@Tri and Noodle - I think the obvious reason why we'd fight Sin would be to prevent a new seed of corruption forming (or to "truly" kill the beast) Fun idea: act 6 ends with a _choice_ on killing either Sin or Innocence, with different rewards on the decision
Regarding Geonor digging up someone, I don't think they're digging up anyone in particular but just bodies in general to feed the beast. There's a bunch of grave stones when you enter the fight that Geonor destroys landing, and the exact dialog (I just read it as I'm typing this) is "Yes, another one. He's under there!". If they were looking for a specific individual there wouldn't be 'another one' Also he'll then later say "Yes! More! Don't stop! The Beast hungers" and you can see it pull a corpse in half and eat it
Some of the lore from certain characters is pretty cool. The Monk being from a cult that worships Chayula. Viper Napuatzi escaping us through a legion-like crystal. Doryanni referring to us as the "Demon of Atzoatl."
I gotta say: The fact that the lore is kind of esoteric and hard to understand adds to the vibe. I wouldn't like it if there was a journal where you can read up and i love that it is not plainly explained. It makes you feel more foreign in this world and makes it seem more foreboding.
16:37 so, I’m writing my first video script on the real-world inspirations of POE cultures. The Ezomytes, despite their naming conventions being very Norse inspired, are very Celtic-coded, and due to that particular combination of things have a lot of cognates with the historical Scots/Picts. (Not to mention the fact that an “ezomyte blade” in poe1 is a claymore) Scotland was a hybrid of Gaelic and Scandinavian cultures for much of its history due to repeated settlement by Nordic cultures, and the rebellions against the Roman-cognate eternal empire fit in just as well. I imagine there’s a similar hybrid culture going on here. The Kalguurans likely brought the runes in early expansion. (Or maybe they just share an origin culture.)
There were a couple of times where the dialogue changed depending on whether or not you skipped things, but nothing major. I remember being called "Crazy Lucky" by Oswald for finding the Monkey Temple (Forge) without him telling me about it, but nothing that would really change the experience.
One theory of time travel is that of you go back to try to stop an event (the downfall of your own civilization for example) you will inevitably become the cause of the event. The player only becomes "the demon of Atzoatl" due to time travel that hasn't happened yet. Probably trying to stop Atziri in the past and creating a causal loop. All the time travel is what broke the world and started to allow other worldly things to seep inside.
Loving the lore in POE2, thank god we finally have some proper story etc. My favorite act was the first one, quintessential dark fantasy right there that just matches the game, hopefully we'll have more of that later.
I want a lore box. A big diorama that animates with events from lore dialogue sequences that they update every once-in-a-while. That would be very cool, even if it had to be mtx-only.
I had no idea what everything meant and who everyone was in the story. And after this lore Podcast here I still have no idea what everything means and who everyone is. But I know now that I don't know more than I thought to not know. (Edit: I didn't play PoE1)
Okay, so journal can go core, but if it becomes mtx in some way, it should be a statue that turns into the speaking character and "speaks" the lines, or maybe even a vaal diorama thing, that shows an animated scene of lore related to certain key features of dialogue stuff, like events told to the character. Or maybe some sort of Story-Woman storytelling magic that makes smoke (or sand/dust) show images of the story being told. I mean, it's obviously better if it's just included in the base game, but maybe a special one just for the hideout could still be offered, on top of that.
Glad you two are also not a big fan of the time travel stuff 😅 This exact thing took me out of Last Epoch right from the start. In my opinion, the best thing to do with time travel is what a popular Anime did a while ago, in which you can travel in time, but only forward not backwards. This limits writing and might be boring, but also stops the butterfly effect, time travel loop-y stuff and so on. Either way, it'll be interesting to see how the story develops when we get Act 4 - 6 in 2025 and sh** hits the fan 😲
I'm doing 15/16 maps but i have not seen any pinacle stuff either the thing currently driving me is getting to see the cool unique fights but at a rate of 4-5 maps a day until i rage quit because i get unlucky and my maps don't selfsustain it'll take a while :D
I got screwed out of loot similarly to noodle in my trial, I townportaled out to dump my loot and pick up the boss drops, jokes on me can't ascend anymore or open the chests :D Had to do it all over again, and i was still on my warrior at that point.....
