It's due to a limitation of the classroom; I'm up on a fairly high stage and there's nowhere to put the camera in front of me without putting it so far away that the sound is even worse than it is here. :(

Not necessarily. What if your values are bad values? For instance: a bank robber might be afraid before a bank job.
