    How many did you get right? Which letters/spellings were hardest for you?
    Leave a comment below, sharing what your native language is, and which examples are hardest for you to catch when doing these activities.
    Noticing the patterns in our mistakes is a great way to improve. :)

    • @IELTS_with_Vic
      @IELTS_with_Vic  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wonder if part of the difficulty in catching the 'a' is because in this word it comes after 'g' which ends in the /i:/ vowel, so a little intrusive /j/ might have been audible.

    • @IELTS_with_Vic

      They are very similar sounds, the main difference is that with /d/ there should be some vibration in the throat when we pronounce it - but this can be hard to hear when listening to letters being read out loud. The following videos should help you to train your listening skills:

      Good question! For street names, a good tip is to learn those common endings like street, way, avenue, close, and drive. That way you can concentrate on the first part of the street name and try to just hold the ending word in your mind as a chunk rather than letter by letter.

The vowel sound is the same in both, but the difference is that /t/ is pronounced with a puff of air, and /d/ is pronounced with vibrations in the throat. • @IELTS_with_Vic
      @IELTS_with_Vic  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question! 'uu' would be spelt aloud as 'double u' /ˈdʌb.əl.juː/ and the name of the letter W is pronounced in the same way /ˈdʌb.əl.juː/. However, there are only a few English words with a 'uu' spelling, so if you hear /ˈdʌb.əl.juː/ it probably refers to W. Hope that helps!
