A few people are aware of this, but since Gen got canceled, Nobi has arguably been the most consistent offline Japanese player, ahead of Ao, Chikurin and Rangchu (Korean, but he's part of the Japanese scene, leaderboard and everything). But unfortunately he isn't nearly as active as before, he doesn't even join many Japanese tournaments anymore.

He had a relatively rough 2023 and did something awful enough to have him apologize and promise to never show his face again. His sponsor kicked him and cut ties, Namco's own interviews with him were deleted, and his teammates (Rangchu and Pinya) act like he never existed. Actually, Rangchu would go so far as to congratulate Shadow20z for being "the first Tekken player to join Team Liquid", which isn't true. The first Tekken player to have joined Liquid was none other than Gen.
A few weeks prior to his cancellation... Ulsan got his wallet lost and Rangchu got his money stolen in a tournament where they both outplaced Gen. The theory is that the salty thief was Gen, which explains Rangchu's behavior. But don't quote me on this, it's a theory at the end of the day and know one really knows what happened exactly.

But then again, so did Nin. But if the story about him is true, no respect.
I guess there's a lot of drama in the far easts' Tekken community.

@@XenoGuru Gen had some insane potential and was often considered top 3 worldwide from 2020 until late 2022 despite his young age. Rangchu himself considered him well above his level and closer to Knee and Arslan Ash.
To self-destruct like this is as infuriating as it is tragic lol. Incomprehensible shit.

Nobi can do that move from a completely standing-still position.
It's almost the equivalent of a Mishima wave dash. You move, you get caught.
He's been like that since T6. Nobi put Drag on the map back then
