i honestly like boltwave a lot. but the best (not standard legal) foundations card is the new minotaur warrior who turns stuff into cowards. its just peak concept
Wizards has stated they're nerfing ramp for future standard sets. Even if the artifact came into play tapped and sac'd to produce mana I think they're very hesitant to produce such a card. Lest they produce another broken Lotus. lol
For cards that I've actually purchased and put in decks, Bulk Up is a slam dunk for my Kalamax voltron deck, doubling up a power doubling combat trick is quite effective Can't wait for the next parody song! Remy has great musical taste and clever lyrics, so it's always a treat
Foundations is a great set IMO. Good for getting people into the game, good for people who are already in the game to pick up more staples. I want a Maze’s End tho for my Nine Fingers Keene deck
Reprinting Fabled Passage and Solemn Simulacrum.. though that was the previous one I think. Those two cards are staples in all of my decks. Also the new wrath of god with no drawbacks is great.
Exemplar of Light was an extremely powerful upgrade to my life gain angels & clerics deck. Herald of Eternal Dawn isn't a bad slot either, and both have incredibly beautiful borderless versions.
@AnaIvanovic4ever Sometimes a designer takes a swing and misses, but that's also how you get great stuff. I don't think that's what Remy means. The boxy or disjointed stuff is a result of lots of people putting their own requirements in. Some deceees (like safety) are good, but many are not. And what's inevitably lost in the shuffle is a single vision.
My favorite CARD from Foundations is Muldrotha the Gravetide, but that’s just because I’m attempting to make my Muldrotha Commander deck completely German and blinged out. My favorite NEW card from Foundations (so far) is High Fae Trickster - turns out instant-speed Vedalken Orrery can lead to some stupidly powerful turns out of almost nowhere.
As an Orlando, FL resident, it would be irresponsible of me to not bring up the infamous "I-4 Eyesore" Majesty Building. A lone skyscraper far from the rest of the city proper, it was built over 2 decades ago by a religious broadcasting organization using solely donations until their funding ran out, and they just never finished it.
I was somehow convinced it'll be Hare Apparent, mostly because of the slime deck 😅. I'm sure the rabbit is in Remi's top 3. There's Anthem of Champions, it's close to Honor off the Pure
The local building for the regional government is hideous in my town. They slapped it up right next to the largest intersection, blocking the view from every direction, and it's just... a big box. Just a box. I hate it.
Card I like best in Foundations: Rampaging Baloths. More lands, more beasts. Ugly building I like least: Condon Hall on the campus of the University of Washington.
As the Magic idiom states: "bolt the bird, or in this case the elf." Just don't bolt the building, even if it is ugly because that's anarchictic demolition.
I mean... if you're gonna pick a green card as the one you like best, you may as well splash green for weenies and run Anthem of Champions. Now you got your Honor of the Pure equivalent. 🙂
Worst was the advent of 'modernist building' when people though that bare concrete was beautiful and big blocky cement cubes should fill the sky line. If I wanted to look at that I'd stare into a bag of rocks.
Brutalist architecture (the term for the architecture movement defined by a heavy use of bare concrete) *can* look good if aesthetics are taken into account with how the building will fit into its environment. But, yes, I agree that generally a lot of the time they tend to be drab and uninspiring.
That "the card I like best" screen at the beginning and end would make a pretty cool card sleeve, ngl And yeah, modern architecture is trash. Remember how McDonald's looked in the 90s? Now all the McDonald's are ugly and grey
Llanowar Elves, Wrath of God, Stone Rain, Birds of Paradise, Raging Goblin, Pain Lands. Counterspell. These should all be eternally standard staples, and playable. The format needs to adjust itself to these cards, and should never be too powerful for them, nor weak enough that they become too good.
Card I like best from Foundations? The kitty doubling season is probably cheating... so I'll say Blasphemous Edict or Arabho. The ugly building I like least? That one in Denver that was supposed to look like the mountains but actually looks terrible in person.
City Hall in Boston, Massachusetts. That's not even a metaphor. It's this awful, soviet-inspired beige concrete brutalist piece of garbage floating on a sea of bricks across the way from some beautiful historic buildings like Faneuil Hall and the old State House.
My least favorite building is the United Nations General Assembly building. It looks like one of those old-time speakers they put on school yards to end recess and that also happens to be what the UN is doing most of the time.
Living in Central Florida, there's no way to avoid the topic of Ugly Buildings without mentioning the "I-4 Eyesore" Constructio on it began in 2001 and as of today it still sits there incomplete for all to see. If you have a daily comute that takes the highway, guaranteed you are sick of seeing that monstrosity. Love your videos Remy! Happy Holidays!
Unfortunately, it seems that we only get really beautiful buildings from corrupt monarchies or traditionalist dictatorships (soviets need not apply). You can get a really beautiful church when it is also serving as propaganda for the state.
I too love elves and hate bad architecture.
For me it's the opposite cause polemic attracts views ! I hate bad elves and love architecture !
Remy, I am in complete agreement with every word you say in this video.
You're so concrete in these videos
That joke was brutalist
I feel like you should do a weekly "things I like the best" of the week.... :D
I have no idea what you would say but I'd be here to watch it. :)
Good question. I like several of the new hydras.
I like best Remy content and I like least having to wait for it😅.
The card I like best in every expansion is Island (aside from Arabian Nights)
