Interesting electrical circuits that run a warning bell with the battery disconnected. Hmmmm ;-) Just kidding. Excellent instructional video. Thanks for posting. It will save me a bunch of hassle getting my clockspring replaced.
You have to remove the steering wheel and then remove the plastic cowl on the back of it. It's 3 screws and a clip. The screws for the buttons are behind the cowl. Hope this helps!
Good vid! These wire airbag module releases are Lameo Lameo.. I noticed you didn’t use your 10mm socket for the battery terminal clamp, because well… we who know, know why lol Peace!!
You should’ve mentioned there are two different steering wheels for the 10-14 Outbacks. Following this guide, I ordered a leather steering wheel on eBay for my 2011 Outback. Turns out the steering wheel on mine is held on by two bolts, not clips, so it wasn’t a direct replacement. Is there any way to modify it to work with the bolts?
My horn stopped working on my crosstrek. It would work when I turned the wheel a certain position at one point then eventually stopped. I'm going to try removing it and see if any wires got loose. 🤞🏻 Very helpful video.

What a stupid system... Been working on it for two hours, have watched three videos, and still can't find the release. Update: i finally did get the clips to release. I was working on a 2014 Outback. Extremely frustrating.
+JAMES KANG Thanks for checking us out. We are showing how to remove this for those who may need to change the clock spring, airbag, or any other instrument part that is behind this steering wheel
the "horn pad"? its called an airbag. You should try to get to the point faster, a person who is replacing their steering wheel is advanced enough to know about putting your parking brake on.

How do you remove the controls on the steering wheel? Do they just pop out or are the fastened to the steering wheel. I couldnt see any fasteners.

Looking to work on my Impreza soon... looks like a real pain. Any tips on releasing the springs?
Not the same thing with the automatic transmission with paddle shift, no way you can reach the spring with the pic "????

Ok this does not work for the H6. The H6 had two screws and a single airbag connector. Probably an easier job.
So I should reconnect the battery again?
