His weakness is running out of gas. The most powerful cards for Animar's 99 are ones that have few colored mana pips and draw you cards. Here's a few elemental-themed suggestions under $5 a piece: Smokebraider - elemental tribal mana dork Mulldrifter - card draw Slithermuse - card draw Regal Force - card draw Soul of the Harvest - card draw Avenger of Zendikar - army in a can And here's a few non-elemental creatures that you really ought to consider: Birds of Paradise - the OG GOAT of 1-drop mana dork Wood Elves - ramp on an elf, can grab nonbasic forests Farhaven Elf - ramp on an elf Fauna Shaman - creature tutoring on a creature Acidic Slime - artifact/enchantment/land removal plus deathtouch body, usually trades up and usually 2-for-1s Neoform - creature tutoring Eldritch Evolution - creature tutoring
I agree, but this is what my wife wanted for her deck. Requirements were elementals. That was the big thing, so she gets what she wants to play ;). If we ever wanna go bonkers with the deck, I have an Eldrazi build for it, she hated it because it was too mean.