i honestly like boltwave a lot. but the best (not standard legal) foundations card is the new minotaur warrior who turns stuff into cowards. its just peak concept
The card I like best in this set is my favorite card of ANY set: Doubling Season
the alt art with the cute cats is the best!
@ Yas! Sold my trade binder to get a foil one 😅
Hmmm~ I think my favorite MTG Foundations card is Balmor :) So fun to win hitting for a billion combat damage in Blue/Red.
I always wish for a 1 cmc mana rock in every new set that could compete with Llanowar Elves. It should probably enter tapped though.
Llanotired Elf
Wizards has stated they're nerfing ramp for future standard sets. Even if the artifact came into play tapped and sac'd to produce mana I think they're very hesitant to produce such a card. Lest they produce another broken Lotus. lol
@@MysteriousSoulreaper Yeah, i know, i know... but one can dream
Hey Remy, I just wanted to say thank you for just, being...It helps, a lot :) So, thanks for the creativity and time.
I like the big vanilla one
For cards that I've actually purchased and put in decks, Bulk Up is a slam dunk for my Kalamax voltron deck, doubling up a power doubling combat trick is quite effective
Can't wait for the next parody song! Remy has great musical taste and clever lyrics, so it's always a treat
The card I like best in foundations is Leyline Axe. It's really funny, and it's another card I can put into my growing Tribal Leyline deck
Foundations is a great set IMO. Good for getting people into the game, good for people who are already in the game to pick up more staples. I want a Maze’s End tho for my Nine Fingers Keene deck
I could never pick a favorite from the 25 million Foundations cards.
Happy Holidaze, Sir! 🎄🎆🎉 Happy to fight your Slimes any time! ⚔
I think my favorite card from Foundations (so far) has been Curator of Destinies, the Fact or Fiction Sphinx. Llanowar Elves is a good choice though!
Reprinting Fabled Passage and Solemn Simulacrum.. though that was the previous one I think.
Those two cards are staples in all of my decks.
Also the new wrath of god with no drawbacks is great.
You rock remy! Thanks for your hard work!
Exemplar of Light was an extremely powerful upgrade to my life gain angels & clerics deck. Herald of Eternal Dawn isn't a bad slot either, and both have incredibly beautiful borderless versions.
Pretty buildings come from spending other people's money, and ugly buildings come from other people telling you how to spend your money.
No. Ugly buildings come from talentless architects wanting to be original, unique and edgy.
I'm a Legacy Goblin player, so Dropkick Bomber, Searslicer and Kreat are my new toys.
The card I like best in this set is probably mystical teachings although it's very close to doubling season.
Scourge of the Wild Forest. I love that card.
Maybe Arahbo, the First Fang. I pulled a foil and a mana foil of it. There is also the damage-doubling dragon.
Looking forward to the christmast special
yeah, called it, Llanowar elves is an amazing card, always has been, and the reprint makes it standard legal and cheaper 👍
This is the Remy based content I like best.
What a card! What a choice.
I was somehow convinced it'll be Hare Apparent, mostly because of the slime deck 😅. I'm sure the rabbit is in Remi's top 3.
There's Anthem of Champions, it's close to Honor off the Pure
Always a fan of new Wurms
Kind of surprised your fav isn't Hare Apparent. I like that one. But the Anime Lanowar Elves is pretty cool.
Relatable. Very relatable
Brutalist architecture is great.
56 slimes against humanity 4 elves
all i want for christmas , is blue, blue spirits....
I love me some soldiers so i'm going to go with Anthem of Champions. I like both the regular and full art!
Llanowar Elves?? This man probably thinks ketchup is spicy.
The local building for the regional government is hideous in my town. They slapped it up right next to the largest intersection, blocking the view from every direction, and it's just... a big box. Just a box. I hate it.
Elves ftw! Miss my elf deck. XD
Hare Apparent. My meme commander proxy deck runs 50 of em.
Brutalist architecture is Orzhov. Change my mind.
Card I like best in Foundations: Rampaging Baloths. More lands, more beasts.
Ugly building I like least: Condon Hall on the campus of the University of Washington.
I like llanowar elves best in foundations. But my favorite mana dork and elf of all time is elves of deep shadow.
Ironically, since I’ve never bothered making a deck my only real one was the Nissa 2016 pre con. Elf enough.
Raise the past song would be 🔥🔥
Heck yea
At least the building was ugly.
Dallas City Hall. Where dreams go to die.
goblin dropkicker
are you ever gonna put your songs on streaming platforms like spotify?
Ugly buildings are the worst!
As the Magic idiom states: "bolt the bird, or in this case the elf."
Just don't bolt the building, even if it is ugly because that's anarchictic demolition.
Nothing better than bolting the buildings where treasure tokens are stored!
I mean... if you're gonna pick a green card as the one you like best, you may as well splash green for weenies and run Anthem of Champions. Now you got your Honor of the Pure equivalent. 🙂
I am curious about what everyones favorite scetch or music video is. I can't really decide. So much choice.
My favorite is definitely Flowers, he just looks so happy being his own best friend. Supreme verdict is a strong contender though.
@@Aimlesswaves. Each time i think this is my new favorite he brings out another good one. Maybe i choose the elite Vanguard videos i like those XD
❤
Wait, was Llanowar Elf NOT in Standard? No wonder I stopped playing MTG…
But I’ll keep watching Remy regardless!
This is wild because I'm also currently building an Elf deck and Llanowar Elves, the Jumpstart Foundations version to be exact, is also my favourite.
"oozing convincingly" I don't want to know
Worst was the advent of 'modernist building' when people though that bare concrete was beautiful and big blocky cement cubes should fill the sky line. If I wanted to look at that I'd stare into a bag of rocks.

