- Tillotson 212e gets a billet flywheel and more top speed?
Installed a Slipstream Billet flywheel in the Tillotson 212 on the Doodlebug/ Baja Racer minibike .
Did a top speed run to see if the flywheel installation made any difference in performance?

pity they don't machine those flywheels so you can put the e-starter ring on them (or come with it already installed)

Upgrade your front with the disk brake kit. Gotta be able to stop. Stock rear brakes suck.

Does a flywheel actually add anymore speed or horse power ?
It adds timing and safety. With the added timing they generally add performance depending on the cam or set up. . I have a few videos on the channel comparing the performance of different flywheels.

I have a question. On my Predator 212 hemi it used to sound normal with a short header pipe, and today I just started it for the first time and it sounds way different, it sounds like a bubble and it’s acting strange. I can’t rev it with choke off when it’s warm, I let it idle on start and then flip the choke to run and it idles fine but when I give it throttle it dies? Please help me
Possible clogged main jet or etube.
Clogged pilot and or main jet. Are you using ethanol fuel? If so, don't drain the bowl unless you are gonna store it for a month or more, and you are draining the whole fuel system anyway. I found that when I drain the bowl repeatedly after every ride, or running the engine, the quick evaporation of the fuel as compared to just leaving the gas in there promotes crystallization of any particle of dirt that may be in the pilot jet. I have pushed what look like little grains of sand out of my jets, but they crumble between my fingers. It's probably just the gas here in the Midwest, idk.

They should offer a high rpm flywheel with starter ring so you can use the starter..
The factory tillotson flywheel is high rpm rated.

i think they offer starter rings and maybe flywheels with teeth already on it but im not sure if its for a big block or small block
What's was the weight difference between billet and stock flywheel
Have you considered doing a 225 Tillotson swap and building that up? I wonder what your top speed would be. I have a stage one 196 but I can’t decide if I should do a stage two on it or swap for a 225 and start building that. I’m currently at 49mph on my Trailmaster mb200.

I think it's awesome as is! It already has billet parts so you can modify it to the next stages easily if you wanted even more out of it. Great engine!

the racersproquip put together a full on stage 3 kit for the 224, seems interesting but im not sure about their billet rod choice
What was the timing with the 7 degree key? In other words, you went from what timing to 34 BTDC?
@deucealive75 ?? He used stock fly wheel key. Billet flywheel come with advance timing already, (34). If he used they 7 degree key to make 34, would have started with 27 degrees. Easy math.
@@tannergunsell1651 Of course. I was asking to see if he did anything different than what I thought. If he went from 35 BTDC to 34 or not. If so his gains were from a lighter flywheel and not timing. Stock flywheels are 28 BTDC, unless Tillotson is doing something different than standard.
I just installed the vm22 mikuni on my pull start tilloston 212 an it’s over heating like the block it’s very hot not as usual what you think it could be black66? I’m doing 51 mph with stock timing
Sounds like its running lean ... makes more heat in the cylinder

@@jtaylor9355 just a little bit at idle but ik it’s not really supposed get to hot that when you touch it it kinda burn you it shouldn’t be like that then after a cruise it’s really Steaming hot.

From your experience how many rpms is a stock predator 212 engine good for? I have a very thin budget. I would only be able to buy either a lightweight flywheel (non billet) or a billet piston rod. I really don't want to blow a brand new engine up but don't know what would fail first at high rpm

The flywheel is the bigger safety threat and bottleneck. If forced to pick one go flywheel. Stock rod will hold mid 5k no problem
@@562jamesj that's what I'm going to end up doing. I'm going to Polish the piston rod so i have a little more peace of mind lol.
