This build is fricken OP, I love it! If you want to spam DP before ascending, get Zepheri's last breath flask and a large Sapping health flask. Then use the health flask then immediately Zeph flask and you can sustain spamming DP, which you can keep up indefinitely. Thank you for the video and build! Very nice presentation!

I am a noob at this game. And when 3.0 came out, I thought lets give it a go. Searched the youtubes for a build. And then I decided to give your stun sunder beginner build a try. Well I loved it. I have that toon at 80 now. Ready for something else. Now I want to really push it. Kill Shaper??? I hardly understand the atlas. But your guides are the best of the whole internets :P. Great build, don't do what i did and map for 10 levels with Elemental Overload still in the tree and wonder why crits felt so unsatisfying! Bosses are a little bit of a struggle early on as I found myself losing life from casting and not leeching back nearly enough but if you roll your maps with damage mods so you take savage hits more often it makes bosses way easier. Also props for including a written guide alongside the video, a lot of people don't bother doing this but it's much easier to find a specific bit of info in a written guide than in a video.
Exciting build, got me to level one up.. I'm 48 now and leveled up to this point with Sunder and swapped to dark pact now. Dark pact at 48 is totally fine. I invested ~25C in gear to get some life, resistances and crit and made all the gem links suggested in the guide. I absolutely wreck everything right now. Thank you!
I'd say key to dealing enough damage is not using increased aoe but using conc effect. At this stage the extra damage from conc effect is needed to sustain yourself with leech. Kinda late to comment, but there is an easy way to level DP characters without using multiple spells. 1. Get to Lv 12 2. Get 2x Essence Drain. Vendor one along with a magic (blue) wand to get +1 Level to Socketed Chaos Gems 3. Get to Lv 28 easily 4. Get Dark Pact gem and socket in a Xirgil's Crank Staff 5. Link DP to Void Manipulation, Controlled Destruction, Added Chaos Damage (4L) 6. One-shot everything like you've already completed the build This leveling method was so effective I actually enjoyed the leveling process. I still use this for any Life builds that I'm leveling now, since all you need is a 4L staff and one DP spell--no need for buffs like Heralds or Hatred (though they'll help). You're free to use all your other sockets to level your other gems. I 6-linked my Wither Totem in a Tabula Rasa for Act bosses. Disclaimer: You will need a Mana potion, or some sort of Mana Regen, up till whenever you can use Blasphemy linked with Warlord's Mark. P.S.: I highly recommend using Kikazaru rings to level as well. Each ring provides Mana Regen, All Attributes, and 1 Life Regen per level, everything that this build needs for leveling. AFAIK, you don't need any leech from the tree or ascendancy for this leveling method. I personally leveled a Shadow to 60+ with this.
Honestly try build on your own, you are mostly likely to mess up but you will learn a lot trying to fix that build. After 2 or 3 builds you can definitely understand much than what you will playing 1000's of hrs of others build. Edit: if you have atleast some knowledge then use others idea instead of just copy pasting.
Engineering Eternity...I must say this guide is the BEST guide I have seen. You answered everything and it was very on point. May I ask you what software you use to produce this video? For video editing and the slides with animations? It is top notch production quality sir :)
I use the Adobe Suite for making my videos. Still images are modified in Photoshop, animations are made in After Effects and then they are pulled into Premiere to layer them all together along with voice over and music.
There is a mistake in the video, u got Arctic Armor on gloves aswell as on boots, one should have been Herald of Ice. In the written guide it is correct. :-) anyway great video! keep it up :)

I'm currently playing a very similar build, and would heartily recommend a "Hidden Potential" jewel, at the very least for leveling. 200+% increased damage for two points and a couple of chaos is insanely strong. I will also give a mention to the chest armour "The Covenant", which provides free blood magic for your dark pact, and a free lvl 15 added chaos damage. It means a 5 link turns into a pseudo 6 or 7 link, depending on if you care about the blood magic or not. The top end damage is slightly hampered with this however, as you will not have the lvl 21 added chaos damage when the build is maxed out.
Solid options! I had forgotten about that chest when considering other uniques. Hidden Potential is a very good option as well, as long as you are not using a lot of leveling uniques :P
I know that if u have problems for bosses u can put in a vaal summon skelletons (mostliky in the left over socket when u dont have a 6link) so u get mutiple over lapping dark pact which should one shot most low tier map bosses and should deal a good junk even to guardians.
+OpssaZ Yea I did try Vaal SS for a bit. My only issue is they did around the same damage, but would wander away from bosses or vis versa and I wouldnt be able to cast on myself til it went away, making me really vulnerable.

