I'm trying to get into it more but I'm from Florida so we don't grow up around hockey, football and baseball is more our speed down here. But I really enjoy watching hockey but I am clueless when it comes to the rules and penalties.
I always remember someone showed some hits to a professional basketball player, I forget who it was, he just shook his head and said. "Them white boys are crazy!"
The best part of hockey are the skills. You should check out Pavel Datsyuk highlights. He is known as the magic man because of his insane stick handling skills. Hitting and brutality is what most people think of hockey but skill and finesse is what it should be known for.
@Joseph McAuley Lindros was the most dominant player of all time and I thoroughly enjoyed watching him since I am a Flyers fan. You are not understanding what I meant. Most fans that don't watch hockey think that it is just violence. I was pointing out that the insane athletic skill is what people that don't watch hockey should think of first, not the fighting and big hits. The game should be respected for that as well as being a tough sport. I love big hits too but when I watch these first time reactions, the impression I get is the only thing they know about the sport is fighting and big hits. IMO hockey requires the most skill of all team sports.
No it should be known for fighting its a warrior sport you have guys who have skill but they still can throw down its the roots of the games and should always be known for that
Ovechkin is the real magic man. Watch all his goals + skating finesse. The size the guys are today as compared to 2 decades ago. 6.3 to 6.6 w/o their blades. You can pretty well tell by their salaries how valuable they are to each team.
The NHL Playoffs are unlike ANY other Sporting Event on Earth. It is simply amazing. As far as Fan experience goes, the NHL Playoffs are just... Perfect.
“I know that team. The Devils.” My heart almost melted. We don’t have many fans in the United States and the fact that you know who they are makes me happy.
slovak4life1991 I’m a die-hard Red Wings fan but one of the coolest things was when Miroslav Satan (pronounced Shahtahn) played for the Devils. That’s got to be one of the coolest jerseys ever. Devil horns on the front and Satan on the back!
slovak4life1991 My bad, my memory was of him in the Devils jersey but now I remember that I was thinking of his years in Buffalo because their jerseys were similar at that time to the Devils. I also now remember that my friend who’s a Pens fan was happy that he signed with the Pens but also wished he would end up on the Devils because of his last name. I’m 46 so some of those memories of watching hockey in the 80s and 90s are fuzzy. Slovaks are great hockey players. I play with a Slovak (Petr) on my men’s league hockey team here in Texas. He can dangle better than I.
5:40 If they can't get off the ice the whistle blows, they pause the game long enough for either the medical staff or teammates to help them off. Very rarely a stretcher is needed. The game starts back up after the injured player is off the ice.
I grew up playing hockey, so I love seeing people who don't know the sport reacting. Definitely look up some "best goals" or "best fights". There's a video called "the beauty of hockey" thats worth a watch to appreciate how multifaceted the game can be. Subbed for future hockey videos!
@Michael OConnor maybe .but there are just some ppl who do things others dont even attempt like when pavs danced thru a guy, puck literally thru his feet only to pass the puck to a second defender so he could steal it rite back and immediately saucer it to brett for one timer .im just saying like no one does or even really considers doing that stuff. i was lucky enough to enjoy watching most of his games
cauchamar No, no that didn’t help. What are the connotations ‘brit’ holds? What criteria do they not meet? What honesty? Your talkin’ out of your ass there m8.
@cauchamar - You actually went to multiple comment threads just to spread you're bitter racism around? Somebody that pathetic probably shouldn't go around labeling entire cultures. you probably shouldn't wash your hands either because you might accidentally drown yourself...dumbfuck.
Watch some top hockey fights videos.... there are man reasons for fights, long time beef, if your top player or goalie is hit hard you fight that person... a fight can be started by one team if they are lagging a bit and need a pick me up to get the crowd and team more enrergized. Fighting isn't legal, you get a penalty, however unlike most other team sports you arent ejected from the game. It means the players self police the game... if you're a pest, and antagonize a you can expect a beat down.
If you want to look up NHL jukes, just look up Pavel Datsyuk. There's a reason he's called The Magic Man. That's all in gonna say. Also, that hit where you guys said the guy in black didn't even have it is one of the most egregious examples of a late hit in NHL history.
