Do Computer Engineering. There is a lot of money for computer science graduate. Basically if you are skilled and do 6 month certification you are set.

Mechanical engineers can't hire as a software engineer
Do a certification in something of interest, you are good. No need to get another degree. There is a lot of material on TH-cam, get yourself skilled in databases, programming, web designing etc
