Not for me, either. It depends of who you are, what you are looking for, and what this means to you. Sometimes its better not follow the "Madding Crowd".
Truly my absolutely favourite Nocturne, I love it. I can not imagine anybody playing this incredible piece with more perfection than she did. What a gift this is!
I have listened to many performances on TH-cam of this nocturne. Artur Rubinstein's performance is similar in mood to this one. But so many even great pianists miss capturing the right spirit. Some play it quickly, the chromatic notes emphasized, there is a metallic and punched sound to the notes, the ornamental runs sound like a circus performance. Anna Fedorova gets so many things right. Perhaps the piano and recording help as well. Her melodic tone is deep and pleasant as though singing. She gives some weight and length to the short sixteenth notes - others play them flippantly. She can lighten her touch also, so that passages have a velvety sheen, and have a swooning quality. If she is listening, it would be great if she would record more Chopin Nocturnes.
I have been listening to the Preliminaries of the Chopin 2021 competition, and have heard and seen several pianists play this same nocturne, and I return to this performance. I recall being impressed with this performance when it was first played live. The pianist maintains composure and poise in the face. The back is straight, the fingers are curved, and there is a lack of physical tension in the playing. The melody is played with a singing legato tone, without hurry or rush. There is points of lingering in the phrasing, as well as moving toward the climactic peaks. The contrasting middle section is dramatic and yet played with restraint and control. The sound quality is excellent, and there are several camera angles. All the elements contribute to a moment of calm contemplation of a pleasure, and a relaxed state of being. A fine performance.
Beautiful, wonderful, magnificent -- BRAVISSIMA!!! Anna's exceptional musicianship deeply touches one's emotional core. Her astonishing introspection, insight, and understanding of Chopin's music are breathtaking! What an absolutely captivating artist she is!
I just fell in love with this joyfull yet nostalgic Nocturne. I cannot stop listening to it to try capturing and imagine what Chopin truly wanted to express trough this masterpiece. Just magical !☺
This young woman is so unselfish in providing her talent online even during the illness era. Could easily continue being a Professor of the pianoforte for young people.
I’m at AWE AT YOU CLASSICAL DOCTORS! Thanks so much for the breadth, as a jazz piano player my jaw drops when a classical player takes over the keyboard. Hands down fire!
I only play some Nocturnes (the easy ones, 20, 72, 32-1 and 37-1) but I know that this particular one is perhaps the most difficult (according to what a great friend of mine says who can play it) and see this beautiful pianist playing it, very easily excites me too much. Congratulations.
Okay…..this is best interpretation I’ve heard, including Ashkenazy. Why? The mid section played with the appropriate fury and menace, but NOT overly heavy handed or loud. She swept through that series of legato passages keeping the emotional flow so that one does not get anxious or agitated. I listen to Chopin while painting. When I get to Chopin’s Nocturne in B minor i find myself ripping my headphones off from angst, at the middle change that becomes disturbing. She confirms what I suspected, that you can play this true to Chopin’s shifting moods without being confrontational. That she can play this potentially bellicose passage without aggressive anger and still convey the menacing mood. ❤ This replaces Rubenstein, Ashkenazy and Harasiewicz on my morning playlist for this Nocturne.
Os Noturnos sem dúvida são a obra Máxima de Chopin, este Noturno é lindíssimo e a Pianista toca o de maneira Formidável .E acima de tudo ela ê uma Figura Linda ,.
I have been listening to Anna play Rachmaninoff for months of the internet and just tonight discovered she also plays Chopin. I am next moving on to hear her play the Polonaise and then Tchaikovsky. Does she play Beethoven too?
Sounds like an exaggerated. But this is the best version i have ever heard. So introspective. The timing of every note is just right Cant believe she is eliminated in the second round

So much is happening in the middle section. Anger, pain, fury, panic, sadness, desperation... it contains so much emotion.
The music contains no emotion. The pianist provides that with her interpretation.
@@GosokuRyuYodan the music does contain emotions, Chopin's emotions.

You think EXACTLY like I do ! ( I hope she listens too ! ) 🎹😛👍
0:30 - My goodness, she's so connected to the piece that she even blinks in sync with the melody notes.
Piękno muzyki Fryderyka Chopina to fenomen graniczący z cudem ❤️
Pan Fryderyk Chopin jest dumą Polski! Cały naród jest z niego dumny! 🇵🇱
A hauntingly mesmerizing performance that truly captures the poetic voices of this beloved Nocturne! Bravo!
I agree, it recalls my previous favourite rendition, by Josef Lhévinne on a LP of a piano roll recording made I guess c. 1924 and also here on TH-cam
My favorite piece of Chopin ❤
素晴らしい演奏ですね。感動します。この曲を聴くととても平和な気持ちになります。今僕もこの曲を練習しています。

How beautifully she speaks.

48.1 might be technically more difficult but they are both amazing pieces and very challenging in their own right
This is fantastic!! I love that piece ❤. My favorite nocturne of Chopin
Absolutely incredible.
Exquisite. Everything about this video is exquisite. The piece, the performance, and the performer.

Well said ! You have great ears !! ( and MIND ! ) 👍🎹🎵
This Nocturne in B is exactly what it means to be underrated. I think already 2010 is ready to give her enough applause to get on. As she will.

Probably one the most difficult Nocturnes by Chopin.
I just started playing this song, it is very complicated but fun to play!
It's quite the song
You'll be a great pianist when you're done with it. In fact, you'll be so good that you'll start calling it a piece instead.
Hey me too, done with the first page, 21 bars, took 2 weeks
Just want give cheers and good luck to anyone who is attempting this piece. Finished or not, you tried and that matters a lot

Coughs! Yes! Don’t go to a concert if you have a cough. And, adults can withhold a cough. It’s disrespectful and it CAN ruin a performance.

Beautifully played.
For me the only ones I can listen to playing this are Anna and Vladimir Ashkenazy. Truly brilliant timing

I just answered my own question. There is a selection below of Anna playing Chopin and Beethoven.
I think any well rounded professional pianist would have experience playing all these giant composers
I think 3:46- is one of those "cannons buried in flowers" which Schumann referred to.
2:49 concentrated Chopin's romantic spirit.
