This is amazing content. I havent played ultimate in like 5 months because i lost interest/haven’t been able to play offline due to the pandemic. Watching this makes me wanna practice Peach/Daisy again
A normal throw has a few frames of lag after whereas Z drops and down b cancels are instant. This allows you to do tight frame follow up move directly afterwards.
how can you do the z catch without cancelling float ? i use jump on L trigger i always do aerials no matter what and i only can z cactch consistently by dropping my float
Hey man, I’m getting a turnip loop in pretty sure by using the z grab + down b, but for some reason, the combo counter isn’t going up. Even after 40%. I think I’m going fast enough. Could I email you a clip for you to see? Also does the combo counter matter since I’m still doing the same damage. I’m somewhat new to the game, but I want to one trick peach. Please help, thanks!
Been labbing this for 6 years and cant fet it true. Do you hold forward first and the buffer the z carch plus jump or do you jump and catch first and then hold forward its so confusingggg
Smash throws are easier to combo with, and the turnip moves faster in the air. However, without the down b tech, your z catch is going to be slower. Even though you get a light throw, the time saved with down b makes up for it. It is helpful to start the combos with a smash throw, and you can even finish the combo with a smash throw that will more easily combo into forward air.
While I’m not going to make an entire video on this, I will stream in the future and I can show it. If you have any questions about the timing, I can answer them now.
I have this problem too. I think it might be because you're pressing jump and z catch on the same frame. Z catch is the same as the grab button, and the grab button is a macro for [shield + attack] because of ultimates buffer priority systems when you press jump attack and shield on the same frame itll make you input a down air. (I'm not sure tho this is just my best guess)
Yes it is. Using the C-stick is slower and less consistent, but you get smash turnip throws (peach throws the turnip farther). Down B gets light throws, but is faster and more consistent. The peach discord at the moment agrees that Down B is the better way of doing the combo.
im trying to get this combo down, but i always find myself catching the turnip and floating way higher than i should. Im using L to jump on GC controller, is it possible to do the combo with this setup, or am i missing it because you cant short-hop consistently with L jump?
@@jawesz7420 I kind of got the feel for it, but im still not good at it. I think you have to Dash -> jump and Z -> Immediately pull down the Stick The frame window seems precise tho...
Your sub and viewcount is way too low, I'm sure you'll blow up if you continue with the quality vids. That said, I think I give up trying to do this fast enough (with normal turnups), holding forward after the DBC requires this weird timing I can't get down since if you do it too early, it doesn't come out. If you could buffer the dash it would be super easy.. Chaining winky faces is surprisingly easy. Cool tech.
I'm sure you can get it with practice. The input is super complicated, but once you know it, you can just do the same thing over and over. And yeah, special turnips make it so you don't really even have to do it perfectly, just close enough and they will combo.
@@Croustibate not necessarily. Down B is a faster and more consistent method, even with the light toss. That’s been the consensus in the Peach discord for awhile.
Quick question, is the combo counter just broken for this? I'll get a combo counter with regular turnips rarely but almost always get the combo counter with dot eyes and stitch face
The normal turnips (+ winky) just have a very small window to combo, and you have to be much more precise with your inputs. Dot and stitch have a ton of hitstun however, making these very easy to combo with. You can combo with stitch even if you aren't doing the inputs right.
Funny thing, I used to stream a ton on twitch. I streamed maybe 50-100 hours over the summer for 0 viewers before I got tired and stopped. I intend to give it another go at some point in the future. I hope to do viewer battles and do some live tech teaching.
After the turnip toss with c stick, wait about 5 frames, flick the analog forward and hold it, immidietly buffer jump+grab by holding the buttons. Continue holding forward once you buffer jump+grab, then hold down while still holding jump+grab. The amount you need to hold forward and down requires perfect timing if you want to combo. A down b combo that carries your opponent across the stage... now where have I seen that before 🤔
How does this guy only have 252 subs? He's great!
Thank you ralts, you are missed
I also forgot to say It's highly impractical, but you can also do turnip loops with z drop and a backwards float boost into your opponent
Hey that’s not super impractical, as a z drop is frame 4 OOS. Erio was labbing out that setup the other day in the peach discord.
This helped me so much thank you for the great advice!
this is so much easier thank you
I agree! I hated the old method and could barely do it. Plus I had to mess up my control scheme.
This is the best explication video ever!!!!!!!!🤩

amazing tutorial, will try down b cancelling soon instead of what I was doing before since i’m kinda washed and my hands arent quite as fast 😂
I do agree, using the down B cancel is easier than the c-stick ground float method and the SHJCFF method.
So this is a wonderful way to learn this! Thanks for sharing! Update: I snapped my z button practicing this. LOL

I also found that you can do turnip loops into down tilt turnip catch at certain percents
This is cool! I never knew this. Maybe you could provide the peach discord with percents where this works!

Your videos are perfection, but can you explain how pressing DownB is any different than just letting go of Jump pressing A?
A normal throw has a few frames of lag after whereas Z drops and down b cancels are instant. This allows you to do tight frame follow up move directly afterwards.

I'm new to smash, anyone knows the commands on switch pro controller?
in the turnip train guides i watched before, it always said the turnip throws had to be smash throws iirc. is that not necessary anymore?
It nets you 2 extra percent each throw but it isn't necessary for it to be true.
Smash throws are easier to combo with, and the turnip moves faster in the air. However, without the down b tech, your z catch is going to be slower. Even though you get a light throw, the time saved with down b makes up for it.

This video would be much more helpful if you explained how to ground float
What's the error if I'm getting float cancel down air instead of jump z-catch ?

everytime i try to do this, i get a little too close and i grab. I don't know if I'm entering the input wrong for z-catch or if i'm just too close
I figured out the problem, he covered it in the last section of the video. I was pressing grab before jump
Thx for your vidéo ! Is it différent using right stick (c stick to do F-toss)instead of down B to toss turnip?
Yes it is. Using the C-stick is slower and less consistent, but you get smash turnip throws (peach throws the turnip farther). Down B gets light throws, but is faster and more consistent. The peach discord at the moment agrees that Down B is the better way of doing the combo.