He has already experienced all these things. The Demon of Azoatl is when the Exiles from PoE 1 used Alvas portals to go back and raid Azoatl, kill Atziri, The Omnitect, Etc. The PoE2 character being the same entity is the most logical assumption for him to make. I would LOVE to talk about the lore with people. He obviously pulled something off to mitigate that incursion though, because Atziri is alive at the end of their History, so our raid could never have happened the way WE experienced it. I'd bet my bottom dollar that the roster of playable characters in PoE 2 ultimately become the Pantheon from PoE 1. EDIT: Also, us bringing Doryani back with us is why Malachai happened. Also also: This IS NOT WRAECLAST, Wraeclast is no more. Reality has literally melted and we're the only chance for anything to come out of it. EDITEDIT: We lose in the campaign. Kitava is reborn and unleashes all the terrors we were told of in the Karui tales. Reality is going to melt when the Eldritch entites get here. Spoiler: They are ALSO here specifically to kill The Beast.
I hope we find out who the count was trying to dig up. I have no idea other than Izaro but that seems unrealistic. We do go to his prison in Act 4 so they'd have to have brought him there
Keep playing endgame, there's wider more open maps, but they aren't at the beginning really. The coastal map is pretty wide for POE2, but there's quite a few of them though I don't remember any of the names.
The cataclysm has always happened no? We're just dealing with the fallout so we can see the endgame. I'd expect it to get revamped with the other 3 acts releasing and maybe giving some nods to it that the last cataclysm was averted by a mysterious group. Basically the story referencing the EA endgame and because it's time travel shenanigans we're now not doing that but our new endgame some 4th wall stuff while also not completely invalidating what we're currently doing, would be a nice solution, albeit a little convoluted but that's what you get for doing timetravel
the architect of time basically spoils the ending. he says "a man has multiple fates. from 1 to 50 or a thousand but will only get to live through one." time is immutable and uncontained, everything happens at the same time. so basically the endgame we have right now is one of those fates. but when the game releases we will get to play through the "INTENDED" path/ FATE we were meant to play through.
Regarding the Beast i have one theory. !st beast was massive but a bit formless, it fed itself on divinity. Oriana feed the Beast with dead Ezomyr who were gifted i think. Same in act 2, she want to feed beast with dead Maraketh. I have theory that this is forming a Beast to more human to fight humanity directly so there are no more gods. Also i think her "son" is the beast fully formed.
The reason they have 1 death per map is to make people care more about their defences, kinda like semi HC mode. Big problem with this is that mobs are way too unbalanced currently, so people die a lot, even with high defences. On death explosions, juiced modifiers, atlas map progress, it all contributes on making the feature feel like shit. If I fail map, I just rather go different direction in atlas or run fast tier 1 map to just get over it, that is not great.
Am i the only one who actually wonders about Doriani saying his dialog when you enter the room? The demon's something which almost seems like we are the demon's relative?
Obviously something happens to Sin, which is why he isn't in the refuge. I think Sin will sacrifice himself. Ultimately, we are unable to stop the inevitable. That is why the end game is a refuge and you are fighting to push back the corruption. Just battling against the apocalypse before the stolen time runs out.
No, Doryani is mistaking you for the Exile from POE-1. Atzoatl was raided in the distant past, when you meet Doryani in Act 3 of POE-2, this has already happened in his timeline. So, he assumes you are that person. That's the only thing that makes sense.
Ranger is fun to play but boring personality. Mercenary has the best personality and dialogue imo. Witch is kinda cartoony evil witch who likes evil stuff.
hey she draws the line at children... most the time. Unironically tho I do like the fact that the witch is unapologetically not a nice person. Shes not like, cartoonishly evil, or evil for the sake of being evil either imo, but she doesnt have many real ethics and seems to have a superiority complex where the main people of note to her are pretty much just other witches and even then she usually expresses disappointment in her "sisters".
The beast has always been an eldritch horror. I mean, you literally dive into a living mountain to kill it in poe 1. Walking around in a mountain sized tentacle beast is prerty eldritch to me lol.
@@Le300thMiner Didn't play peo1 so I only learned that when the got to it in the video which was after I wrote the comment :D Seems a weird choice of name to me, calling it a beast when it's a tentacly mess
Gonna say the witch feels a bit over the top crazy compared to PoE 1's witch who's VA is rumored to have left for religion. "It's not time to kill them all, yet." when you press an ability in town is still funny. Written a bit like Harley Quinn I think. Unlike PoE1 not all lore texts keep playing when you walk away. Oversight? I thought that was a good idea.
