I still own this game. My family never had a lot of money but one day my Dad won an Xbox from a raffle at his job and he bought me this game to go along with it. It was genuinely the first game I ever owned on any console. I had forgotten this memory. Thank you.
That’s an awesome memory! Some of my fondest memories from my childhood are playing Halo and Battlefront with my older brother. We didn’t hang out together much, but when we gamed together we really connected and had a lot of fun together :)
Fun Fact: In the EU/Legends novel Kenobi by John Jackson Miller, Obi-Wan does briefly mention the events on Tatooine from this game during one of his meditation sessions where he tries to contact Qui-Gon. Definitely blew my mind when I realized they were referencing the game I would play every summer when I went to see my dad as a young lad.
Interesting to see this game reviewed since I loved it as a kid, and often find myself wondering if it was actually as good as I thought it was. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
I used to have this game myself back when I had the original xbox and I absolutely loved it. The only reason I sold it was because my xbox decided to blow its brains out And I couldn't afford to get another one at the time. Looking back at it though I wish I had kept ahold of it until I was able to get a new xbox xbox but at the time the Xbox 360 was just coming out and I didn't think I'd be playing those old games anymore, But now I kind of regret it.
What were these Lightsaber combos exactly??? Have you ever thought about remaking this Obi Wan Star Wars game in Dreams with their tools on the PlayStation 4???
Just wanted to say that I loved this game as a kid and it’s one of my fave Star Wars games. The original story that took place before Ep 1, using the right analog stick to swing the saber, and the unlockable free for all jedi death match mode it had were so amazing. Glad to see it talked about
It wasn't until I recently replayed this game where I realized obiwan's dialog at the end after the credits is a parody of the opening monolog of trainspotting which as a fan of the movie made me laugh very hard.
I always liked the feeling of directly controlling your lightsaber with the right control stick… I think it’s something that should be attempted again but expanded greatly and with the tightness of modern games.
I had this game as a kid. It was one of the only games we had for the Xbox. I remember in one of the early sections you can turn around at the start of the level and find a Wookie who will follow you around the who level and help fight. We were so stoked when we figured this out and it ended up being the only level I would play.
Every now and then you'd force push an object at an enemy and it would magnet to the wookie and he'd turn hostile and absolutely wreck your shit. I was terrified of that wookie lol.
I fondly remember picking this up with my older brother at Best Buy back in January 2002. Got the Xbox for Christmas and were eager for a new game. Funny enough, I remember us both being stuck on Saisee Tiin's boss battle for quite some time. I considered doing a Jedi Battles tournament with my college buddies back in the day, and even charted out each Jedi's damage per swing on an Excel document (Ki-Adi-Mundi was interesting because he was one of the strongest offensively, but weakest defensively) before deciding on a more balanced and less buggy game. I kid you not, I still replay this game at least once a year. Glad to see someone give it some praise. It's got its flaws, but I do enjoy it immensely. Hmm... Maybe I'll go play it now.
I often see this game on the list of 'Worst Star Wars games' and I don't know why. This came out right in the middle of the prequel trilogy and I loved it. It had a thrid person Jedi Arena mode that worked well too and I played that alot on my own or vs friends/family. I was fortunate enough to play the hell out of this game back when it released. Used to love the duel arena vs. the Jedi Masters. Now looking back the way he swings like he's aiming for mailboxes is pretty funny.
I remember passing by this game in the game section at a mall when I was a kid in the early 2000s. I never picked it up since I was happy my parents getting me a gamecube, but I wondered to myself "Why is the box cover green if Obi-Wans lightsaber is blue?"

This game and battlefront 2 for the original Xbox were genuinely my favourite games of all time. They hold a special place in my heart, especially after losing my twin brother a few years ago. So many amazing memories playing these games with him. Simpler times ❤️ miss you Jack

Good retrospective! One thing you didn’t hit on, for reasons that are probably pretty understandable and obvious, is that this game had a very good split-screen multiplayer component. It was pretty much just the Jedi master duels but you picked from the list of Jedi masters (Plo Koon stans rise up) and duked it out. You could use all the force powers from the single player, including the force slow, lightsaber throw, etc.which led to some wacky situations and I honestly played the multiplayer WAY more than the single player
Me too! Loved playing around with all the jedis with my friend. Staging different battle scenarios, testing out the force powers in different ways, and just using our imaginations to stay entertained for hours upon hours.
wow a huge rush of nostalgia just filled my veins watching this review. excellent review btw, very well done. i remember playing this game when i was child and my mother baking for christmas in the other room. the sweet smell of desserts and the civilized sound of Obi-Wan.