But, yes, I agree that generally a lot of the time they tend to be drab and uninspiring.
Brutalism too brutal for you? Admittedly, it's an acquired taste.
watching the video i wondered why the fuck u would write that. now i understand.
I realized that something must be wrong with Magic if I was overly excited to see Llanowar Elves reprinted.
That "the card I like best" screen at the beginning and end would make a pretty cool card sleeve, ngl

_Counterspell_ counterspell? You wilding out here

I'm one of those schmucks who's happy about bloodthirsty conqueror.
Land of war. 👀
I guess you hate Anthem of Champions then because it has green.

I love mana dorks but they do tend to make pushed cards even more problematic.
llayyy for llanowaaaar!!!
Niv Mizzit is great.

For real.
Nice
I like Hare Apparent cause it is bnuuy.
Yes, I love bnuuys too.
There is a 2 mana anthem in the set its just GW
I'm here for the negative content 😂
Remy, you need to look up images of Cumbernauld shopping centre in Scotland. It's fantastically ugly.
I like smokestacks least.
IDK I feel like a 1 mana mana dork is too strong. Though one has to admit that modern standard is probably stronger than early 2010's modern, so...
Why don’t you film a draft?
I hate the I4 Eyesore
I fully agree haha
bc engineers hate architects
I like all ugly buildings the least
i hate the buildings when i drive by alexandria virginia they are all different colors and look rusty imo
Not a fan of the trellick tower hate. put some respect on it bro
Remy, save us from the bot with top comment 😫

All those ugly cement buildings from the 70's, what is this the USSR?
Right, listen hear. Brutalisem is funking awesome, and I'm not hear to debate this fact
hey i like some of those ugly buildings
Post-modernism is awful all around, from philosophy to architectural style.
Love that the pretty buildings he showed were financially disastrous and centuries old
