It's really heart touching and not any surprising to me that people don't know about Nepal. I moved to Yukon, Canada last year. When I ask people here where is Mount Everest most of them don't have any idea. Some people say that they never heard of Nepal.

But overall it was one broad culture... It will not be right to call that culture as Indian or nepali, because that culture is older than these countries. Later India and Nepal both inherited parts of it and keep fighting about what belongs to whom... But you really can't decide what belongs to whom... See buddha was born in lumbini but did everything significant in today's uttar pradesh and Bihar. One is the JANMA-BHOOMI and other the KARMA BHOOMI.... its better to drop the idea of trying to own him. He did not belong to any one country or place
