What happened to the other drummer?
When I first heard Temples, I thought they sounded like a modern band playing Beatle-esque tunes. A modern take on that great late 60s music.
Seen them live twice last year. Such a great and unusual sound :)
Temples have a great, thick sound that the bass contributes to in an unfathomable way. The bass and the kick need to come up a lot in the mix.
i thought so too! you can do so much with the rhythm section as a psychedelic band.

I cant be the only one who clicked on this half asleep through blurry eyes seeing a familiar looking radio stations name, singer with a gretsch, curls and a huge pedal board in front of him then another guitarist with a firebird-thinking this was a Night Moves video lol happy to have found another good band though good accidental discovery

Bass mix is garbage. Thomas owns his space, but I can’t hear it all.
The only reason I can think of that the bass missing from the mix is "not the best performance" of the bass player or simply tech issue like hum. Its better to take it out than let it destroy the mix.
liemack Yeah, i guess you’re right. The Bassline in Hot Motion really drives the song and it’s really a shame it’s not discernible.
They always have a bad bass sound. Which is sad because I love Tom’s sound on the album.
feels like they exported the live with a muted bass track but we can hear the bass coming through a bus track.

It's not your audio. You can't hear it hardly at all. Probably because he left that pickup cover on there. There's a reason those are typically thrown away. :)
Steven Brumbaugh it’s not the pickup cover. He’s played with this bass before. I’m pretty sure it’s the mix. Because James’ vocals are way too forward on this and there’s not enough reverb. These guys usually have a very great atmosphere to their live performances, and somehow any ambience they had didn’t get showcased well. Same thing happened when they came to KEXP to promote their second album in the studio. Their December 2016 KEXP performance is probably the best mix they’ve had.
@@MickeyDs14 it was a joke. I know they make no difference to the tone of the bass. It's rare to see someone keep it on though, so I thought I'd be clever. Guess it didn't work.

i love temples but i feel like their live performances always lack energy/personality. they're so close to being massive, wish they'd stop taking themselves so seriously

@Long Distance Coaster Relationships lmao this is why i never leave youtube comments. i've seen them 3 times, headlining their own show on the Sun Structures tour and at UK festivals. they are wicked and the songs are brilliant. but for me, charisma is a big part of what makes a live set enjoyable. they never seem enthused about how epic their songs are, or how awesome they look. they look bored. and rather than coming across as coy and mysterious, i find it really detracts from the whole experience.
@@_alex_cabre And this is why The Black Keys is probably still the worst show I've ever attended. Even if they didn't sound bad. They looked like they didn't want to be there. In contrast with Jack White who they occupy that lane with, he plays like a man possessed. Every show.
but I think they are getting better tho, from the live show I've seen in the past they slowly getting their confidence..