As someone who grew up playing hockey, it's always fun to watch these videos. To address your questions, there is the "Code" in hockey, a set of unwritten rules that if you break you are expected to fight. If you fight you are assessed a 5 minute penalty where you have to sit in the penalty box for 5 minutes of game time. Generally fights happen for one of two reasons. 1. People are angry with each other. Some one has broken the code, for instance going after the star players too much or just generally being annoying, and 2. To change game momentum. For example, your team is down 2-1 and you want to pump your boys up. The Code is a BIG thing in hockey. There's just some things that the players decide you can't do, even if it's not illegal in the rule book. For instance, icing the goalie. When goalie puts his glove over the puck the referee blows the whistle, but if an opposing player stops right in front of the goalie, and snow from the stopping skates gets up in his face, that's a big no no. You will have to fight or guys will go after you all game. The other big thing is enforcers. Basically, enforcers are guys who are paid to intimidate the other team. They are used to protect star players. The idea being if your team has the biggest scariest guy, the other team won't bother your star players for fear of having to fight the big scary guy. Hockey is great that way. If a guy injures another guy with a dirty hit, they'll have to fight someone. Keeps the game accountable to the players rather than the league, and people from running around trying to hurt guys.
Fighting is usually done if it's a Rookie being hit by an experienced player, The star player being hit or a pre arranged thing between a few players who have a history with eachother (or any hit one of the teams feels was too dirty) Usually the fights allowed to go on but if nothing is really happening and they're just grappling eachother the refs will break it up. Worth reacting to best fights Also NHL Dekes (or jukes to reference NFL) has some great videos.
I know you guys probably won’t see this but when you fight in hockey it’s normally because someone hit one of your good players and you want to get back at them or if they are chirping all game sometimes they will just drop em and fight
Hockey players are warriors. It's a brutal game. To address some of your questions... The glass along the rink's perimeter is actually plexiglass, a sort of plastic composite. Fans assume liability for injury from shattered glass and anything that may leave the playing surface (pucks, equipment, bodies, etc). An NHL regular season is 82 games. The playoff tournament is a bracketed, seeded event and can draw out for a maximum of an additional 26 games for teams that make the finals. Fighting is technically illegal. It is, however, a part of the sport's culture. Certain players are designated as enforcers. It is their job to ensure their team's top performers/scorers not receive undue rough treatment. Think of assigning a hard man, not as technically skilled as most players, to watch over Messi or Ronaldo. There is an unwritten code to fighting in hockey, and the "rules" vary from very simple to highly complex. Hockey enforcers are sometimes called "goons". They don't often score, but are important for their protection of star players as well as team morale.
I'm Canadian and played AAA Midget in the 70's. We lived for hitting opponents hard! The harder the better and we were savage if we had to be. Numerous fights and yes, once we were in a bench clearing brawl and even a few parents were on the ice!!!! lmao! Awww.....the good old days :)
There are a couple reasons why they fight. 1. Bring energy to the team if they’re not playing good. 2. To stand up for teammates/themselves because of a hit(dirty) that may have caused an injury especially to a star player. 3. Because they got beef that needs to be resolve.
jaykat22 yeah there’s nothing funny about Paul Kariya’s career ending injury. These guys laugh at people getting knocked out/concussed in the NHL but if a soccer player pretends to roll his ankle they’d probably cry like babies
Flevstangysauce I think the difference is that since hockey players wear so much gear it kinda looks like they're in armor, so most people seem to unconsciously think that they are safe.
lAmCanad1an So many times when I was younger my shin guards slid down from my knees and I smashed them off the ice, and that shit hurts so damn bad. My first concussion came from being checked and having the back of my head smash straight on the ice. Don't underestimate how much of a difference there is between the ice and a grass field.