The one portal maps just snowball you into a downward spiral if ur struggling. Losing the whole map, losing the extra content if you rerun it, and losing xp at higher levels is too much.

The biggest surprise and pretty much elephant in the room is the fact that, despite their promises, they HAVEN'T improved story presentation at all. It's literally same dialogs as in PoE1. Amazing bosses and boss-related scenes definitely help, but they still need more in-engine short cutscenes to picque players' interest, now that the in-game graphics are good enough (although not too stellar - d4 models are more sophisticated, even though in terms of skill effects PoE2 is way ahead). Not to mention, the cinematic didn't even play in the beginning of PoE2 beta - either it's not supposed to be an intro, or it's a terrible oversight? I still loved the campaign, and I never liked PoE1 campaign - maybe because I've played through all iterations since 2012, but overall the pacing and story in PoE1 was terrible in my eyes. PoE2 feels better already, with adequate gray morality, cool characters and amazing environmental storytelling. The caravan alone is one of the best set pieces ever, I'm really envious of $480 supporters who have the hideout lol.
Streamer like you got paid to hype the game towards us. It's no near it was advertised in countless interviews. - Boring endgame - Repetitive maps - Tideous grinding - Obsolete on-death XP punishment - Cafting is just a theory; everyone just buys what they need - Massive bugs, visual glitches, disconnects - Lack of server performance - Group mapping is the only way of leveling - Missing 99.9% of MTX from PoE 1 - Game is barily playable in 1080p - 4K 120Hz? I can offer you 2 fps - In-game shop's MTX are too expensive - Copy/Paste low effort armor MTX with 2005 visuals - Massive currency inflation - Console experience is even worse Was there any negative streamer feedback from pre-testing the game? Just a single one from the above?? No. Because they were told to hold on their critics after the game launched and made money. PoE 1 Veterans get mad because it's not even close to the original experience. Casual players get frustrated because 3 hours of grinding laggy maps is worth nothing when you just die once. And every critic from players like myself is treated the same way: "Bro, chill. It's early access man. What do you expect? The game will be free eventually." The official forums are flooded with complaints, feedback, bug reports and opinions. Instead of begging us to give you our money to see you actually enjoying the game, and in return posting the same nonsensical build showcase video, you should stand your ground and talk about the real problems. You streamer people have probably forgotten this, but here's a friendly reminder: you're the player's representative, not the companies strategic marketing ambassador. If I invest time and money, I want something in return. In this case I can't enjoy playing because the game lacks in performance. And I can't progress because if I only make one mistake within two hours of grinding T15 maps and die, I'll be put back at the start of my XP bar.

Noodle still has some weird, inexplicable misconceptions about the atlas. We know that the maps, at least the ones we enter in PoE1, are part of an infinite land of dreams. The Atlas is the part of it that the Shaper managed to map out, but he didn't create it. We know (and she explicitly knows, she did a video about it!) that our favorite blue summoner guys are from out beyond the known edges of the atlas, and they aren't from anywhere near as far away as the Eater and the Exarch, who are minor components of much larger entities, whose influence even touches Wraeclast (There is a reason that the Exarch and Innocence both use the same descry). The Atlas is not some tiny pocket dimension that someone created. Meanwhile, some things we know happened chronologically: Kalandra arrives on Wraeclast The titans exist (PoE2... implies they may have been wiped out by Breachlords?) The precursor civilization Abyss (May not be important) Vaal Empire Eternal Empire The Godslayer's Rampage PoE2

There's a bunch of grave stones when you enter the fight that Geonor destroys landing, and the exact dialog (I just read it as I'm typing this) is "Yes, another one. He's under there!". If they were looking for a specific individual there wouldn't be 'another one'
Also he'll then later say "Yes! More!
Mercenary has some funny lines throughout. When you fight the Queen of Filth, after her intro he says something like "Eh, I've done worse" lol
@48:00 Its probably because Alva and the exile in POE1 kept raiding the temples. LOL they were going to the past to raid it.
I've played em all and mercenary has the best personality and dialogue, hands down, bar none. Not even close.
"Meet the dreamer"
@thekvng201 Blimey! Would you shut up about this dreamer bloke already!?
Favourite line's the one about Vaal elevators. Turns out the Vaal did indeed have elevators. 10/10 foreshadowing
Witch better
"a solid gold baby? I had a dream like this once" .. GGG wildin
They should have kittenkat narrate lore tombs in game.
