I sang this with my choir, and - not especially in this work, but always - we also had advices how to speak the words and sometimes we had to murmur or whisper words, sometimes we had to exclude rough consonants if this didn´t fit to the attention of this part etc so I can imagine this had a sense.
Just love Britten's Lacrimosa from the War Requiem. I thought maybe Mozart's was unbeatable, but I think Benjamin Britten has also wriiten a great one too. Am sad that such a piece has so few viewings, compared to the contempoary rubbish which millions of people listen to under the guise of popular music. It's like food, if you like caviar and truffles then Britten is for you, if you like Hamburgers and chips every day then the stuff most people listen to nowadays that they think is music is for you.
ok boomer, salty much? the fact you don't like most modern music does not make it not music not does that make it 'rubbish', yes this is a beautiful piece but that doesn't say shit about other pieces. (also there's nothing wrong with a bit of fast food every once in a while, spend your money on some good causes instead of ridiculously expensive foods instead it might just make you happier)
@@mementomori4817 Yo dweeb ! This IS modern music, you fool! Everyone knows exactly what Keith Terrett meant when he wrote thus: most of what the masses think is contemporary modern music, ie pop and pap - is complete and utter crap: the musical equivalent of turkey twizzlers laced with monosodium glutamate with e-numbers added.
A wonderful concert - I was very fortunate to be in the choir for this performance, back in 1993.
Tremendous soprano. Her tone sounded like "lacrymosa." Huge and haunting. Brava.
Спасибо доброму человеку Iforgeti за то, что выложил ролик с нашей любимой и дорогой Маквалой Касрашвили!

AND THAT COUGHING? CMON PPL
I played the piece with the young german symphony orchestra and this part would sound so beautiful if she doesn't become slower snd slower!
Man, I almost typed so many rude things! She has awful diction, let's just leave it at that. That tenor makes my life, though.
very good point, she doesnt even sound like she is speaking words
