- To commemorate the centenary of the Russian Revolution, Alan Woods, editor of In Defence of Marxism, provides a timeline analysis of 1917.
To begin this series, Alan examines the events of the February Revolution, when the masses entered onto the scene of history to overthrow the hated Tsarist monarchy.
In the space of days, a seemingly omnipotent regime was swept aside, and the workers and peasants of Russia began to form their own democratic organs in the shape of the soviets.
4:51 italian socialists also were against the war

Does this guy ever cite anything?
Great video, but I suggest reducing the length of the videos and making them more often. I think it would arouse more interest, and help grow the communist movement, even in such a small way.
I did manage to listen to 1 minute, but was the Feb Revolution a surprise for Lenin in exile in Zurich?
Well, the speaker is merely quoting from a speech by lenin. You can read it here: www.bolshevik.info/lecture-on-the-1905-revolution.htm
this is about 1905 not the February 1917 revolution, Alan Woods has always been confused by this
I suspect that the 1905 revolution took Lenin by surprise also. Sometimes the masses have a way of surprising the leaders by taking the lead themselves.
@@StevieRevbo it is a speech by Lenin delivered on January 22 1917 talking about the revolution of 1905. At the end Lenin says "We of the older generation may not live to see the decisive battles of this coming revolution". His speech was made not too long before the october revolution. Therefore Alan wood says that Lenin did not anticipate the october revolution and it was a surprise for him.
This is happening in America now.
Max Von Sydow, with your eyes closed
Super and love the Russian revolution 👌👌
Almost impossible to understand words
Like a good troskyite...if not for trosky Lenin would never take power. Bullshit! But for me, u opened a very important part and specific historical point that clarifies that moment of who held what position for revolutionary workers to take n hold power.
Further, it was trosky who jumped back and forth between mensheviks n bolshevik positions. N all people's u say supported two stage resolution didso w proletariat at lead. Ur twisting the facts on its head.
bolshaviks position...and it wasvtrosky