This brings back memories! Trying so hard to beat this game with my older brother and cousin. It was so difficult for us. I’ve been trying to find a PC port for the game for ages
This game was lots of fun. For the time the graphics were damn good, and of course, the Darth Maul final boss! The lightsaber attacks left a little to be desired but overall, everything came together pretty good
I just played this the other day for the first time in years. I have a solid collection of games and systems new and old. I had a blast playing through the first 4 levels. Thanks for the review. Awesome
Keep seeing this game in my local retro game store, I may have to pick it up (along with an original Xbox) Great Review, Junko! Thanks for finally giving me an excuse to find out what this game is!
Thanks Luggy! I was ignorant to how many Xbox games are not backwards compatible with the 360 and the One. And emulation for the OG Xbox just isn't reliable. I bought my Xbox earlier this year and am loving it. But do keep in mind, their disc drives have a highly failure rate. Mine failed right after finishing this review sadly but luckily I had a warranty to replace it. Might be a good idea to mod one if you can
Do it. I know that Xbox said they ended support for backwards compatible support. In my retro game store years ago I bought the Clone Wars and Episode 3 game and luckily they were brought over.
@@route77productions Obi Wan is still the only one of all the Star Wars games on OG Xbox that didn't get brought over for backwards compatibility on Xbox One for some reason.
Went back and replayed this in anticipation of the Obi-Wan Kenobi series. This was the first Xbox game that I played when I got an Xbox used back in 2006.
I always loved this game and still play it occasionally. It's my favorite of the episode 1 Obi-Wan games which include this, the phantom menace, and episode 1 obi wan adventures.
i use to have this game when i was like 4, i’d only get to play when my older brothers were asleep so i don’t remember too much of the gameplay but seeing the thumbnail made all the feelings come bacc. episode 3 was my favorite game tho
Great review. I used to play this game over and over again as a kid, I still have the game and pop it in once in awhile. It's definitely not a masterpiece, but I believe it's underrated and a sequel would have been great if it similarly started before the events of episode 2 and takes you up to Geonosis.
I loved this game as a child, I remember going to Blockbuster with my mum to rent another controller so my cousin and I could verse eachother. I bought a copy a few years ago and replayed it and it was just how I remembered and hasn't aged too poorly
This game I played so much as a child when it first came out, and even though I havent been able to play it in well over a decade, I'm sure I'd still be able to navigate all of my favorite levels with all the time I've spent hunting for all of the secrets.
I used to play this when I was about 5 years old. I’ve always remembered but never could find out what it was. Today you showed me a missing piece of my childhood and for that I thank you
I remember as a child one Christmas 🎄 morning running around to my friend's home to see what they had got for Christmas and this game was one of the many, many games that Santa had brought them for Christmas. I always wondered why Santa didn't like our family as a child.😥
This was the first Xbox game I ever bought when I was 11. I was looking to get something else (Binx: The Time Sweeper I believe) and my dad was the one who pointed Obi-Wan out. I absolutely loved the game even though it would straight up PISS me off sometimes. (Ps Praise the algorithm for finally blessing me with such a good channel!)
i remember trying this game once when i was a really little kid on my uncle's Xbox since i didn't have one back then, it had a really cool boxart but i think i remember liking kotor and this Lord of the rings 3rd age one a bit more. i don't really remember anything about it though so i kinda wanna come back to it
Some of the best editing for a video I’ve seen in awhile, love the conciseness with comparing the array of Star Wars games from console and PC as most people haven’t heard of the titles you’ve mentioned. Awesome video
I remember loving this game so much. One of my best friends and I would duel it out in the multiplayer mode and when you selected Obi Wan Kenobi, they would say his name in the most dramatic way. It was my favorite Star Wars game for the longest time.
I was hoping someone reviewed this game. Anyone I've asked about it has either never played it or never heard of it. This was part of my childhood. I loved the right thumbstick use for the Saber.
Subscribed for the Buck Bumble. Also this makes me want to play this game. It'd be cool if it got the port treatment like some of the older games have been getting. It would be funny to do so with the Disney+ series on the way.
My first couple play throughs I never realized you could yank weapons away. Absolute game changer and such a fun power you don’t really see in any other Star Wars game
So much nostalgia!! Would've played this as a young kid around 2004 or 2005 and I was never good enough to get past the Naboo level. I think the limited attempts kept me from progressing. The atmosphere on the early coruscant levels also scared me!!