I actually just had a really well rolled bisco's collar drop last night from a Xoph's breach stone with a belly aswell. Time to start on this build until I finally get a xophs blood I guess.
Great video, and an additional grats on the links in the text (I hate videos that could have been done better in 10 lines of text) I am really enjoying my new Dark Pact Berserker based on this guide, over my previous Glacial Miner Shadow. The pastebin though, is completely unrealistic with ideal duplicated items (jewel) + the others. I would have more enjoyed the real pastebin, even though non-optimal, as everyone else's is, or ideally both.

Hey bro, what brought me to this game was the crit facebreaker one punch build but now I see in 3.0 its no longer viable? Is there any way you can do a build that goes full unarmed one punch style ( not ancestral warchief). I am only 50 hrs into the game so I do not yet have the experience to craft a viable build. Can you please lend your expertise on how to approach it?
Could you expand on what end game gear you could do to take this build even further? or anyone have some suggestions I have everything recommended, but lots of currency and I want to beat the shaper!

Was wondering since you mentioned in your guide here that this build has lots of room for upgrades to do more end game content. I didn't catch in the guide what you recommend for the build if someone wanted to do like say guardians and shaper? If you could give me a few tips here I would appreciate it! Would Esh's Mirror add anything substantial to this build? Was concidering running with it. Oh, and it works semi-decently from 40'ish up to 60 if you're in a rush to play around with dark pact, been leveling with it myself, you just gotta watch your hp closely. (i've only ascended once so far, and always carrying a bubbling potion is a lifesaver!) I would however tell newer players to just follow the build set up for leveling though, as not doing so can get pretty rough after act 6. All in all this has become my new favorite build, good work!
There are certainly builds that can still make use of ES, but certainly not builds like this one. You have to play ES with more mechanical dodging and less face tanking.
Brilliant guide and great, fun build. I have a query similar to another comment here though - the odd boss (most recently, Factory), just seems to not leech at all. Is it the type of damage that doesn't proc the savage hit, so the raw damage never does enough to cover the life spend? It seems really hard to mitigate compared to others who are a breeze. End up with a lot of kiting and portalling for flask charges
If anyone wants to use Dark Pact ealier, I'd recommend it from level 41 after taking Pain Reaver, but only with Nycta's Lantern and Tabula Rasa. You can link Scorching Ray+CWC+Firestorm on Nycta's Lantern (better dmg than with 6link) and Dark Pact on Tabula Rasa, with same support gems as mentioned in the guide. Dark Pact is going to be weak but you can use it to kill all normal/magic mobs much quicker than with Firestorm. This also let's you level all your support gems needed for DP ealier. Getting granite flask is also incredibly helpful because you want to be in the middle of mobs and it grants you about 70% phys red. I'm leveling like this all the time, firestorm for rare mobs and bosses, DP to quickly kill things
When you describe the build in the beginning you mention Herald of Ice, but in the skill gem portion there is no herald of ice included, however there is 2 arctic armor gems included, is it safe to say that once of them is supposed to be Herald of Ice since its also a green gem? I've started making your build, and the moment I was able to use Dark Pact I went on it. I wanted to know if I could run with it at level 28 because you said you didn't start with it. With an Orb of Storms and a Wither Totem, the build has a very decent amount of damage. It's fairly good at all enemies at a low level like this. Of course because I'm level 28, I don't have life leech, so health is a big problem, but it's still doable. You'd just have to be careful. I just wanted to put this out there! So far I'm loving the build! Can't wait to level some more.
I recently started playing PoE and have made it to mapping and trying to prepare for uber lab to unlock the last ascendancy ponts. Since I have started mapping I have found 2 divine vessels. I know the pantheon bonuses are situational so could you please make a guide covering them?
For doedre elixir triggering cloak in savagery mechanic : How do you get to -40% chaos res with this build ? Some chaos damage nods in the build also include Chaos resistance.
Hey just wondering why we need to keep the gems at a certain lvl Arcane surge support 8 blade vortex 10 and bladefall 8. On the poe build pastebin u have bladefall at lvl 20. Could you help me out please?
I forgot to change the levels in the pastebin. They are those levels so they will trigger with the CwDT. The arcane surge is that level so it will trigger on every use of OoS due to the lower mana cost of the skill.
Why Fortify only lvl 4? And it's Romira ring bad for this build?! PS: isnt better for bosses to dual wield APEP's Rage wand + Void Battery? Or Apep's + elem dmg shield orLioneye's Remorse shield?

