Generally, most newborns up to 8 weeks prefers their legs tugged in. As their legs "straighten", the legs will automatically emerge from the carrier.

Tried for our 4 week old the first time: baby barfed on me, Manduca carrier and herself, then pooped, peed and started crying :D Success.
