Great beginners tutorial!! how do you deal with the PCC when you get a message that no stars were found? I've got hundreds if not 1000's and none found... it has worked occasionally
Output gets created when you do the star removal step. After processing, you will receive two files: the "starless" image (with stars removed) and the "star mask" image (containing only the star information). These will be in the home directory.
@flopearedmule4154 Glad I could help and make it easy for you. I'm learning more about making the videos, and I can certainly look into adding something for the pointers.
Sample placement tips: Avoid placing samples in the corners of the image. Avoid placing samples in areas of nebulosity. Distribute samples over the entire image, but only on the sky background. Then Validation After choosing samples, you can press Compute Background to see the result. You can click Apply to validate the result.
@@arielscosmiccorner Nice. You could try with shorter subs though and keep that pic. I know this is a beginner's tutorial, but GHS works amazing on HDR type targets like this.
@@arielscosmiccorner Agree with others, 300 secs is really too much for M45, the bright stars and gaseous halos will be blown out. With a 73mm f/6 refractor and an IMX571 OSC, I recently shot at 30 second sub lengths using around 800 subs in the final image.
Without really knowing all the details, it might just be your focal length you entered for the photometric calibration. I would start there and make sure all the info is correct. I hope that helps.
Thank you - best, easiest-to-follow tutorial I've seen yet!
Thanks, that means a lot!!
Thank you for this awesome video! it removed so much confusion from the program

@eriklehman3175 not sure on your data, but i always check focal length and my camera pixel size before hitting color calibration.
@@arielscosmiccorner makes a huge difference! AND you must not do any stretching before PCC
@@arielscosmiccorner thank you very much, Ariel!
Very useful video. But I've little confusion regarding where or how you generate the "satrmask" file? Thanks in advance.

Thank You! You made it easy to follow. Maybe make your pointer stick out a little more if possible.

can I be cheeky and ask for a Sirilic tutorial for multi night imaging?
@@drandrewclarke no promises, but let me see what I can do. Thanks for the request.
on the background extraction, should you make a lot of sample points?

What to type in photometry colour if you stacking whole milkyway
Hi what to do if you got red tint in background not the green one???
@januszciechowskiphotograph7297 check your steps on the background extraction and do the color calibration.
I am getting black and white image after stacking how to make it colorful.i have windows 7 pc starnet not supported
How long were your subs?
@@robj144 300sec
@@arielscosmiccorner Good video, but 5 minutes is a bit too long for M45.
@robj144 maybe, but Man, I love my picture!

Nice video. I get an error something like "unable to plate solve", do you know what would cause that? That happens every time. Thanx for the info.
