ride with 2 friends and we covered around 100 miles. Not only was I clear of mind afterwards, I had burned a load of calories and passed a huge amount of bikers, gave them a nod, got a nod back. It is the best for mental wellbeing and a hell of a workout. For anyone unsure, do the CBT. It gives you an idea what it is like and will give you a taste on what it is like.
I did my CBT last year and have my das booked for end of August ( test centres should be open by then) . One of the major issues I think about getting into biking is the lack of ability to be able to practice and just have fun on a bike. What I mean by this is I live in Essex and there is only one place I could find in the county where you can hire a 125 for a day to go out and have a ride around, there is also no kind of bike days where you can turn up without a bike hire one ( a 125) and just spend the days driving round a track or on round a paddock having fun and getting used to being on a bike. Doing your CBT is all well and good but you can pass and still not feel super confident and having somewhere where you can get your skill level and confidence up before you hit the road would be helpful to a lot of riders.
I totally agree with you. And the thing i find strange is, you can have a day's training (cbt) then you are cast off to go and get on with it on the public highway. Whereas after passing your DAS, there are various advance training courses you can do to improve your skills!!!! This makes no sense. I'd prefer further skills training and an opportunity after my CBT to become more competent and confident but like you, I live in Essex and now I'm trying to think of a quiet place I can take my 125 (when I purchase one) to practice and get familiar with the controls again (did my CBT a year ago & then began saving for a bike)
@@naughtycoolsailor1240 Last year my daughter went to North Weald airfield for a supercar driving experience. Whilst there I notice a load of people in small bikes going round a track. I have been watching (most) of your 'Getting in motorcycling' videos over the last few days. Re-watched the one with the chap who was your instructor last night.
In my first year of riding, fresh out of my CBT. old man bought me my first YBR125 and its definitely a new experience, coming from somebody who always said they would never ride. the hardest part is that its easy to get lost in the modicum of information that's out there, especially when it comes to maintenance, while does stress you out initially, gives a good satisfaction upon fixing the issue In concerns to everyone riding bikes? I totally agree, but i also believe that people not riding bikes (car drivers in general) SHOULD take a CBT at the very least to understand and maintain the mentality of a biker's perception, in the sense that they wouldn't be a dick on the road to bikers if they understood what they were doing (primarily because the amount of people that get arsey over filtering is unreal), but could possibly reduce road accidents when everyone knows the same rules.
The only reason why I can't get a bike is because of where I live, my garden is like a 3 to 4-foot drop from the road/pavement so it's next to impossible to get a bike in and out of there, plus in my area bike theft is huge. But... Recently I've been looking at building a ramp to get in and out of my garden and it seems very possible with the right planning and measurements. Also been looking at getting a mini shed type of thing to store the bike with a secure lock in the garden. So I guess the moral of the story is, there is always a way to get a bike. Edit: I've been into bikes all my life but because of where I live I've had to reconsider getting a bike and instead getting a car (which would have cost a hell of a lot more and been well over my original budget) but with some encouragement from family and friends I've decided to stick with getting a bike even if that means making some adjustments and taking the "long route"
If you don't already have a car license at the moemnt, you can't get any driving lessons unless you're a key worker. Most of the driving instructors are restricting that further to NHS only as well. However, most of the motorcycle riding training schools should now open. So a motorcycle might be your only option if you want some form of transport. Don't forget that if you do already have a full car license, and passed your driving test before feb 2001 you can ride 50cc on your license. For anyone who passed their driving test after feb 2001 if you do the CBT course, you'll be able to ride 125cc for a year, but also activate the 50cc part of your full car license. Allowing you to ride 50cc forever, with no L plates. www.gov.uk/motorcycle-cbt/car-driving-licence
I got my cbt last month because my mrs kicked me out and I needed it to get to work (we’re back togather now happy endings an all) but I will says it’s one of the best things Iv ever done Iv only got a 50cc moped a speed fight 1 1997 it’s 2 years younger than me! But if you are thinking of getting one make sure you get the right gear. I fell off yesterday at a roundabout in rainy Manchester I had to hit the brakes pretty hard but lost grip and came off, the one day I didn’t have my gloves. Luckily I only have a small blood blister and a sore thumb hands wise but I have a concussion from hitting my head my hip is bruised and my whole body just aches and believe it or not I was only going 15-20 mph. Don’t scrimp out on gear don’t wear a t shirt and shorts if it’s warm even on a 50 cc, I would be a lot worse off if I didn’t have some decent clothing on. I would still recommend getting a bike if your smart enough to look after your self and others on the road it’s great just stay safe people :)

