Brilliant! Simply put, the Americans make the best engines... light, extremely powerful, compact, whilst being utterly reliable - a great upgrade when installed in any chassis.

Funny thing I had a 08 e90 alpine white M3 sold it bought and 08 vantage and I can confirm how DOG slow the throttle response was and the long gearing.
It just killed the vide sold it at 10k miles. But damn did it feel special.
Just not engaging enough to make you fall in love.
Back to the old school I go.

That thing would be weapon with a Texas Speed 427 SBC! I'm sure it will be stupid enough with the LT engine discussed. Can't wait to see it ripping!
This is a pretty much standard GM engine though, it'll drive really nice. Craig's all about the daily driver life.

how would you go about adapting the length of the torque tube?
Cut & weld the outer. Leave it to the professionals for the drive shaft.

It was broken for parts unfortunately. The engine still exists & is going in a big American truck at some point I think.

Why isn't everyone doing this straight from factory??? save the motor, prime it at at 2600rpm for 100hrs turn in on every 3-4 days. And party in the ls till it explodes, then u switch it out 2-3yrs down the like

This is amazing! I was thinking of converting my DB9 to manual and came to the same conclusion that using the corvette transaxle looks to be the best choice! Will you document the process as you do it? I figured adapting the torque tube and shaft for length would be the hardest part of the process but I think you’ll be the first to figure it out.
Is the Vantage already manual?
Kindred Automotive hi it’s already a manual , I’ve had the torque tube apart and had Martin machine the old bit of tube out of the gearbox end ready to shorten it then I can weld back together again , then I will shorten the prop inside .

V12 bonnet and DBS spoiler would make it very sexy!! but wheel choice i think abit of homework will have to be done to get something that suits maybe apex bbs style staggered 19.95 19.11 in black or gunmetal or silver very nice wheels!! Good luck with the build and future endevours 👍🎅

It’s not a s type engine. The V8 was built and then they tried to fit the V12, the V12 Vantage is a different chassis. Also stop assuming on a AM when you don’t have a single clue about them it’s annoying.

Driftworks just please don’t assume a jaguars derived engine is a jag engine, it’s on the same thing as calling the DB9 V12 being two ford 6 cylinder. The design is similar between the jag v8 and the AM 4.3 V8 but there is barely any shared part between these thus making them actually different. Forgive me if my reply seems rude( just realized) but as an AM owner( both the V8 and the V12) I take it very offensive when people say they are something that they aren’t.
I think Craig was quite fair, saying he didn't know much about the engine.
Driftworks oh well I was actually talking about you making the assumptions. In my opinion Craig’s knowledge on the car is enough to support his work on the conversion project. His knowledge was actually spot on for most. You were the one bringing up the s type and assuming a jag derived engine is equal to a jag produced engine. It’s just the amount of careless that really tips me off, like you called it ‘the Vanquish’ and many other things through the video. I first wasn’t offended with the wrong name called since it is partially AM’s fault of giving many of their cars a ‘V’ name. But there is no way you can say a derived engine is the same as it’s original plan, a similar example would be calling a E60 M5 had an F1 race car engine(which we all know it doesn’t and it’s just a shared engine plan and some parts).
The monster clutch should work well in this, people run them in corvette drag cars and they take a beating

Ever since the RX7 Craig has basically been disappointed with every car he's ever driven. He described the 600hp ESS Supercharged M3 as 'gutless' 😆
are the people in UK big with american v8 swaps? hows that in terms of parts availability and mechanic knowledge about them?
We do a reasonable amount, but it's nothing like the U.S. Craig has done 50 swaps himself now I believe.. Some parts are stocked in the UK. Others we can get in 3 days from the U.S. most of the time.

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should. I've never been one of those people who do things intentionally to make other people disgusted, so I'll never understand this trend of stuffing Chevy motors in everything. How do you recognize an obvious red line, and cross it anyway, deciding to disgrace a great car by literally ripping its heart out and stuffing a potato back in its place. Also, why an LT? I thought all Chevy bro's believed the LS motors were divine gifts to man from whatever deity they subscribe to. Do you have a bunch of LT blocks and heads laying around? Oh, wait - we're talking about the NEW LT4 motor...since I guess GM has limited use of characters to designate it's engines and needed to borrow a designation from a 1990's motor.
Calm down internet man! Each to their own & all that. LT is essentially the new LS btw.

Would love to see it swapped with something other than a LT or LS. But the reality is that these engines are so damn good, that using anything other than a LS/LT is straight up retarded.