Everyone needs to chill... it’s the way they transitioned the laughed, it is quite comical if you don’t know the whole backstory, yes it ended his career but they don’t know a lick about the sport and they just laughed at a guy being payed out on the ground, take a chill pill boys
Fighting is a way to hype up your team and to try to get them to be more active. It is also used to protect players from big hits or little guys and rookies. Fighting is also a way for player to release their frustration
Usually fights happen defending a teammate. There are guys on the team that police the game and make sure no one takes a cheap or dirty shot at one of your star players. Fights can also happen to spark your team if you are down a couple of goals at home and want to get your crowd and team going, it creates a change in momentum. I love seeing new hockey fans. Its such a great sport.
Wus good my ppl!! 😁 Hope your all doing good! 👊🏼 This one was highly recommended to react too so I had to get it done for you guys. Keep suggesting more American Sports videos to react too down below & hit me up on my socials too! Peace & love to everyone watching 🖖🏼❤️
Itsyourboytee great video. Love seeing other countries reactions to our sports leagues as I think we have some of the best in the world and for that, check out greatest US sports moments (2010-2016)
fighting usually lasts until someone falls to the ice. they'll also break it up if the guys are in a stalemate and not actively attacking each other for an extended period of time. fights usually break out when a cheap shot is taken, when someone picks on the rookie, or if anyone interferes with the goalie (i.e. spraying ice in his face, running into him, standing too close, etc.)
One thing you have to understand the properties of ice help people to survive big hits where if you’re playing on a picture a field you make it more injured there are not a lot of knee injuries in hockey but there’s a tremendous amount of body checking the ice actually helps the person from getting serious knee injuries just by cutting down on friction
I stopped watching when they started to laugh at that.. But then again they are soccer fans so player laying on the ground is normal to them, what they don't understand is that when it happens in hockey it means that somebodys really hurt themselves badly
@@akselilassila985 I think maybe u misunderstood why they laughed, It was more about how dramatic the edit and transitions were not that someone was knocked out but yea I get how you can take it differently thats how I took it.
React to Pavel Datsyuk if you want to see some sick skill on the ice. Also the Detroit Red Wings Vs Colorado Avalanche brawl in 1997 is amazing it was the biggest rivalry in the 90's.
Grew up with a pond in the backyard. We played from 8am to 9pm. With breaks to eat a sandwich and a bowl of soup. No better way to spend the winter time in Minnesnowta!
Basically a player can fight whenever they want, most of the time it’s when a player gets pissed off at another player for tryna get into his head, or a hit that injured a teammate, or tryna mess with the goalie. Goalies have fought too, I’d recommend watching that cuz it can be entertaining
@@Nuwings1111 in my personal opinion, you're american, a black american. If you're an african immigrant or can directly link that you're descendant of africans then you're african american but that's just my opinion on it.
Hockey players usually fight to enforce an unwritten code, crossing the line verbally or physically, but players also fight to help team morale. It’s a 5 min penalty (team doesn’t go short handed) ( regular infractions like interference or slashing is a 2min penalty with the other team going on a power play (4 players vs 5 players)
In hockey although fighting is technically not allowed as part of the rules as in the referee will penalize you for it, its a traditional part of the game. Each team has an unofficial number of "enforcer" type players who's job is to body check/fight in addition to the normal position that they play. Usually and normally, only the enforcers fight each other and goalies fight each other only. The way it usually happens is that during a stop in action or whenever, the two players will exchange words and then usually they agree to fight i.e. "Wanna go? wanna go?" and then they drop their gloves and proceed to fight until the referee breaks them up (usually when they clinch or when the players fall). Both of these players will now get a penalty of 5 minutes (so for the next 5 minutes the game is a 4v4 instead of a 5v5). Teams usually fight because its a momentum, confidence, psychological thing. If your team won the fight, it can fire up the rest of the players, the crowd etc and temporarily remove the other team's enforcer and also potentially cause an injury to the enforcer.
fighting is something that happens when either you feel a guy has taken a cheap shot at yourself or one of your teammates. Its mostly someone standing up for themselves (when a ref has missed a penalty call etc..) or something along those lines. Fighting is a lot less common in today's hockey vs 15 years ago but still has its place
fights usually break out when a team targets one of the star players or if they are intentionally trying to take someone out. Most teams have a big guy they call an enforcer who will dish out some serious pain to anyone trying to hurt the star players. There has been at least one or two fans who have sustained serious injuries from not the glass breaking but by a puck hitting them. I think even one lady was killed by a puck. There have been hits so brutal that there was a poll of blood on the ice as well...So, I have mad respect for those guys putting it all on the line each game.