16:37 so, I’m writing my first video script on the real-world inspirations of POE cultures. The Ezomytes, despite their naming conventions being very Norse inspired, are very Celtic-coded, and due to that particular combination of things have a lot of cognates with the historical Scots/Picts. (Not to mention the fact that an “ezomyte blade” in poe1 is a claymore)
Scotland was a hybrid of Gaelic and Scandinavian cultures for much of its history due to repeated settlement by Nordic cultures, and the rebellions against the Roman-cognate eternal empire fit in just as well.
I imagine there’s a similar hybrid culture going on here. The Kalguurans likely brought the runes in early expansion. (Or maybe they just share an origin culture.)
The Witch is the smiling guy in the Survivor / Gabon meme
There were a couple of times where the dialogue changed depending on whether or not you skipped things, but nothing major.
I remember being called "Crazy Lucky" by Oswald for finding the Monkey Temple (Forge) without him telling me about it, but nothing that would really change the experience.
Sorcerer voice lines were peak
They do have a rif on the golden key golden door line. It's the mercenary with the soul keys in act 3. It's fantastic
I hope you will meet up again after we have Acts 4-6
The witch in the game is insane I love her quips
Loving the lore in POE2, thank god we finally have some proper story etc. My favorite act was the first one, quintessential dark fantasy right there that just matches the game, hopefully we'll have more of that later.
SHES RIGHT ABOUT MUSIC BOX AND LORE JOURNAL THAT WOULD BE DOPE
I mean, it's obviously better if it's just included in the base game, but maybe a special one just for the hideout could still be offered, on top of that.
quick note, you can block the hits from the ghost, im running a titan support (for blocks) and i was tanking the thing lol
Glad you two are also not a big fan of the time travel stuff 😅
This exact thing took me out of Last Epoch right from the start.
I love how the whole PoE community is cross-podcasting literally every day. These vibes are immaculate.
Best quote from ranger is when she picks up mushroom
Fungus
Mercenary has the best dialogue hands down
I can't wait to see noodles lore videos!
Can´t wait to binge noodle videos.
7:30 The witch says that the slaves would be more efficient at pulling the caravan if they were dead. 🥴
Noodle i still sometimes sleep using your lore series as asmr. Your voice was so calming there.
Take a shot every time dude says “Noodle.”
Edtttttt: meeee DrUuuuNkks
I hope we find out who the count was trying to dig up. I have no idea other than Izaro but that seems unrealistic. We do go to his prison in Act 4 so they'd have to have brought him there
Best. Pod. Ever.
I wish the hooded one was innocence driven by his guilt to take up his brothers cause. And the goal was to free or even resurrect Sin.
Keep playing endgame, there's wider more open maps, but they aren't at the beginning really. The coastal map is pretty wide for POE2, but there's quite a few of them though I don't remember any of the names.
Vaal factory and auguey just suck man.
We, the player, are the demon doryani is referencing. Since we keep meddling in the temple.
Have only played Merc. Can't imagine anyone else having better comments. "Sorry mate, that went right over my head"
Yeah I don't see current endgame both gameplay or lore to stick. Poe 1 has already reworked endgame lore and systems plenty.
KittenCatNoodle? LOGIN !
"What's the deal.. with Doryani?" - Seinfeld
the architect of time basically spoils the ending. he says "a man has multiple fates. from 1 to 50 or a thousand but will only get to live through one."
time is immutable and uncontained, everything happens at the same time. so basically the endgame we have right now is one of those fates. but when the game releases we will get to play through the "INTENDED" path/ FATE we were meant to play through.
Lore!!! Gimme Gimme
When they put Bind Spectres gem in the game, I will bind one of those triceratops on the trial of chaos and name it "talkative Tri"
Some of these mobs gotta be tuned for spectre. Imagine dropping pinnacles with a spectre river hag.
Okay but how does Dominus get Doryani's gloves now that he's in the future?
Has he made multiple, or is it a replica?
No, Doryani is mistaking you for the Exile from POE-1. Atzoatl was raided in the distant past, when you meet Doryani in Act 3 of POE-2, this has already happened in his timeline. So, he assumes you are that person. That's the only thing that makes sense.
