@@crumbocrumbo6814 After a bit of research, it is caused possibly by old tea leaf fines that accidently get attached to the SCOBY and eventually go bad/rotten/moldy. Or maybe not cleaning good enough. But I now triple filter my tea so no grindings are left behind

Do you reuse the liquid when you start a new batch?
@@bryanturk4354 yes.....you keep some plain kombucha in the SCOBY hotel and use 2 cups of it for each gallon batch to get the kombucha started