The fighting in hockey is purely about if you deserve it. If it’s a dirty hit then you’ll have to answer the bell and fight somebody because the thing about hockey is to always no matter the situation to back yourself or your teammates up and it’s the unwritten rule to have a fight or brawl regardless of if it’s a clean or dirty hit, or if there is targeting or if the 2 players have been beefing all game then they settle it in a fight. Fights also happen after you slash or even touch the opposing teams goalie. The goalie is off limits
I’m a bit late but another huge reason people will fight is just to try and change the momentum of the game. If your team isn’t doing so hot and needs a spark you go out and drop the gloves. Most players don’t get upset or take hits or fights personally. Off the ice people are for the most part really sportsmanlike, it’s just on the ice where they beat the crap out of each other. Oh and to answer a question from another video of yours, if someone is seriously injured they actually do bring a stretcher onto the ice. There are always paramedics on hand at games. I love your channel and just subbed because you guys seem cool. Keep it up!!
Usually fights are retribution for dirty hits. Or just two players don’t like eachother. Sometimes a team thats losing, the guy will go out and fight to get his team pumped up to start scoring
Big shout out from Vancouver 🇨🇦, Just discovered your channel, glad you enjoy Canada’s national sport, when you think about it, Canadians are known for being very polite rather odd that they have such a violent sport. Hockey is an incredible game the skills that is pretty much unparalleled when you Think of how fast and agile you have to be, the eye hand coordination, keeping your head up in order not to get hurt, it’s truly an amazing sport. I think the NHL heads are equal to if not harder than any heat in the NFL, the average thickness of the ice is 10 mm, after that it is concrete and refrigeration houses, incredibly hard surface they also where are far less potting then the NFL. And just like the NFL you have players Vary in height and weight, but there are a lot of players that are 6263 there are well over 200lbs up and over 230 lbs. The level of conditioning and skill set required to play professional hockey is quite impressive, thank you for discovering Canada’s national sport keep up the awesome videos discover more about this wonderful sport!
There's a documentary on Netflix called Ice Guardians, shows the inside of fighting in hockey from the players points of view. It's really good actually and gives you a lot of insight on that part of hockey.
In hockey you can fight you just get 5 minutes in the penalty box and they fight to stand up for teammates and your self and get your team fired up and if you can’t stand the guy instead of doing a cheap shot and trying to hurt the player they both agree to drop gloves and fight and then they say good fight and forget about it it’s called the Code never hit a player when they down or injured or when they don’t agree to fight
In the game of hockey fighting is called dropping the gloves and there are no rules as to where, when or why you're fighting. You drop the gloves to show you want to fight the other person and they fight until either one person is brought down on the ice or the refs think the fight is too bad. There is a 5 minute penalty for fighting. It is generally up to the enforcers to carry out the fights.
The reason hockey players fight is complex. There are players on teams called "enforcers", that their sole job is to fight. They fight if someone hits their star player, or if they actually have a beef with another player. A good fight can change the momentum of a game.
To show you how tough hockey players are, the guy you were laughing at at around 5:30 left the ice for obvious reasons, came back and scored less than 5 minutes later and had 3 points that night. He was the MVP of the game. Oh and he was only 5 feet 10 inches tall and 180lbs(small for a hockey player).... and Canadian.
In the NHL you can fight as much as you want as long as you have reason. The refs will stop the fights after a while but they allow the fights for a while
Fighting isn't as permitted as it used to be at one time. But you will still see fights at times. They will sometimes let a short fight proceed if both players have taken off their gloves (signifying a willingness to fight) but will stop it moreso if one player has not taken off his gloves since he's not showing himself willing. If you really want to see what it was like when fighting was more common, you'd have to look back at old games (say 70s and back.)
