As someone who works in the present day airline industry and with an interest in aviation history, this is a remarkable and enjoyable insight into how our industry once functioned in the past. Thank you for sharing

Hello from America, I miss when people had class. So sad to see what the world has become.

The good days of aviation were these days. You could smell the jet fuel and get close to the action without some security person annoying you. Observation decks were made for the public in the open air up close and personal. I miss those days.

Superb historical account of how things used to be. Thank you. Good to see a range of aircraft and companies, especially TAA and Ansett.
That gentleman passenger with the suit and moustache looks familiar. A former head of the ABC?

What happened to the Aussies? They were known as the most rugged, self determined and individualistic peoples of the world.
For some reason they have transformed into a nanny state that lets its government have total control over their lives. 🤷‍♂️
The folks in this video wouldn’t recognize the Australia of today. 😥

It’s not just you it’s here in America too. So sad , when the standard is lowered we all suffer.

Some great old aircraft and airlines in the film. Interesting to see airport security provided by a chain link gate. How times have changed. I really enjoyed the vid. Thanks

Amazing documentary. Back in the day when flying was an amazing experience not a stressful and depressing one.

It must've been a terrifying thought for Joe Scully to contemplate an actual woman to be the Captain of an international aircraft.
As the narrator tells us, it was _men and machines_ that kept Australia's Airlines accident free, and the _men at the front_ of the aircraft kept their eyes on the instruments.
The camera shows us that Air Traffic Controllers are all males, and all DCA inspectors are knowledgeable men. The only women are either passengers or "Air Hostesses".
Only one pilot-in-training (of a small aircraft) is apparently female. Viewers all agree that it's rather doubtful she'll ever really make the grade.

You must be kidding. Being a man has nothing to do with air safety, being well trained does.

I have to say the old fashioned sexist comments grated as they were pronounced. Thank goodness we have changed our attitutes - and yet we still have a long way to go.
