I can’t travel much, but I like your videos. My daughter-in-law and son love to travel. I’ll have to share your videos with them. She is from Ukraine. She is now an American citizen for almost two years. I remember watching My big fat Greek wedding. Is it really like that?

Hi! Thanks for watching and for sharing! That is so kind of you. Congratulations to your daughter-in-law for having her US Citizenship. I hope she is fond of living in the USA. Oh and the movie, The Big Fat Greek Wedding. We loved it! My father who passed away in 2009 loved it so much! He watched it many times. It really has a ton of truth to it. Both sides of my grandparents were Greek immigrants to the USA and they all opened restaurants. Also everyone was basically required to marry a Greek. The pressure to marry. The wedding with the cousins etc. I am telling you, those are my family! haha!

@ So you were married to a Greek man?

No, I was a rebel. haha! My Mom and Dad both were Greek, but their parents only approved of them marrying a Greek. So, they didn't do that to me. :)

I just discovered your channel. Thanks for posting. We are thinking about visiting Greece for the first time. My first question is August a good time to go? We only speak English and Spanish, will language be a challenge? Thanks

I would say end of August. That's when I like to go, last week of August and Early Sept. There is a religious holiday that is widely celebrated and many Greeks leave to go on their own holiday. The day of Virgin Mary. On August 15, The Greek Orthodox church celebrates the Assumption. The language issue won't be an issue. I am not fluent in Greek at all. I do speak some words, if you brush up on words like Kalemera "good morning" or "Ef-ha-ri-sto" for Thank you. Just some words to use to be polite and you will do fine. In Athens, Santorini, Milos, Naxos, Paros.. I had no issues at all speaking English Most signs are in English and in Greek! Thank you for watching and commenting. Let me know what other questions you have!!

A large majority of Greece speaks English - primarily because it's a required course in grade school. But, also because of it being such a tourist hub. Kathy mentions great words to know good morning and thank you. You can also say" Milas Agglika ((do you speak English) or xriazome voitheia - i need help - but honestly, you'll run into other americans and you'll find friends and hang out buddy's when you go :) - and as we say - kalo taksidi - good travels!!

Thank thank you so much for all the information so helpful
Of staying in Santorini is it possible to have like a day trip to different islands rather than going with luggage’s from hotel to hotel
    What do you recommend?
We wanted to use beach as much us possible so it’s relaxing but at the same time fun as we love exploring

Thanks for watching. What about an all day catamaran? I wouldn’t really leave Santorini to spend the day on another island. If you love beaches stay at Santorini just a few nights then go to Naxos for several nights. Amazing beaches on Naxos.

Thank you so much for that tip
Catamaran would you have a suggestion which one to go with ?
We are planing a trip for about 9 days
So you are suggesting to spend 3 days at Santorini then head to Naxos ?Or would you think it will be too much to add one more island ?
Which area would you recommend to stay so it’s walking distance to shops and stuff at night in Santorini ?
So glad we found your Chanel thanks for all the tips so helpful

Ok, for Santorini. I like staying in Imerovigli. But, it is quiet. If you want a busy place to stay go to Oia or Fira. However, you can walk to Fira from Imerovigli. I love Imerovigli, the views are incredible and it isn't crowded. The island is small, and hiring a ride to get anywhere is easy. As far as squeezing in another island, we went to Santorini for 3, Naxos for 4, and then Koufonisia for 3 nights. Koufonisia is a tiny island not far from Naxos, very authentic I loved staying there. We stayed www.booking.com/Share-wS6muE. Now for the catamaran in Santorini, we enjoyed a long day out on HTTPS://www.viator.com/tours/Santorini/Santorini-Luxury-Catamaran-Day-Cruise-with-BBQ-drinks-transfer/d959-7207P15. So in the end from what you are saying, I would do: Santorini for 3, Naxos for 4, Koufanisa for 2, or you could cut a day out of Naxos and spend a day in Athens or, cut a day out of Santorini and Naxos and 2 in Athens. But, with 9 days, I would say if you really want to see 3 islands, do Santorini for 2, Naxos for 3, Koufanisa for 2, and Athens for 2. You will be on the move a lot and that makes for missing some time in some really amazing places, So honestly ( am not sure if you plan to spend time in Athens?) I would do 3, 4, 3 somewhere. Let me know if Athens is in your plan,