Leveling with Dark Pact is actually quite effective, since I disliked Scorching Ray + Firestorm. There are two things you'll need though. You'll need the Pain Reaver ascendancy (meaning the first Labyrinth must be beaten). This allows you to clear and kill mob trash as you level through the acts since you have an upkeep of health. Secondly, you'll DEFINITELY need Summon Skeletons + Spell Totem + Minion life socketed for bosses. I swapped to Dark Pact before this and bosses were really, REALLY difficult. However, after I decided to socket these gems bosses became laughably easy, it was actually surprising. It might be worth using two life flasks as well, since at this point Shield Charge should be fast enough that you don't need triple quicksilver (I am aware that movement speed works with Shield Charge though, and you shouldn't be taking much damage with this setup)
Yes, I had originally considered using a Skelly setup and have recommended it to many people that have ask leveling with Dark Pact, I just didn't do it so I was unsure on how successful it may be. Looks like it works well though!

I am trying to do what you adviced. I need to kill High Templar Avarius but I simply cant get him down. My skeletons die before they reach him and when they finally do, he simply teleports away.. Am i doing something wrong?
Could you give me some insight what you used during leveling. I tried to clear with DP but it just did way to much dmg for my life leech to counter the health cost.
+Jai Hel I'm sure you've done it by now, but that boss was fairly annoying. The ones with high mobility will be, but things like the Brine King will be a huge breeze. You just have to be persistent with your spell totem and keep placing it down. From my experience I was able to get damage in on some phases. You can also stand behind the tall soldiers that he sometimes brings alive on some of his phases, giving you extra chances to place down the totem and do damage. Skeletons should always spawn ontop of your target with spell totem, as well. +Galbrain Hmm, once I had Pain Reaver ascendancy I didn't have too many problems in even fairly small sized packs no matter what gear I had. I couldn't leech enough health with DP versus bosses, which gave me the idea to use skeletons, but general clearing with self cast? I didn't seem to have any major issues. To be extra safe I ran two health flasks, but honestly unless I was facetanking large packs with a harbinger I wasn't really using it.

I can do that, I just have to take the time to convert it to the Forum format
I highly recommend Nycta's Lantern when you reach lvl 41, it gives a really nice bonus for the scorching ray + fire storm skills
any other useful ones to help with 38-60? I'm not used to casters always play melee
Nyctas lantern 3 link is even better than Tabula, more raw dps and also fire penetration, thanks

what does magic items mean like gems? or just gear with int required to wear?

Great video, and an additional grats on the links in the text (I hate videos that could have been done better in 10 lines of text) I am really enjoying my new Dark Pact Berserker based on this guide, over my previous Glacial Miner Shadow. The pastebin though, is completely unrealistic with ideal duplicated items (jewel) + the others. I would have more enjoyed the real pastebin, even though non-optimal, as everyone else's is, or ideally both.

Hey bro, what brought me to this game was the crit facebreaker one punch build but now I see in 3.0 its no longer viable? Is there any way you can do a build that goes full unarmed one punch style ( not ancestral warchief). I am only 50 hrs into the game so I do not yet have the experience to craft a viable build. Can you please lend your expertise on how to approach it?

Should be able to handle all maps with decent gear! With great gear it could take Guardians and Shaper!

I switched to full dark pact @ lvl 55 as soon as I could grab Vaal Pact. Its semi iffy, but very good for clearing
7:42 Brightbeak's attack speed bonus is not global, it's local but local attack speed modifiers affect leap slam and shield charge.
Was wondering since you mentioned in your guide here that this build has lots of room for upgrades to do more end game content. I didn't catch in the guide what you recommend for the build if someone wanted to do like say guardians and shaper? If you could give me a few tips here I would appreciate it! Any other advice for leveling? I having alot of trouble with bosses, when only using the scorching ray firestorm setup

Oh, and it works semi-decently from 40'ish up to 60 if you're in a rush to play around with dark pact, been leveling with it myself, you just gotta watch your hp closely.
(i've only ascended once so far, and always carrying a bubbling potion is a lifesaver!)
I would however tell newer players to just follow the build set up for leveling though,
as not doing so can get pretty rough after act 6.
All in all this has become my new favorite build, good work!