Fighting players receive penalty minutes for fighting...but it is accepted kinda like a way to pump the teams up, or to retaliate for hard/illegal hits on teammates that aren't penalized by refs
And man what if I told you that big hit you were laughing at at 5:27, that was a playoff game and he only went out a period. Came back to score the game winner. Crazy
Ya fam you fight to protect yourself or a teammate. There's inforcers who run it you know. I'm excited to see your reaction to the NHL fights man keep the video comin
Fighting in hockey can range from just an absolute hatred for the other player, some kind of long term rivalry between players, to something as light hearted as two players lining up at a face off and one guy going “hey patty how’s the kids man?” “Great man, you want to go?” “Sure” “ok man good luck” “you too” and then dropping the gloves and fighting, not because of any hate for the other guy or maybe not even in a response to something that happened earlier in the game, but as a way to generate team morale and momentum as well as getting the fans back into the game if need be to give that morale and momentum to their team. But it USUALLY breaks out after a whistle when one player hits another in a dangerous manner and his teammates start pushing and shoving the guy until they both start fighting each other in response.
An NHL game cannot start without an ambulance on scene for players or fans if needed. Each team has a Doctor , and many medical staff on the bench or in the back. They are treated to instantly and if needed the perimedics come with stretchers/backboards/neck brace aswell etc. Only 1 fan has ever died at an NHL game but it was decades ago. Usually fans just get hit with a puck, and may need stitches while the games going on, or just bruised up from pucks. Fans in the front rows when a piece of glass breaks are instantly checked out to make sure nothing is wrong with them, glass has a plastic material in them aswell. And the glass is bendy, the way the rink is set up so big hits / shots won't break the glass instantly
I saw some one say already I just wanted to feel cool and say it again. In the game of hockey there is something called “The Code.” How you break the code is when you absolutely obliterate someone, try and headhunt certain people, or take a cheap shot at one of the more skilled players. There are usually certain players on a team that are called enforcers and their job is to initiate the code when something happens. And if someone breaks the code and doesn’t take the challenge (fight) the rest of his years playing against that exact team, is going to be hell until he owns up to the code. This happens in all levels of hockey that fighting is legal. Ages 18 and up, might differ in areas.
Fights happen for a number of reasons when the refs fail to call a good game and things escalate When a young player wants to break into the league and get noticed When a brutal hit happens or dirty hit happens and the player has to answer for it. Hockey is awesome!
The fine print on the tickets does specify that the arena is not responsible for any injuries you may obtain while at the game. They also remind people to "watch out for flying pucks" at the start and middle of the game since people have been hit by them when they fly into the stands. They put up nets now since a child had died due to being struck in the head with a puck. People still get hit though.
To add to the intensity of these hits. A hockey player is an average height of 6'2" (ranging from 5'9" to 6'5") and roughly about 200 to 250 lbs. Imagine that coming at you at a top speed of 50 mph with no breaks. The men playing this sport are beasts, they don't screw around.
Fighting is not allowed in the NHL but it happens quite frequently nonetheless. It's a penalty (you get sent off the ice for a few minutes) putting your team at a disadvantage. Usually both players get sent off so it's not much of a disincentive. Instead off 5 players vs 5 players it ends up being 4 players vs 4 players.
you can fight whenever you want but it’s a big penalty for both of the fighters and usually they throw hands when one of their better players gets killed
Fighting is technically illegal but there are guidelines. Players often talk before they fight because if only one player takes his gloves off he'll get in lots of trouble. But if both players commit its only a short pentaly.
You get a 5 minute penalty for fighting but they fight to defend their teammates usually after a big hit like these or especially if an attacking player gets too close to the goalie. Occasionally you get two players who just want to fight and they go after the faceoff.
Fights are caused by mainly protecting ur teammates and better players as a message saying hey, don’t hit my teammates like that or when two guys get so pissed off
With the fighting. Basically you have guys on your team that stick up for your skilled players. But generally if there is a dirty play, or if a skill player gets hit hard, his teamate will come stick up for him and fight. Fighting is allowed, you dont get suspended but you get a 5 minute penalty for fighting. If a 3rd man comes into the fight and 2v1s another player that 3rd player will get fined and suspended
So really to break down the rules of instigating a fight to it's VERY VERY basics. If you do anything to piss off the other team, you'll most likely get into a fight, but sometimes players just fight for the hell of it.