Passed my test eight years ago, and it was my only form of transport. I can say I've only had one truly scary, oh shit moment were a young girl in a fiesta almost took me out. "Touch wood" Never had a collision with another vehicle. Come off trying to ride in snow twice. I really don't consider it anymore dangerous than driving a car.
Spicy, I've been watching you on and off for the past 4 years, and only now your editing is actually great. (Please fix wind noise, if you can check out RJs setup). I really believe 100k subs is coming your way. Peace :)
Hey Spicy, i have an interesting story in theme "bikes are dangerous": I don't own a car for a long time, for 15 years i have only my bikes. When i ride i feel safe. A few days ago someone asked me, that do i have fear when i ride my bike: I sad no, but i showed the brand new car what i ride when i work, and i said: That thing is freaking me out. The steering is like turning a potentiometer, breaking is like stepping a sponge, acceleration is just like incidental...there is no feedback for anithing, that is dangerous.
I wish it were that easy to get riding here... here you need riding lessons followed by theoretical and practical exams, which are expensive, even for 49cc scooters. Even for a 125cc you need a A2 license at minimum. I think more people would leave their car to ride (and reduce congestion) if 125cc were allowed to be ridden with a car license and maybe a one day training course or something.
What bike is that? I'm about to take the bike journey at 50... had very high performance cars my whole life, so I'm already calm... but I must have a vehicle capable of the highest performance. Even my daily car has over 300bhp. And cars are awesome by the way. But I've always admired bikes... inparticular, the VFR800. I love the looks, I REALLY love the noise - ever since one drove by me at Le Mans.
bought a sinnis apache at 17 yamaha xv535 at 19 and finally just bought a Dyna at 21 next bike will probably be a goldwing or a rocket 3 (I do a lot of motorway miles therefore the big engine bikes)
I know this is irrelevant to this video, but still very relevant as the video I will reference is out there, but, remember the video about cleaning stainless headers with harpic? Did you know about the chemical reaction S/S has with the Hydrochloric acid in the Harpic? It strips the Chromium from the S/S which makes it more susceptible to corrosion and will guarantee them staining far quicker
Yes I do know, I talked about in during my recent video doing the exhausts of the DRZ. The truth is loads will still do it. whenever I say it's OK to do very occasionally I'm told you can't do that blar blar when I say don't do this people say oh it's fine. Personally on a cheap set of headers I have found no ill effects and no it hasn't accelerated the rust rate. But I can't say that will always be the case and it defo doesn't mean do it to clean weekly. People tend to ignore any caveat I give in videos also. Haha
Cant beat riding a motorcycle, If you want cheap and cheerful jus back and for work, nothing else, get a 125. If you want back and for work, fun and day trips, ride outs with mates, 500cc and up
My car-The roof folds away... Though as for bike, I'm thinking 125, or E-bike, for commuting (I don't have the funds yet). Though I do have a disabled friend, and we've even discussed getting a bike, since he used to ride, many years ago.
I did my test last year at the age of 40. Had motorbike screen wallpapers for 10 years and finally decided to move my butt and do sth about it. Did my test, bought a bike ( Suzuki GSR 750), couldn't be happier. Except for the fact my country (Poland) is a bit too flat (fckng straight roads everywhere). It's never too late, just get of the couch get yourself a new hobby!
Spicy, I finally decided last August that I was going to get a bike. Now I just need the training, the bike, the kit and money to pay for it! Been watching your videos in the meantime and really want to thank you for all your honest advice. ❤️ Think I’m going to go for the CBT once COVID settles down. One question - I’m pretty set on a Bonneville T100 but is that going to be too much bike for a noob?
I think I found my bike am hoping to get it later this year along with my CBT am hoping that I won't need anymore therapists when I get my future baby ☺️. By the way bikes are also cleaner for the planet than cars are they give off less emissions so I believe ✌️.
Spicy, I’m thinking of getting on two wheels and am currently saving for the bike, gear and CBT. I’m looking at the Lexmoto LXR 125 I’ve watched your review, do you think this would be a good starting point?
Can you make a review of the lexmoto zsx r please? I wanna get my first bike, I wanted to buy the lexmoto adrenaline after seeing your video but they don't make them anymore, now I am thinking to buy the zsx r but I couldn't find any decent user reviews
im a newly licensed rider with enough $ to buy a new ninja 400 and currently no bike. my question is do i wait for the 2021 model or buy what's available now. my research has shown previous models are announced in august. im just not sure if i wait another month or so will i get any significant upgrade like a tft dash or just a different paint scheme.
I’ve had both and enjoyed both of them, it’s hard to choose just one bike so ideally you need 2/3 bikes then can choose what you want to ride depending on your mood for the day, hard choice though so good luck 👍
Go and try them at a dealership. Even just sitting on one will tell you a lot. There's no reason to stick to one type. You can sell and try something different. I've got a scooter, a cruiser and a naked as a project. I've also had an r125 which was fun, but less comfortable for commuting for me. I'd also bear in mind how desirable a bike is for theives. Everyone should be free to have what they want, but at the moment living in London, I wouldn't go and spend a fortune on a bike.
Hey found ur channel really enjoy your content! Questions if anyone could help? So I'm looking into buying a bike. However I was never taught to ride a push bike, would learning be a serious issue considering I cannot ride a bicycle? Also, I'm 6ft4. I have sat on a bike however when I got in the position I felt very unbalanced/ uncomfortable due to my knees touching my chins. What cheap 125 bikes would you recommend to a complete 6ft4 novice? Any help I really appreciate it. :)
Most cbts say you must be able to ride a pedal bike confidently before taking the course so I assume it will definitely help learning to ride a pedal bike
Probably best to start on a push bike, but I'd say talk to your local bike training school and see what they say. I find a motorbike easier to balance as you're not constantly pushing yourself off balance. Bikes of all sizes are actually quite stable once you get them moving. Biggest problem is getting past that initial fear - there's only one way through that unfortunately.
@@chriscook7049 thank you for your response. Regarding what you guys have put I have spoken to an instructor and he has suggested a pushbike however like u you have said, getting on a bike is somewhat easier as you don't use your own momentum. For Confidence he did say little cruisers or bikes with a sitting position instead of traditional 'superbike' position maybe best to learn on at my size just to feel more comfortable. So maybe I look into that sorta thing? Any budget recommendations?
I don’t know if this will help in your decision but I was a very experienced cyclist when I did my CBT, road and mountain bikes, fixed gear etc. When I first got on a 125 and twisted the throttle that all went out the window. Felt completely different, the prior experience made no difference imo.
This is what their email said - You must wear at least a pair of jeans and boot style trainers and a jacket with sleeves as we cannot provide these items. Bring your own helmet if you can or if you are using ours bring some antibacterial wipes, face mask and hand sanitizer and surgical gloves..
I sold my bike 4 month ago, I was gonna wait until next year before getting another one as I’ve got a missus that’s due to drop and a Landrover that soaks up it’s fair share of ££’s 😩 but I’ve noticed a mega deal on a bike I’ve wanted for a few years now (Suzuki GSX S750) new 2020 paint job that looks awesome and the fact it’s 0% interest free finance! I am really really REALLY struggling NOT to go to my dealer tomorrow and buy one, I miss riding so bad and like you mention in your video it’s great for mental health, YOLO right?

