Honestly I often like to compare the 2016 xxl class as Rap’s Nirvana moment. Imo I just feel that the sentiment, impact, stylistic shift, and the landscape it created in the mainstream carries many similarities. I grew up on that type of music right in the heart of it during the bridge between my middle school and high school years. I’m sure this is what it felt like to be a teen Nirvana fan in the 90s
Deadass I’ve had the same thought, it feels like the phases of musical evolution repeat themselves in diff contexts/genres. Also smn I thought was funny is I was talking about this w my dad who was a teen in the 90s and he said that most people back then enjoyed Nirvana, but not many identified as a true fan cause they were viewed as annoying, wild, groupies, kinda like how some people view like carti and Travis fans etc. now
From the amount of deaths and experimental sound scapes this is very accurate. I’m a 30 something Bay Area rock historian and I can draw an infinite amount of parallels between the explosion of depression musicality that has rolled over for several generations of American musicians.
@@DannyBedo I’m 22 years old so the majority of my experience with music has been relatively recent but both of my parents and my grandparents have always been huge music people so multiple generations of art have been intertwined in my upbringing. Nirvana utterly and completely changed culture around the world forever. That XXL stuff was impactful in its time, but will not have a lasting effect like this. This music is already almost 40 years old.
You should do Nevermind by Nirvana if you want an album by them, it’s their most mainstream and definitely most influential, just gotta be open minded, I fw the reactions
This song changed the world in 1991. To this day, it’s the line between classic and modern rock. Basically, the oldies era is everything before the Beatles came out in 1963. The Classic rock era is from the Beatles to the beginning of the 90s, and the modern rock era is from Nirvana to today
@@WallahMinGren true, but I think Kurt definitely was the most likely to adapt musically. Plus he would’ve been forced to change his sound cause his vocal cords couldn’t keep taking that punishment. But yeah we’ll never know
They don't make people chill, Talented and cool as Kurt was, He was a different breed and one of a kind who influenced so many people and genres.🕯️ P.S As a long time fan Come as you are is my favorite song.
Yo this series is hard. You should check out the old UK Punk scene like The Sex Pistols, The Clash, The Damned. So much iconic imagery and sounds were created that are still used all the time today
Nirvana has sold over 75 million copies of albums that only consisted of 3 records. Everything written by Kurt. Absolute goat status. Kurt Cobain was murdered and we all lost a good one early. Fucking love Kurt dude
You chose some of their softer songs. Try Breed, Territorial Pissings, Aneurysm, Heart-Shaped Box and Scentless Apprentice next. If you wanna do albums do Nirvana - Nevermind, Pearl Jam - Ten, Alice in Chains - Dirt, and Soundgarden - Superunknown.
The water in come as you are was simply a play on the album cover and album photo shoot the band did....originally the band was supposed to be standing in the room playing and not behind a water fall but because kurt wasn't doing or looking well from herion use they changed it.
this is where all the inspiration comes from for the underground kurt set the foundation for sure. Legend !!!!!!!!! Gotta react to limp biscuit, and corn
Sick Kingmil. I like that you caught the vibe despite the distance between Nirvana and you (decade, culture, genre, etc.) Can I ask you one thing? Do you have like a type of Top List or tier list or something like that of your fav music? I tend to be more on the hype/agressive side of music aswell, and since I like your reactions and the things you like, I thought maybe I can learn a couple things about artists that can spice up my boring ahh life 😅
Listen bro. Nirvana for me is a top 5 band....But you chose 3 of their pop songs, not even close to their best songs......not even close at all.. Check out Logue Act or a song on the Bleach Album....But PEAK NIRVANA will always be a LIVE performance. Breed live....School live....ANYTHING live....One of the Best live bands of all time
Kurt didn’t kill himself. Kurt was killed by his friend Dylan who he wrote the song in bloom about. Justice for Kurt is coming! Tupac’s murder was finally solved and now so will Kurt’s.

kurt cobain would go crazy on music nowadays if he was alive
Hard to know, most of his contemporaries failed to adapt

I love Dave grohl is basically playing the funky drummer beat on the chorus. Brilliant.