Being a hockey player this is what makes the game great and incredibly hard to play, fighting is part of the game standing up for each other or to give your team momentum, its a mans game, you think its bad on tv trying playing the game, theres a reason why they only take 45 second shifts then go back to the bench for a short break, its all about speed, skill and toughness
The guy flat on the ice when you laughed is called Paul Kariya. He was the top scorer with Teemu Selänne in the Anaheim Mighty Ducks at the time. That tackle actually ended his career. Don't remember if he played any games after that, but it was soon over. And he hasn't been near the hockey circles afterwards. Selänne was his good friend, because they were a 'Dynamic Duo', meaning scoring points together. Hockey has those 5 skaters on the ice, 2 D and 3 forwards, so there often forms a duo that's like really wired together, or you could say in IT language they share the same memory in the cloud data bank. It's like they know without looking where the other guy is. Much more rare is to find 3 guys linked like that - but people here might remember some of those trios. So, because of this friendship, Selänne was the guy who managed to drag Kariya to some hockey Gala - maybe his own, where he managed to get some spotlight on Kariya too. Sporting move on his side. Lifted Kariya back to spotlight, because he has such a career I also wish he wouldn't be forgotten. The funny thing is he looks like he could be the brother of Keanu Reeves :) We Finns know about these things, because Selänne is like THE hockey icon for us. He has a few NHL records, most importantly most goals for a rookie. Which likely won't be beaten, just like Gretzky's many records, because the goalies and D are just so much better these days. The goalie coaching really stepped up the game from 90's forward, I think partly because some ex-goalie legends became coaches themselves. This happened in Finland at least, and Finnish goalies have been hired to NHL since 90's in a great percentage for such a small country (5M people). Registered players is a relatively high number, because ice hockey is the number one sport in popularity in Finland, like football in UK. Well, hard to say that near a religion, but pretty close :)
@@AnArchyRulzz OK - something like I remembered. There wasn't such an internet coverage yet, but I had the impression he played some after this. And this tackle did in fact end his career because of the ongoing effects.
There are five guys on the ring, one of the good ones takes a hard hit. THey sub in a single guy called an Enforcer. He will, before he sits back down, ensure whoever gave out the hard hit gets an even harder hit, or has a fist in his face.
Fighting is allowed with a consequence. Fights are started after hard hits or dirty plays. The refs wont interfere in a fight until one goes down, they then will be punished with a few minutes in the box or possibly suspention depending on the brutality.
There was a game where a goalie had his throat slit. His coach saved his life by jamming his fingers in his neck and holding the artery until paramedics arrived.
Fighting is usually a tool for momentum, but it can also be for intimidation or retaliation. The idea being....it’s hard to play hockey when ur scared.
We fight to protect our players that are our goal scorers, to inflict fear into the other team also to pump are team up. There are 100 reasons we fight
You need to watch top 10 worst injuries part 1 & 2. Most of these players left the ice or the stadium via ambulance after receiving immediate treatment from doctors on site. Some of the injuries are truly scary including cut aortas, fractured jaws, neck injuries just to name a few.
Hockey is hands down the most underrated sport .

They all got their heads down, that's why they say keep Ur head up on hockey
You can tell some guys get railroaded. Forsberg when he got hit by Konstantinov and Steven’s hit on Lindros. But yea keep your head up kid.

When at a hockey and you find yourself covered in shattered glass the only thing left to do is cheer like a madman
You guys don’t appreciate the fact that those guys got steamrolled 😩🤦🏻♂️
Madness you say???
*NO!*
*This is ICE HOCKEY!!!*
Fighting is usually done if it's a Rookie being hit by an experienced player, The star player being hit or a pre arranged thing between a few players who have a history with eachother (or any hit one of the teams feels was too dirty)
Usually the fights allowed to go on but if nothing is really happening and they're just grappling eachother the refs will break it up. Worth reacting to best fights
Also NHL Dekes (or jukes to reference NFL) has some great videos.
