Yes. Timber on right and Partey bench. MLS not playing against Fulham was the right thing. Just imagine if he started and we lost that game then him and the manager would've been hammered and we would've said how naive was Arteta to do that despite it not working against Liverpool...
Yes. He was class today (he has been every games he’s featured in so far) and we need Timber back at right back with Partey back at the base of midfield.
I think MLS getting the start today offers us a good solution to the game management side of things. Partey can be rested allowing rice and merino to start again or if rice needs a rest switching with partey. MLS can do a 90 if his fitness is high enough but it allows timber to revert back to right back where I think he contributes more than at left back. The future is bright for our young guns
@josh8455 so you won't drop Partey for Rice? Why did Arteta sign Merino then? We can't keep giving players 6 months to bed in lol and be next season FC
Credit to Hale end. Saka is literally carrying the club on his shoulders. With more players of his caliber we could be much more confident about winning major trophies. Players like Saka who deliver year after year deserve to be rewarded. We should try not to get too carried away let's just see where we are come May.
Credit to Arteta for fixing our left side (which was the problem v Fulham): Merino, Lewis-Skelly and Martinelli worked well together. Bold management. Good performance. Execellent result against strong opposition.
@Alexandre1453 not versus Everton surely... He tends to botch when a new injury or challenge surfaces. At least today he recognised and responded to problems that surfaced v Fulham. Hasn't always responded so quickly.
Merinos touch was like a trampoline in the match. He’s a decent squad rotation player but in the summer we need an elite left attacking 8 alongside a left winger and striker. One of which, in the forward line needs to be addressed in jan
We're you paying attention? He was awful. Did he do 1 or 2 ok things, sure. He's slow, he loses the ball more than not. I still don't see what he is in this team. Terrible signing. Rumours are edu left because he didn't want him.
I think it’s so important to take it slow with young players and I think this shows why. You wanna build them up over time so when they do step in, they are fully prepared and don’t look out of place. The youth pipeline looks really good for the near future imo.

Now I am not saying teta should play this every game but just to see how it works, I would like him to play zini/mls at lb, rice in dm, timber at rb and 2 cbs in some games (maybe cups), and see how rice does in that setup. What we ve seen today may be the evolution of the team post partey, but need to see how build up will work cause rice is not partey but if he has help on either side may work. If it works, this will remove the need of wingback system that teta doesn't like. The other question is who will be lcm cause merino doesn't look that great there, would be nice to see nwaneri there. Rice in a 6 when we’re dominating possession isn’t good enough. Let’s be honest. Why is he not good enough there? One key thing I encourage you to look out for when our defenders have the ball is Dec’s positioning. All too often he’s hiding / standing behind opposition players.
