If you are in a super low budget situation, put the litter box inside a cardboard box that is low enough on the sides for your cat to jump in and out, but high enough to contain about 90% of the flinging. My cat seems to think that flicking cat litter is an Olympic sport. I'm definitely going to look into trying pine or corn pellets with her, and see if she'll accept them.
this actually does help A LOT but my cat being orange hair ( freaking hair everywhere) he always seems to pretty much get litter stuck anywhere and everywhere.. i feel only one solution is left and that is to shave him....i will too i'll shave him buck naked before i let myself get rid of him

I recently purchased a Miele Stick vacuum. Brilliant. This makes keeping my kitties room clean from dust and litter tracking. I find myself using this vacuum vs the big canister vacuum for quick cleanups. It seems that the more "advanced" so called litter boxes get the smaller they get, just look at the "automatic" litter boxes. A kitten is probably the only cat that fits in these small boxes.
i actually woke up and cried today because of how much litter was around my room....my buddy zeke and I have to pretty much share a bedroom..so cat hair and litter are a huge problem for me and thats without my ocd making it worse...i went to bed with a clean room and woke up to a disaster...this is becoming hard for me
So sorry you're going through this :( It can feel overwhelming but we hope you can try to implement a few small changes at a time and hopefully find a solution that works for you! Were there any tips from the video you're going to try out?
Awh...I do understand. OCD here too. It is more to clean with fur babies. As she replied to you, implement small changes. Really create a litter station and also a feeding station (away from the litterbox) that is practical for them but easiest for you. A commenter on this video suggested placing the litterbox into a a large cardboard box so that the cardboard contains the mess--Genius! Please consider giving this a try. Keep a small hand broom and dustpan in the station or hand vac. My girls (all my cats are girls, three of them) know to skidattle when the vacuum comes out. I only use it maybe weekly.

For Backup and just in case though, i bought one of those handheld vacuums for like 30$ and it has been my best invested money big time.
I use a concrete mixing bin in an unused shower plus a litter mat, plus a Roomba in that room. Works okay but still dusty-what is most dust free clumping litter?
I agree with everything you have said in this video and have come to the same conclusion: Better to have litter tracked around the box Vs all over the house and on furniture (clay litter--urgh!). I do think that my girls have become so messy--even with pellets! They ambush eachother coming out of the litterbox. I need a video explaining this behavior 😮. Therefore, they leap out with pellets flying. I have witnessed them in action 😮. I wish they wouldn't! Each of their litterboxes are high sided. However, not has high as the one advertised here. I was on my way to purchasing until I saw the price tag 😮. Though they explained the reason for the costs! There are self-cleaning litterboxes on the market for that price. Might I suggest Purina Tidy Cats Breeze litter system. Still not cheap. More expensive than some. The XL has very large sides. Greatest upkeep and expense are the urine pads. You could substitute with other brands. Requires experimenting with various urine pads.

I’m so desperate to solve this issue. I got my first ever cat last year. Not a cat person, but she was a stray kitten in the road, and I didn’t want her to get smooshed. Her feline herpes ixnayed one adoption and the shelters couldn’t take her in due to overcrowding, so here we are. She is an aggressive digger, and I’ve tried everything from switching litters to getting a box with a clear dome and just the opening along with a litter catching mat, but it just gets everywhere. I scoop and sweep every day but still end up stepping on litter throughout the house. I love this cat now, but I’m just so tired. She’s ruined two leather chairs along with the weatherstripping on my door despite scratching posts and cat towers, there’s hair everywhere despite regular brushing and she constantly knocks stuff off my counters and desks… I’m not one of those people that got an animal in an uninformed manner and am complaining after the fact. From observation; vets aren't as compassionate with cats as they are dogs. Sad but true. I had 11 cats all were fixed and had shots. Anytime one had to go to vet they were a nervous wreck .. I watched as all dogs were petted and given a treat. For 18 years my cats were never petted or offered a treat at vets office.
We tried the recycled newspaper litter. Sounds great, right? it was horrible!!! Any of you know what wet newspaper smells like? Now combine that smell with wet newspaper covered in cat pee! absolutely horrible. Smelled so bad we threw it on second day,
Cats prefer open litter box with no sides. If box is near a wall they do elevator butt and pee on wall. My male cat is picky andbhas to have box away from wall. I dont like the top entry. Takes up room and tou have to clean rhe sides often.
We agree that cats prefer an open litter box over an enclosed one! If cats tend to have high aim (regardless of where you place the litter box) then high walls might be necessary 😹
Anyone have any tips or cat litter for my 18 year old cat? She pees a LOT and the litter keeps getting stuck in her paws. She's gotten sick twice in the last year and had to be given antibiotics. I'm concerned it's because she's licking the litter off her self. Does anyone have success with any type of litter?
For older cats it's best to choose a dust-free, low-tracking litter that clumps and is easy to scoop. To avoid the litter getting stuck in your cat's paws, opt for one with larger pellets too. We're bias, but we really do think our Really Great Cat Litter could be a good option :) That being said, feel free to check out our community forum to get an answer from our certified cat behaviorist or vet, along with other cat parents: www.tuftandpaw.com/community/cat-people/general-discussion
I use Cat’s Best Smart Pellets for both my elderly kitties, it’s great and long lasting if you keep on top of scooping the clumps. Tracking is minimal and so is the smell. I use a top entry litter box for the more spry kitty and a regular box with the more inactive girl which means it tracks more then the top entry.
She really didn't say nothing informative. If you ever owned a cat before these are all things you already know. A lot of the stuff is just common sense
I use plastic 40 qt bin. They are meant for stoage under the bed as in large sweatees or shoes. but work great for my 2 large 14 year old cats. The younger cat has a covered litter box she loves. You have to vaccum every day.
I never understand why you put the litter box in the bathroom. I don’t want to smell that when I do my business or shower or take a bath. Plus they make a mess where I am most likely barefoot. In every apartment I have been in, the only space is right in front of my toilet, u see the towel bar and in front of the shower. There is no other space it will fit.
Although we do feature both our litter and litter box, we certainly hope you found more value in the video than just that! Hopefully anyone is able to apply a few of these tips regardless of whether they're using our brand or not 🙂
If you have land that’s not near fast traffic, let your cat outside. That cuts down on fur, odor, and litter too. They love it, you’ll be happy that they are getting sunshine and nature and opportunities to investigate birds, frogs and lizards. They may have a few run ins with cats or dogs but the sooner you expose them to this and develop their natural fear instincts the better they’ll handle it. I let docile cats hang out, I run off the little jerks that puff up on my cat. If you’re worried because they meander out of your yard, get an AirTag collar. You’d probably find out the are just hiding in a tree that’s along your contiguous fence line with your neighbors. It’s good bird watching for them. If you provide a cozy loving home they will always come back especially girls and usually all fixed cats. We had semi-feral boys and girls we didn’t fix when I was a kid and they hung around for several years and then disappeared. Likely they ran off or were killed by predators. It’s sad but dangerous freedom vs boring safety is the sliding scale you have to figure out. Our current cat is indoor outdoor and she likes to wander the fence line that spans over 40 houses. She likes our backyard bonfires too. She sleeps in my daughter’s loft bed at night and gets up via a cat ladder which is a pole with several platforms to hop from.