There are certainly builds that can still make use of ES, but certainly not builds like this one. You have to play ES with more mechanical dodging and less face tanking.
Brilliant guide and great, fun build. I have a query similar to another comment here though - the odd boss (most recently, Factory), just seems to not leech at all. Is it the type of damage that doesn't proc the savage hit, so the raw damage never does enough to cover the life spend? It seems really hard to mitigate compared to others who are a breeze. End up with a lot of kiting and portalling for flask charges

If anyone wants to use Dark Pact ealier, I'd recommend it from level 41 after taking Pain Reaver, but only with Nycta's Lantern and Tabula Rasa.
You can link Scorching Ray+CWC+Firestorm on Nycta's Lantern (better dmg than with 6link) and Dark Pact on Tabula Rasa, with same support gems as mentioned in the guide. Dark Pact is going to be weak but you can use it to kill all normal/magic mobs much quicker than with Firestorm. This also let's you level all your support gems needed for DP ealier. Getting granite flask is also incredibly helpful because you want to be in the middle of mobs and it grants you about 70% phys red.
I'm leveling like this all the time, firestorm for rare mobs and bosses, DP to quickly kill things

When you describe the build in the beginning you mention Herald of Ice, but in the skill gem portion there is no herald of ice included, however there is 2 arctic armor gems included, is it safe to say that once of them is supposed to be Herald of Ice since its also a green gem? I've started making your build, and the moment I was able to use Dark Pact I went on it. I wanted to know if I could run with it at level 28 because you said you didn't start with it. With an Orb of Storms and a Wither Totem, the build has a very decent amount of damage. It's fairly good at all enemies at a low level like this. Of course because I'm level 28, I don't have life leech, so health is a big problem, but it's still doable. You'd just have to be careful. I just wanted to put this out there! So far I'm loving the build! Can't wait to level some more.

Hi Liking the build I noticed that @6:38 it has the herald of ice image but arctic Armour name.
I recently started playing PoE and have made it to mapping and trying to prepare for uber lab to unlock the last ascendancy ponts. Since I have started mapping I have found 2 divine vessels. I know the pantheon bonuses are situational so could you please make a guide covering them?
I plan to make a Pantheon guide, but was waiting to ensure there wont be any major changes to the system.

Hey just wondering why we need to keep the gems at a certain lvl Arcane surge support 8
blade vortex 10 and bladefall 8. On the poe build pastebin u have bladefall at lvl 20. Could you help me out please?
I forgot to change the levels in the pastebin. They are those levels so they will trigger with the CwDT. The arcane surge is that level so it will trigger on every use of OoS due to the lower mana cost of the skill.

So it procs on every use of Orb of Storms
Leveling with Dark Pact is actually quite effective, since I disliked Scorching Ray + Firestorm. There are two things you'll need though. You'll need the Pain Reaver ascendancy (meaning the first Labyrinth must be beaten). This allows you to clear and kill mob trash as you level through the acts since you have an upkeep of health.
Secondly, you'll DEFINITELY need Summon Skeletons + Spell Totem + Minion life socketed for bosses. I swapped to Dark Pact before this and bosses were really, REALLY difficult. However, after I decided to socket these gems bosses became laughably easy, it was actually surprising. It might be worth using two life flasks as well, since at this point Shield Charge should be fast enough that you don't need triple quicksilver (I am aware that movement speed works with Shield Charge though, and you shouldn't be taking much damage with this setup)
Yes, I had originally considered using a Skelly setup and have recommended it to many people that have ask leveling with Dark Pact, I just didn't do it so I was unsure on how successful it may be. Looks like it works well though!

I am trying to do what you adviced. I need to kill High Templar Avarius but I simply cant get him down. My skeletons die before they reach him and when they finally do, he simply teleports away.. Am i doing something wrong?
Could you give me some insight what you used during leveling. I tried to clear with DP but it just did way to much dmg for my life leech to counter the health cost.
+Jai Hel I'm sure you've done it by now, but that boss was fairly annoying. The ones with high mobility will be, but things like the Brine King will be a huge breeze. You just have to be persistent with your spell totem and keep placing it down. From my experience I was able to get damage in on some phases. You can also stand behind the tall soldiers that he sometimes brings alive on some of his phases, giving you extra chances to place down the totem and do damage. Skeletons should always spawn ontop of your target with spell totem, as well.
+Galbrain Hmm, once I had Pain Reaver ascendancy I didn't have too many problems in even fairly small sized packs no matter what gear I had. I couldn't leech enough health with DP versus bosses, which gave me the idea to use skeletons, but general clearing with self cast? I didn't seem to have any major issues. To be extra safe I ran two health flasks, but honestly unless I was facetanking large packs with a harbinger I wasn't really using it.