Like you, I had nagging doubts about safety, but after being back on a bike for a little over a year now, it's not something that concerns me anymore because the pleasure and fun of being back on two wheels is so good.
@@sproutandkidneysoup2296
That's good to hear and yet another little push in the right direction for me to get a bike again.. Yes totally agree that motor bikes somehow make you feel alive when out riding.. Whether it's a 125 or a 1000cc the sense of freedom is something that can't be explained to anyone who has never ridden before
I turned 39 the day you released this video. I booked my cbt and theory a few weeks ago and can't wait to do them.
A workout? Were you hanging off like Rossi or something?
I doubt it was a "track day" per se as everyone was going pretty slow and looked like inexperienced riders. I thought that looks perfect but for the life of me I have never been able to find out anything about it !?
Really lucky here in Stoke-on-Trent, my local training school lets you hire a bike and all the equipment after you do the cbt with them for £25 a day.
@@michaeldudgeon3271 That's brilliant.
I was in the same boat for years, i had raced Motox as a youth and then wanted a bike and never did it for ages. then i went to see my local trainer and we sorted out a 3 part payment option so i could split the costs up. I booked my DAS CBT and paid over 3 months as i did the course. passed first time and bought my GSXR600 K5. best thing i ever did
Has the K5 been reliable for you?