I know you guys probably won’t see this but when you fight in hockey it’s normally because someone hit one of your good players and you want to get back at them or if they are chirping all game sometimes they will just drop em and fight
Brittney Foster I read all my comments man! Haha but yeah that makes sense tbh & good know. Appreciate the support 👊🏼😁
Thanks for copy n paste bitch

kcmxprogamer One of my favorites is Leblond vs Janssen. Longest fight in NHL history I think
There are a couple reasons why they fight.
1. Bring energy to the team if they’re not playing good.
2. To stand up for teammates/themselves because of a hit(dirty) that may have caused an injury especially to a star player.
3. Because they got beef that needs to be resolve.
5:30 it’s not funny, it was his career ending injury...

Fighting is a way to hype up your team and to try to get them to be more active. It is also used to protect players from big hits or little guys and rookies. Fighting is also a way for player to release their frustration

Usually fights happen defending a teammate. There are guys on the team that police the game and make sure no one takes a cheap or dirty shot at one of your star players. fighting usually lasts until someone falls to the ice. they'll also break it up if the guys are in a stalemate and not actively attacking each other for an extended period of time. fights usually break out when a cheap shot is taken, when someone picks on the rookie, or if anyone interferes with the goalie (i.e. spraying ice in his face, running into him, standing too close, etc.)
that guy in black needs to stop showing off his arms
Lol how is he showing off by simply sitting with his arms crossed?

One thing you have to understand the properties of ice help people to survive big hits where if you’re playing on a picture a field you make it more injured there are not a lot of knee injuries in hockey but there’s a tremendous amount of body checking the ice actually helps the person from getting serious knee injuries just by cutting down on friction

Basically a player can fight whenever they want, most of the time it’s when a player gets pissed off at another player for tryna get into his head, or a hit that injured a teammate, or tryna mess with the goalie. Goalies have fought too, I’d recommend watching that cuz it can be entertaining

They are not even remotely brittish.

You guys laughing at the word puck had me weak 😂
ola ffuB 😂😂🤦🏻♂️
Much love from New York
In the game of hockey fighting is called dropping the gloves and there are no rules as to where, when or why you're fighting. You drop the gloves to show you want to fight the other person and they fight until either one person is brought down on the ice or the refs think the fight is too bad. There is a 5 minute penalty for fighting. It is generally up to the enforcers to carry out the fights.
The reason hockey players fight is complex. There are players on teams called "enforcers", that their sole job is to fight. They fight if someone hits their star player, or if they actually have a beef with another player.
A good fight can change the momentum of a game.
Yes, players are allowed to beef, no sucker punches, no hitting a man that's down, they can scrap until someone hits the ice.
The refs will stop the fights after a while but they allow the fights for a while
The reason they fight is basically just standing up for your teammates or yourself
Fights happen for a number of reasons
when the refs fail to call a good game and things escalate
When a young player wants to break into the league and get noticed
When a brutal hit happens or dirty hit happens and the player has to answer for it.
You fight to protect your star player. You guys are fucking great fam. Keep doing videos.
The funny thing is he looks like he could be the brother of Keanu Reeves :)
We Finns know about these things, because Selänne is like THE hockey icon for us.
He played for a while after that, but he had ongoing concussion issues for rest of his career and eventually had to retire due to concussions.
@@AnArchyRulzz OK - something like I remembered. There wasn't such an internet coverage yet, but I had the impression he played some after this. And this tackle did in fact end his career because of the ongoing effects.
You fight when someone pisses you off and its a great way to engize your team
There are five guys on the ring, one of the good ones takes a hard hit. THey sub in a single guy called an Enforcer. He will, before he sits back down, ensure whoever gave out the hard hit gets an even harder hit, or has a fist in his face.
Fighting is allowed with a consequence. Fights are started after hard hits or dirty plays. The refs wont interfere in a fight until one goes down, they then will be punished with a few minutes in the box or possibly suspention depending on the brutality.
i’ve played hockey for a while and the only reason to fight is just when someone pisses you off a lot. maybe that’s just me but that’s why i do it
There was a game where a goalie had his throat slit. His coach saved his life by jamming his fingers in his neck and holding the artery until paramedics arrived.
Fighting is usually a tool for momentum, but it can also be for intimidation or retaliation.