I saw some speculation about n that dorys patron is chaos but zana could be cool
Great Podcast i mean tricast
Requesting KittenCatNoodle Zarqa cosplay
Map size doesn't matter anymore, since. we can tele to all checkpoints by clicking on the checkpoints.
@warcheddar4163 she is kind of an edgelord though. Edgelady?
YE us poe 1 fans like did story right first time than skip all or just skip all if they crazy efficient type
If only each character you choose have different endings and that will affect the whole lore
Ow yeaaah, it's noodle timeh
really wondering what exactly the beast turns into it's look as of act 2 doesn't scream "beast" to me more like eldritch horror
The beast has always been an eldritch horror. I mean, you literally dive into a living mountain to kill it in poe 1. Walking around in a mountain sized tentacle beast is prerty eldritch to me lol.
@@Le300thMiner Didn't play peo1 so I only learned that when the got to it in the video which was after I wrote the comment :D
Seems a weird choice of name to me, calling it a beast when it's a tentacly mess
I Hope Theo dont add the splinter and fragment stuff to get to a single boss…make it like eater or exarch.
Nooooodleeeeeeeeeeeee! Wooohoooo! :D
Love is sent to all of you. Let's make Wraeclast grat again :D
Why did I think you were doing an interview with Whitney Cummings when I first seen the thumbnail…. To many comedian podcasts for me lately lol
Wait, who's becoming Garukhan?
instead of exploring tunnels in delv... we get mining the tunnels? :D
Count Geonor got mad and he thinks he is narrator from Darkest Dungeon :)
jamanra arc >>>>>
I think Doriyani does not know who the demon is only that they time travel
ah, i think why poe2 story is like fairietale vs poe1 full berserk mode
The one portal maps just snowball you into a downward spiral if ur struggling. Losing the whole map, losing the extra content if you rerun it, and losing xp at higher levels is too much.
Build more survivability
@@aeggeska1it's poe, bs one shots will always be there.
Cue iconic nugi clip from betrayal:
'Gotta build some defences'
Gets one tapped by Elreon jumping him.
NOOOODLE!
Where you been??
She made a video on her channel explaining everything
i most CERTAINLY had a diff experience on ranger than she did phew
with literally with lightning arrow / lightning rod i'd absolutely demolish the game - i went from lvl 1 to endgame within a day
anytime i had spirit on my gear and had room for Cast on Shock the build would ascend to crazy heights and every boss would just fall over within 5s
so for those looking to try ranger, don't let this video convince you theyre bad - they're batshit insane for lvling lol
Yo tri dont slam boots with only open suffix, life regen is a suffix😂
- Boring endgame
- Repetitive maps
- Tideous grinding
- Obsolete on-death XP punishment
- Cafting is just a theory; everyone just buys what they need
- Massive bugs, visual glitches, disconnects
- Lack of server performance
- Group mapping is the only way of leveling
- Missing 99.9% of MTX from PoE 1
- Game is barily playable in 1080p
- 4K 120Hz? I can offer you 2 fps
- In-game shop's MTX are too expensive
- Copy/Paste low effort armor MTX with 2005 visuals
- Massive currency inflation
- Console experience is even worse
Was there any negative streamer feedback from pre-testing the game? Just a single one from the above?? No. Because they were told to hold on their critics after the game launched and made money.
PoE 1 Veterans get mad because it's not even close to the original experience. Casual players get frustrated because 3 hours of grinding laggy maps is worth nothing when you just die once.
And every critic from players like myself is treated the same way: "Bro, chill. It's early access man. What do you expect? The game will be free eventually."
The official forums are flooded with complaints, feedback, bug reports and opinions.
100% agree with the ranger to monk switch. I made it to end of Act 2 as ranger and couldnt get any further.
Damn. I'm breezing.
I gave up on story on the wagon
I think the acts get spoiled by the supporter packs don’t they?
Kinda disappointed, I expected / wanted this to go for at least three hours! 😉
46:25 seriously bro i feel like the MOST obvious part is the part confuses you the most LOL
chris and his team already said that poe2 is a timeline in the future of wraeclast whereas poe1 is the past. and if you played incursion in your maps you would think of your self as a demon to those people LOL
Meanwhile, some things we know happened chronologically:
Kalandra arrives on Wraeclast
The titans exist (PoE2... implies they may have been wiped out by Breachlords?)
The precursor civilization
Abyss (May not be important)
Vaal Empire
Eternal Empire
The Godslayer's Rampage
PoE2
"Act 2 cruel"
