Man this talk is so good. Just watching it randomly for the 5th time or so. How you guys are just letting him say whatever flows outta him. And giving him the time. Interview-Situations like these are so Important for artists and such a safe space. The way Ariel explains his approach to music is just inspirational!
this is actually one of the most forthright admissions of one's creative process i've ever heard. it's really articulate--even though his pauses sometimes seem boorish.
Pre-fame, AP was so sincere and straight; fame has created ironic complexities for his personae -- that prevents good info from interviews; don't lose this interview for the sake of future critical writings.
@@elyvenkus7485 right...I wrote that 5 years ago...and no one can be ultimately cool forever...I'm hoping he comes out with a great new album and does more production work...
yeah, just cause someone acts differently than you doesn't mean their crazy or addicted to drugs. those are just ways of explaining away differences. reality isn't that tidy and black and white. show some respect.
You are right but Ariel has an extensive history with drugs, hard ones included, so its not really out of the question for him to be under the influence of something in most videos
Ariel pink is a recovering drug addict. He said it himself. Not a knock on his creativity or his character. It’s perfectly human to no be perfect. I kno lots of drug addicts
Renata Lofrano Exactly how is his work process "revolution"? Maybe you meant that he approaches and carries out his work process in a revolutionary way?
@@thomasberry8012 bc he makes music like painting. who the hell does that. like he just wakes up and records something like putting a few strokes on a painting and then in the end its something. normally those are demos but thats his final product
such an interesting interview, his music makes so much more sense to me now! Does anyone see the parrallel between him and MES of the fall? in terms of the stream of consciousness lyrics and his lack of musical ability, and yet his music is nothing but totally honest and sounds so much better for it.
Ok,so would you say "LIPSTICK" WAS RECORDED DURING THE NIGHT? You surely have a very unique way of making your music....But you're doing it, and that says A LOT.. kEEP IT UP,DUDE! You rock!!!
I never really know if AP is on drugs during interviews, or if he's just incredibly awkward. I think its mostly the awkwardness, because as the interview progresses, he seems more comfortable. He also shares very specific views and beliefs about music, so I can see that being a cause for him being nervous. I think he is brilliant.
okay this is a great amazing honest sincere interview. go ariel! thanks for the info, gonna try it out myself what kind of 8 track? have to figure out what you use
@@civilsocietyprivateinteres1711 Source? Well I was kind of being sarcastic but there are some tell tale physical signs he's displaying if you know. Other than that, no one I know has a "source point" for when they quit abusing prescription meds... I just don't think it was something they wanted the whole world knowing about. Ya know, like a private situation type deal?
Dude still wears the same shoes. I saw those exact pair in a 2020 video lol. Love Ariel.
Ariel Pink starter pack
I've heard wearing the same clothes over and over is a sign of a psychosis...Speaking as someone who may be psychotic
it looks likes hes a patient in a mental hospital
lol but sadly true
A pretty chill mental hospital with lawn chairs
Fck off man
You should be so lucky to be in that hospital.
i think that’s the point
This is the best Ariel Pink interview I've seen.
There's actually a lot of substance in this interview. I'm glad I watched it
Nicholas Coletti Just as in him
Nicholas Coletti Ariel pink is like a celestial body, similar to a sun that just radiates power and energy
as in substance abuse
You don't get interviews like this anymore from him. He's way too jaded nowadays which is understandable. Makes these old interviews shine more
Man, the Riviera is just as fancy as I'd imagined.

I can so relate: middle of the night, home recording, noise transgression, neighbour complaint....Ariel, thank you for being (who you are).
You got any links to yr music?

weird place for an interview dudes
That intense leg slap @ 5:46.

Ariel's a genius and one of a kind.
this interview has made me so much more of an ariel fan
musical genious
He's like a combination Dax Flame and Kurt Cobain

@IamianaimaI Syd Barrett.
El mejor solo del mundo.
i think hes just sitting on a chair too small for him and hes probably talking to someone who doesnt speak english

Seems like an uncomfortable chair, leg-wise