Riding a bike has help me with my depression and mental health issues
I get the same feeling from cars and bikes 🙌 both are a little enjoyable distressing escape
Thanks for the video and the reference to a terrific biking community willing to help others.
Miss my bike also had a xj6 sold it as needed to pass my driving licence.
Would love a world I could afford both.
I woulfnt be riding now if it wasnt for you bud, so thank you so so much, you gave me the confidence i needed to go ahead and do it. So again thank you...
Glad I could help!
Great vid, cannot disagree with any of the reasons to own a bike - MT03 here - wife has a car, so have the option for 4 wheels if needed, but not used the car since March...
Still the best thing I ever did, learning to ride.
Im considering doing it. My current car is a money pit and its more cost effective to get a used sportbike. Also always wanted to row through those gears haha...Sportbike 2022/23 here i come
Helpful ,useful and even entertaining . Definitely All of the above spicy plus a title that fits where im at lol i looked around when i saw it and thought you talking to me ?? Lol
Great positive points and thoughts in these shitty times thank you mate made my day went out erlier on a wet windy day here in wales within 5 miles lol stopped by the ocean no worries at all biking does this .
I have been watching (most) of your 'Getting in motorcycling' videos over the last few days. Re-watched the one with the chap who was your instructor last night.
In my first year of riding, fresh out of my CBT. old man bought me my first YBR125 and its definitely a new experience, coming from somebody who always said they would never ride. the hardest part is that its easy to get lost in the modicum of information that's out there, especially when it comes to maintenance, while does stress you out initially, gives a good satisfaction upon fixing the issue
In concerns to everyone riding bikes?

Just got my 2020 aprilia sx50 birthday is July 31st so cant wait for my cbt haha
found a keeyway 125cc krs and for most people it looks like a mini bike but for me at 5ft 3 its perfect i get mine this week! , been on scooters before then and then bought a secondhand venom but i was scammed and lost a big chunk of money in parts and stuff but its all good now i guess getting mine from a dealer now been cycling to work 9 miles a day up hills no thanks
I've been trying to do my direct access for 3 months now. The Rona stopped all driving tests :( hopefully next month I'll finally be able to do mod 1 & 2
Mines kept being pushed back. Was reading MCN yesterday and training is allowed for all and test centres are opening in July so hopefully not be too long 🤞🤞

BladeRicsi I agree, I always feel safer on the bike except maybe in the wet or ice.
After 4 months of waiting for the DVSA to open test centres again, I'm finally doing my CBT in 2 weeks, thank god
Best of luck!
Quick question:
Who on earth would dislike this video?
Oh yeah.. car drivers
I have this thought:
Cars are for getting you from a to b
Nice cars show that you like to drive
A bike shows you like being on the road
What bike is that?
I'm about to take the bike journey at 50... had very high performance cars my whole life, so I'm already calm... but I must have a vehicle capable of the highest performance. Even my daily car has over 300bhp.
And cars are awesome by the way. But I've always admired bikes... inparticular, the VFR800. I love the looks, I REALLY love the noise - ever since one drove by me at Le Mans.
Great advice!
bought a sinnis apache at 17 yamaha xv535 at 19 and finally just bought a Dyna at 21 next bike will probably be a goldwing or a rocket 3
(I do a lot of motorway miles therefore the big engine bikes)
Haha
@@spicy110 okay, fair enough, just didnt know if you knew
Love bikes, but commuting on them sucks big time, unless you work in the city centre where parking is a nightmare
Cant beat riding a motorcycle, If you want cheap and cheerful jus back and for work, nothing else, get a 125. If you want back and for work, fun and day trips, ride outs with mates, 500cc and up
ive had my kick up the butt... I'm doing my cbt tomorrow...
Nice video you talk a lot of sence keep up the good work 👍
I think I found my bike am hoping to get it later this year along with my CBT am hoping that I won't need anymore therapists when I get my future baby ☺️. By the way bikes are also cleaner for the planet than cars are they give off less emissions so I believe ✌️.
Ppl will spend 120 on a track day but wuss out when it comes to a cbt lol
Spicy, I’m thinking of getting on two wheels and am currently saving for the bike, gear and CBT. I’m looking at the Lexmoto LXR 125 I’ve watched your review, do you think this would be a good starting point?

im a newly licensed rider with enough $ to buy a new ninja 400 and currently no bike. my question is do i wait for the 2021 model or buy what's available now. my research has shown previous models are announced in august. im just not sure if i wait another month or so will i get any significant upgrade like a tft dash or just a different paint scheme.
It’s not like buying a MacBook or something, just get whichever bike you like the look of
I don't know if should but a sport bike or a cruiser 🤷♂️🤷♂️
What is the bike you are riding please?
Hi everyone im thinking of going to a 125c from my 50cc and im on budget of a £1000ish under if i can any suggestions thankyou

@@speedbird5409 thank you for responding. :)

Okay good to know, thank you
Depends where you go. Usually, they'll say no as if you fall off; it provides no protection.
Lots of paperwork they don't want to deal with.
This is what their email said - You must wear at least a pair of jeans and boot style trainers and a jacket with sleeves as we cannot provide these items.
Bring your own helmet if you can or if you are using ours bring some antibacterial wipes, face mask and hand sanitizer and surgical gloves..
Hell no
