You need a mind shift. Don't be a session hero and do them too hard. You should always feel like you have another rep in you at the end. It's not the one session that's important. It's the consistency of multiple sessions and if you do each one too hard you wont be rested for the next one and you will plateau or even get weaker. So I guess you need to build on your patience and be focused on consistency instead which will lead to more sustainable gains without injury.
@@MattRuns Yes, you are and I didn't mean to sound like I know better. What ever works for you. I just noticed you being hard on yourself because of one session that didn't go as planned. The body can be a bit of a mystery. Sometimes it performs when you don't feel great other times when you do it lets you down:-). Which is why I don't put much emphasis on single sessions but more on the consistency. I know of 1500 meter runners that do long runs of about 20 km each week, which surprised me, so it is not all about the fast sessions when getting fast. I think the long sessions builds the endurance to maintain the speed.
@Nyelands ah mate, im always down on myself, I'm just speaking it, rather than thinking it, that's all.. if you get what i mean? In my head, i have an idea how i think my paces should be on my session day, and then it doesn't happen, or i get tired quicker sooner than i thought.. or have a bad rep. It definitely haunts me for a while 😆 i don't think that will change though. It's a crazy game. I get what you meant tho, and i appreciate the advice 100% 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Love the commentary.
I’m still injured- 3 months now , going crazy.
I'm in for the Mid Cheshire 5K next May. I might get a t-shirt made with 'Elite Savage' written on it as I chug round in high 19s 😂
😆 only managed to do that once, mate, very fast course, though from what i remember
@MattRuns yes 1st and last km flying downhill. Dawn's fastest 5k there for 11 years.

Yeah, i get what you mean.. it's a very fine line, though, with paces and effort 😆 I'm not doing too bad, though. Improving well for now
