Screw the "legal ramifications" The confessions were not obtained through torture or any other harmful method. This detective did what he had to do to get answers for the families but it is of course much more important to protect the criminals than an experienced detective who got results.

Regardless of the Courts determination that the officers actions "undermined" justice for Shan, the family was supported by that officers decision to press the killer for information, the courts ruling that charges be dropped against the killer for the second murder demonstrates just how ludicrous and self defeating laws have become.

What an outstanding police officer? 💕 From my perspective, this disgusting criminal voluntarily confessed to the ‘first’ murder, with the clear knowledge that he was entitled to have legal representation because he initially kept wanting to ‘go back to the station’, as well as repeating, “No comment”, &, although being held under the ‘kidnapping’ predisposition, he placed the law enforcement officer in an unprecedented moral & ethical dilemma with the subsequent confession from a ‘serial killer’, by his offer to ‘show’ the officer where his ‘first’ deceased victim was. This is clearly of no fault to the officer, despite the legal requirement to read the criminal his Miranda Rights. He did ask the murderer, “Are you sure”, prior to being shown the burial location of his supposed first victim. I say ‘supposed’ because we don’t know how many more victims there may be. This is clearly a wrongful persecution of an outstanding law enforcement officer because if my child was murdered, I would prefer her body back over pathetic justice any day. In comparison to a body retrieval & justice, justice falls short because grief lasts a lifetime, & justice for such an atrocity contains no true equality. Eg: criminal compensation runs out over time, but loss & grief remains. It is deplorable that this law enforcement officer cannot be employed, whilst the psycho serial killer was eventually found guilty and sentenced for the same crime he voluntarily confessed to, & is probably laughing at the psychopathological position he put his ‘captor’ in. Forget the second body, he got in trouble for the first. We know this guy would not have confessed when with a solicitor as he didn't. Without the body it is incredibly difficult to even get her declared dead let alone get a murder conviction, he would likely still be murdering people.
Steve Fulcher took a chance when the killer (not alleged) had a moment of conscience and he uncovered another girl. The fact that the killer refused to talk after being taken to the police station only showed that Steve Fulcher had seized that moment of opportunity therefore to say that he should have adhered to the rules is beyond my comprehension and my utter disgust that he is penalised. If you were a victim of crime you would have wanted a Steve Fulcher on your case to investigate because he gets the job done. The officer HAD to breach protocol. If he had not, Halliwell would not have led him to either of the bodies. The fact that the bodies were FOUND according to the information that Halliwell provided to the detective proves the legitimacy of the interrogation, as well as Holliwell's guilt. The primary objective of law enforcement should be to keep serial murderers off the street.
The female judge who ruled the confessions inadmissible is a reflection of the complete loss of perspective on protecting the public; the priority was on following the procedures rather than ensuring evil is out of play.
Steve fulchers actions are complete common sense. PACE and the justice system needs to be revised. This man is an exemplar detective whose quest for justice is unequivocally. There is something wrong with the law when a serious crime would have been missed if this law had been obeyed by detective Steve Fulcher. Steve Fulcher's decision meant that another murder was admitted to by the murderer, and the victim's family could have closure.

You must have seen the same scenarios from a TV detective show. I forget the title of the series but in that episode the star detective throws caution to the wind, doesn't follow police assigned protocols and makes some kind deal with the kidnapper in order for him to show them where he had hidden his victim!! I think that show wrote to that script based on this particular event/case. The show although had a better ending compared to what this man did.
Common Sense says you take what the killer offers in the moment so the dead or the living can be recovered. No killers should ever walk because of litigiousness.

Surely this is an exceptional circumstance. Sometimes the laws rigidity is unfair and unjust to the person who does what is morally right. As Halliwell was found guilty of Becky's death the Steve Fulcher who was instrumental in finding Sian should've been reinstated to his role at the time it all happened and received public acknowledgement of his unfair treatment. Forget the second body, he got in trouble for the first. We know this guy would not have confessed when with a solicitor as he didn't. Without the body it is incredibly difficult to even get her declared dead let alone get a murder conviction, he would likely still be murdering people.
Steve Fulcher took a chance when the killer (not alleged) had a moment of conscience and he uncovered another girl. The fact that the killer refused to talk after being taken to the police station only showed that Steve Fulcher had seized that moment of opportunity therefore to say that he should have adhered to the rules is beyond my comprehension and my utter disgust that he is penalised. If you were a victim of crime you would have wanted a Steve Fulcher on your case to investigate because he gets the job done. Thank you Mr Steve Fulcher I am deeply disappointed and angry that you were failed by the authorities.

The officer HAD to breach protocol. If he had not, Halliwell would not have led him to either of the bodies. The fact that the bodies were FOUND according to the information that Halliwell provided to the detective proves the legitimacy of the interrogation, as well as Holliwell's guilt. The primary objective of law enforcement should be to keep serial murderers off the street.
The female judge who ruled the confessions inadmissible is a reflection of the complete loss of perspective on protecting the public; the priority was on following the procedures rather than ensuring evil is out of play.

It shows how convoluted the constraints on that Police officer are, it seems to be geared more towards protection of the criminal than enabling the Police to secure a confession.

I just wish more police were as honourable as Steve Fulcher. Doing what is right is often not much consalation, but in this case he has saved other lives, so he achieved so much. Others could be dead if he hadn't done what he did. Shame on the system that caused him to lose his job.

I wish we had more police officers like Steve! Laser focus and rules be damned when someone's life is on the line. Christopher was smart, tried to screw up the investigation by NOT repeating his confession. Unreal. Criminals have more rights than the victims. Unbalanced justice. He was treated unfairly. He was doing his job. Period. But another thing sticks out to me. The killer's children and wife. Their lives as they knew it were also over. They, too, were victims of their father's crimes. And I wonder how many more Christopher killed and buried?

There is something wrong with the law when a serious crime would have been missed if this law had been obeyed by detective Steve Fulcher. Steve Fulcher's decision meant that another murder was admitted to by the murderer, and the victim's family could have closure.

You must have seen the same scenarios from a TV detective show. I forget the title of the series but in that episode the star detective throws caution to the wind, doesn't follow police assigned protocols and makes some kind deal with the kidnapper in order for him to show them where he had hidden his victim!! I think that show wrote to that script based on this particular event/case. The show although had a better ending compared to what this man did.

DS Steve has integrity. The idea the procedures are inviolable is nonsense. He used sound judgement and should be applauded for that.
Surely this is an exceptional circumstance. Sometimes the laws rigidity is unfair and unjust to the person who does what is morally right. As Halliwell was found guilty of Becky's death the Steve Fulcher who was instrumental in finding Sian should've been reinstated to his role at the time it all happened and received public acknowledgement of his unfair treatment. Somalia - he'll be flat out there. But he was unfairly treated and common sense did not prevail. Shame on those who stand in their negative attitude towards his actions. 😔

I’m confused about why the cop was violating standards by ensuring that a crime had actually been committed by going to the site where there was allegedly a buried body. No one knew about this crime until then and they had no evidence yet.
I'm truly disappointed for that cop. I hope he's vindicated and that plenty of dough comes along with that vindication. For himself and his family. And i hope that the British Pace laws are revisited and revised.