We tried the recycled newspaper litter. Sounds great, right? it was horrible!!! Any of you know what wet newspaper smells like? Now combine that smell with wet newspaper covered in cat pee! absolutely horrible. Smelled so bad we threw it on second day,
My cat is a SENIOR , I WOULD NEVER BUY A HIGH OPENING.. HE NEEDS A LOW ENTRANCE.
My cat tracks it across my entire apartment, if I didn’t marry her dad she’d be on my shit list 😂
Lol oh no! What kind of litter are you using?
Anyone have any tips or cat litter for my 18 year old cat? She pees a LOT and the litter keeps getting stuck in her paws. She's gotten sick twice in the last year and had to be given antibiotics. I'm concerned it's because she's licking the litter off her self. Does anyone have success with any type of litter?
For older cats it's best to choose a dust-free, low-tracking litter that clumps and is easy to scoop. To avoid the litter getting stuck in your cat's paws, opt for one with larger pellets too. We're bias, but we really do think our Really Great Cat Litter could be a good option :)
That being said, feel free to check out our community forum to get an answer from our certified cat behaviorist or vet, along with other cat parents: www.tuftandpaw.com/community/cat-people/general-discussion
1:20 it begins
I vacuum every day.
This lady's accent is American but Northern Irish same time.
New cat owner here, which cat litter should I get, so many different kinds 😬😭 I just adopted two kittens
We're big fans of tofu litter! It's a great eco-friendly option that's super low tracking
My cat is open and large and is Unscented. And has a low entrance.
nice! do you notice much litter tracking?
She really didn't say nothing informative. If you ever owned a cat before these are all things you already know. A lot of the stuff is just common sense
i'd rather it's cat-friendly than it being convenient to humans
Why not both? 👀
We use the paper litter and it’s everywhere despite we have cat litter with the hood
🙄Omg lady just tell us already, you dnt give a damn of my cat likes it r not, im just tired of having to sweep it up
I have a very long cat with a very long tail I don't think there's a litter box that size.
Try a concrete mixing bin from Home Depot. About 3.5x 2.5 ft. About 10 inches deep. Very inexpensive.
I use plastic 40 qt bin. They are meant for stoage under the bed as in large sweatees or shoes. but work great for my 2 large 14 year old cats. The younger cat has a covered litter box she loves. You have to vaccum every day.
Very helpful and insightful #contest
I never understand why you put the litter box in the bathroom. I don’t want to smell that when I do my business or shower or take a bath. Plus they make a mess where I am most likely barefoot. In every apartment I have been in, the only space is right in front of my toilet, u see the towel bar and in front of the shower. There is no other space it will fit.
i bought a hidden litter box,it is ueaful
This is basically a covert ad for the litter box and litter (sold by same brand) you are featuring.🙄
Although we do feature both our litter and litter box, we certainly hope you found more value in the video than just that! Hopefully anyone is able to apply a few of these tips regardless of whether they're using our brand or not 🙂
Bro we tried those litters but they get it everywhere
I tried to do pine pellets once my cats wouldn’t even touch it.
How did you approach the transition? A super gradual transition is key when switching to pellets
@@tuftandpaw I put the pine pellets in one litter box and kept the old litter in the other box
Cats get litter in between their paws. so yeah.
They don't have to if you using a litter with larger pellets :)
250 square foot home? Sheesh that makes me claustrophobic lol
This doesn't go far enough, to really get to the source of the tracked litter you have to go to the cat. I replaced mine with a dog, and voila.
An old bath towel is an unsafe recommendation.
Why?
So litter robot is no good?!?
😂😂😂
I HATE CLAY LITTER!!!