Wow...I loved this game in my mid 20's, when my oldest son was about 5 or 6 and the prequels ( 2 and 3) were being made. I remember if you had Obi try to do somthing he couldn't or open a door he couldn't he would say "I'm not sure" in that unique British accent. My wife and 5 year old would mimic it and to this day in my house, occasionally you'll hear somone say " I'm not sure" with that accent if they can't figure somthing out. Funny how silly parlance like that influenced and stuck around for 22 years.
I never thought I'd meet anyone else who still had "I'm not sure...?" stuck in his head. Y "I'm not sure...?" Y "I'm not sure...?" Y "I'm not sure...?"
I thought this was a fever dream I barely remember playing playing knights of the old republic cuz you had a sword and team that was cool, forgot the name and i don't remember this title popping up whenever searching online trying to find it, thank you so much I don't think I'd seen it again without you.
I didn't own this as a kid but my buddy did, and for years for the life of me I couldn't remember what it was called, thank you for bringing this nostalgia back
I just love content like this, coming from a person who came from somewhere similar to where I came from, family would never shell out for an xbox after a PS2, and I would have killed to play good star wars games on my ps2 as the movies were coming out. Wow, you brought me back.
one of my favorite star wars games. Great review on it! some lore, initially the game was being developed for PC with a slightly different engine, before being ported to xbox as an exclusive
Completely unrelated to Obi Wan, but the Kirby’s Epic Yarn ost at the beginning hit me like a ton of bricks and I had to close the video for a second. I hadn’t thought about that game in so long, even though I loved it as a kid. Thank you for reminding me.
Finally I’ve found it, played this game all the time I was 6 when this came out. I played the battle royal mode daily for a few years. Hard to believe that was 20 years ago, I’ve always remembered this game but could never remember what it was called. Thank you for this nostalgie trip
Omg, this is one of those forgotten games of my childhood!! I remember playing this for hours but I couldn't remember the name! Thank you for bringing this up! I will need to set up an emulator and give it a go again. ❤
This game(not Halo) is actually the main reason I bought an original Xbox back when it was cutting-edge and new. I was(and am) a die-hard Star Wars fan, and this game looked AWESOME. I remember the old Xbox website used to have trailers for their games in a small potato-video frame and I watched the video for this one CONSTANTLY. It did not disappoint, and it's still one of my favorite games of all time. I love the combat and the setting.
I remember this game, it felt obscure but awesome at the time. Your videos give me early G4TV nostalgic vibes. I get the same high off the choice of music, intellectual verbiage and vibe. Thank you 🎉
I'm hoping to pick this up in a few weeks for my birthday. Back when the Xbox launched I was still rolling with my N64 and that Christmas I got my PS2, but I remember going to the Xbox website back then and wanting this. Good video, thanks for reminding me of it!

Would love to see this come out as a remaster for PC/Xbox Game Pass with the new Obi Wan series coming out on Disney+
This brings back memories! Trying so hard to beat this game with my older brother and cousin. It was so difficult for us. I’ve been trying to find a PC port for the game for ages
That intro was done so well. I did pause my thoughts a moment.
Awesome
Keep seeing this game in my local retro game store, I may have to pick it up (along with an original Xbox)
Great Review, Junko!
Might be a good idea to mod one if you can
@@YungJunko thanks for the heads up! I’ll definitely look into it!
Ohhh :O
Went back and replayed this in anticipation of the Obi-Wan Kenobi series.
This was the first Xbox game that I played when I got an Xbox used back in 2006.
I played this game for the first time yesterday. Very fun game!
Love the buck bumble reference.
That theme song slaps
Ah, I loved this game back in the day! Wish I could play it now 🙌🏼
Dude that train spotting monologue, and Alec Guineas explaining the that the force is blue stuff,
Your great
I always loved this game and still play it occasionally.
I was very high starting this video
This game I played so much as a child when it first came out, and even though I havent been able to play it in well over a decade, I'm sure I'd still be able to navigate all of my favorite levels with all the time I've spent hunting for all of the secrets.
1313 was almost it's own game..this is the first time i've heard a reference to it outside of the actual project. very cool!
the "1313 radio" threw me for a loop lol
I used to play this when I was about 5 years old. I’ve always remembered but never could find out what it was. Today you showed me a missing piece of my childhood and for that I thank you
I remember as a child one Christmas 🎄 morning running around to my friend's home to see what they had got for Christmas and this game was one of the many, many games that Santa had brought them for Christmas.
