Speaking ahead of a Champions League clash between Borussia Dortmund & Arsenal, Jurgen Klopp compared his playing style to Arsene Wenger's.

You know it’s retro when Klopp’s in a suit.
He mainly wore tracksuits in his Dortmund times too but this was for the Champions League and managers had to wear a suit. I'm not sure if that rule still exists
@@lukasbeck4421 I didn’t know it was a rule. Interesting though. It mustn’t be any more because Klopp didn’t wear one for either of the last 2 CL finals with Liverpool.
@@lukasbeck4421 It's not a rule, never was. However, clubs sometimes will dictate what a manager will wear. For example Roman ordered Sarri to wear suits, asking him to bring a more 'British' attitude to the game. Sarri initially respected this and was frequently spotted wearing suits although somewhere during the season he went back to wearing sports trousers and shirts in the dugout.

Man.. His Gegenpressing football in 2012-13 season is some of the most breathtaking & high intense football in European Football history. Maybe that team didn’t win much, but that football was something else. But you need animals to play those kind of football. Klopp played that kind of football last in 2017-18 season in Liverpool's Champions League final journey.. After that, his tactics evolved & he relies in fullbacks more now & presses wayy less.. This has stabilised Liverpool's defence but I miss that great heavy metal football🙂

The 'heavy-metal' full-on gegenpressing was clearly a Buvac-led philosophy. After Buvac left, Klopp went to a more 'comprehensive, all-round' system. I think that's why Buvac left - different philosophies. I think Klopp figured that the gegenpress chaos doesn't work in games against low-blocks so he devised a more possession-based system. I don't think Buvac agreed and left.
Allow me to correct you, everyone can be an animal, but to be in Klopp's team, you need to be a clever, disciplined and selfless animal.
Liverpool still are the kings of pressing, stats show that the Liverpool team still press way higher and more than any other team in the league, just choosing when to press now

@@SASMADBRUV7 lies. I'm a United fan and hes my fav coach/manager. liverpool are lucky to have him, even thought this before their success with him. top top manager and just seems like a brilliant guy to be around, loves his players and is very serious when needs to be. great balance.

I think we are going to play more defensively. We don't have any quick CBs now which means we can't play with a high line which means we can't press as much as we used to do. And also that kind of high pressing is not sustainable over a season with so many games and so little recovery time.
This was right around the time when he switched from Bond villain to football manager. Definitely my fav manager for sure. He is truly inspirational.
His tactics have evolved from the heavy stuff to a more controlled way of playing but one thing that hasn't changed is the intensity.