I always wondered why Santa didn't like our family as a child.😥
Man that's kinda sad lol
This was the first Xbox game I ever bought when I was 11. I was looking to get something else (Binx: The Time Sweeper I believe) and my dad was the one who pointed Obi-Wan out. I absolutely loved the game even though it would straight up PISS me off sometimes.
(Ps Praise the algorithm for finally blessing me with such a good channel!)
i remember trying this game once when i was a really little kid on my uncle's Xbox since i didn't have one back then, it had a really cool boxart but i think i remember liking kotor and this Lord of the rings 3rd age one a bit more. i don't really remember anything about it though so i kinda wanna come back to it
The third age is so underrated
Some of the best editing for a video I’ve seen in awhile, love the conciseness with comparing the array of Star Wars games from console and PC as most people haven’t heard of the titles you’ve mentioned. Awesome video
This was so awesome to play when I was a kid 😄! Loved this game and how you could swing that lightsaber haha
Wow I loved that game as a kid! The right thumb stick to use your lightsaber however really blew my mind
How did he know I was high I'm scared
I remember loving this game so much. One of my best friends and I would duel it out in the multiplayer mode and when you selected Obi Wan Kenobi, they would say his name in the most dramatic way. It was my favorite Star Wars game for the longest time.
"A new Obi-Wan type game"
I was hoping someone reviewed this game. Anyone I've asked about it has either never played it or never heard of it. This was part of my childhood. I loved the right thumbstick use for the Saber.
Yooo I was literally high trash can had me tripping you earned a sub
You asked me if I was high in the middle of my bong rip and ive never been more convinced that my phone is listening to me
Subscribed for the Buck Bumble. Also this makes me want to play this game. It'd be cool if it got the port treatment like some of the older games have been getting. It would be funny to do so with the Disney+ series on the way.
popped a bowl not too long before starting the video and the intro shook me to my core lmao
Never heard of this game, looks pretty good considering it came out in 2001. Great and funny video :)
My first couple play throughs I never realized you could yank weapons away. Absolute game changer and such a fun power you don’t really see in any other Star Wars game
How did you not realize it? It’s in the tutorial level
My dude! I'm literally going to plug in the original x-box tonight and PLAY THE F#@K out of this nostalgic game for SURE!!😁👍
Y
"I'm not sure...?"
Y
"I'm not sure...?"
Y
"I'm not sure...?"
I thought this was a fever dream I barely remember playing playing knights of the old republic cuz you had a sword and team that was cool, forgot the name and i don't remember this title popping up whenever searching online trying to find it, thank you so much I don't think I'd seen it again without you.
When your smoking a blunt find this by accident and a trash can asks if your high
This particular video on this particular day has earned you an instant sub. Very enjoyable themes.
This made me get this game 😂😂😂
I didn't own this as a kid but my buddy did, and for years for the life of me I couldn't remember what it was called, thank you for bringing this nostalgia back
Loved this game. Especially the duel mode.
Absolutely nuts how slept on your channel is. Quality content from
Day 1!!!
This game is slept on 😴 one of my favorites star wars games
Yoo I’m too high for you to be talking to me like that 😂😂😂
Lmao😂
Finally I’ve found it, played this game all the time I was 6 when this came out. I played the battle royal mode daily for a few years. Hard to believe that was 20 years ago, I’ve always remembered this game but could never remember what it was called. Thank you for this nostalgie trip
Algorithm blessed me with your channel! Great stuff, truly!
Omg, this is one of those forgotten games of my childhood!! I remember playing this for hours but I couldn't remember the name! Thank you for bringing this up! I will need to set up an emulator and give it a go again. ❤
I was high when the vid started lol
this game is probably what made me love obi-wan so much by just playing him, also wanted to see more expanded stories with him in it
Me at 0:10 after a bong hit *👁👄👁
For the Lord all mighty, make more videos, dude. You're a genius.
I don’t sub or like much nowdays , but you got both out of me . What amazing content . Heralds back to the old days of youtube .
Was actually high and this tripped me out.
The fucking Buck Bumble reference lmfao that took me off guard
I got this game for Christmas in 2001. Absolutely loved it! Still my all-time favorite Star Wars game.
Someone making a funny, high quality video taking a look at, in my opinion, one of the most underrated Xbox games ever? Instant sub.
