Another honest Video , showing us what can and cant be done , is why youve so many followers that love your vid , keep them coming
We used to sew sunflower with our corn “maize” and it worked very well to up our protein content on the dairy. If I were to bail it judging by how you got on I would under sew oats or rye to help it feed and to dry down the bale a bit
Hi Phil, Sunflowers are harvested using a combine with a sunflower header attachment. Or green stalks are chopped if you use your chopper then you will have silage very good feed. That is how we do it in the USA. If you just want to use them for silage then just chop the crop.
I think the baled stuff is going to rot to wet sunflower seeds don't hold up at all when wet Thay are going to turn to mush!
Great video. Use the finger bar mower to cut the sunflowers next time, maybe they’ll feed into the Fusion a bit better? If that works there’s still a chance that they won’t preserve in the bale anyway… won’t know until you try? Gather up the sunflowers with the triple K and MF6480 to load them into a trailer… don’t put them into the dung heap… likely to have stones as well, dump them in the tillage ground where they’ll rot down and can be scattered with the front loader then ploughed in? Keep up the good work.
Nice one Phil
When it comes to bailing sunflowers the baler is more of a confusion
I think that it's a bit late for cover crops especially in this cold year.
Might be a good idea to blow down the baler in case there is sunflower seeds left on the chassis. I'm sure they would draw the small fellows.
I have made sunflower silage in the past. But just used the forager like maissilage.
Also made bales with a maïs baler the cows like it Allright.
Good luck with everything on the farm this week ahead & thanks for all the videos 👍👍👍
The 2 downfalls of mchale is the distance between the pick up reel and the feed rotor. And the plastic film on the newer bales isn't veery good.
Good material for crows nests
I’ve seen them bales as part of a cereal based mixed summer crop. Peas oats sunflowers triticale red and white clover and millit. They had a front mower on and had the baler on the back.
U answered your question it needs to be dryer. Let it dry down 4 or 5 days
Your problem is you mowed them with a conditioner mower which broke up the stalks rather than laying them down, they would probably feed the same as straw if they weren't broken up as bad
Love the midlands. "A ball of shite," I laughed.
Love your video phill
It was the conditioner that caused the hardship, mowed out flat and u would have worked in no bother
Old welgar rp12 is the best bailer for that job
Any chance you'd buy a belt Phil? I could do without seeing your drawers twice a week !!!!!
😂😂😂😂
He’s jealous Phil,no style
Phil Father Phil will be able to tell you about Trashing out of the stacks in the field Ya could have cut them with the binder
Let the cattle out on them It wasn’t a bad decision, keep er lit 🔥 lad
Ol Paddy doin it Tuf in Oz
Cut the sunflowers with chopper setup for maize or one of your old vintage flail chopper thing's
Sunflowers does cows like to eat them
try using the john deer bailer on the sun flowers
It’s not suppose to bale sunflowers
@@stevennesbitt243 nither is the Fusion lol
@@MsButtons55 that’s what I mean ur not suppose bale it
Should of combined the sunflower
My god you love hardship
Cover crops need to be sowed the middle of August to do any good. Once ya get into September it's an absolute waste of time. I sowed 20ha 3rd and 4th of September and it's 2 inches tall now. Even with that fine week of weather we had still done nothing for it
RYE will grow all winter early bite for the turnout
With that new farm beside the house would you consider a zero grazer?
Was nice to meet you and Liz, last night in the airport, keep the good work up
It will be interesting to see see how the recycled wrap will work out for you guys.
What is the new tractor Phil
I assume anyone baling them in America are using a belt baler and most likely a lot drier too
@@bkeenan32 spot on
You have to try new things, nothing wrong with that .interesting to know how much of the sunflower you can feed the cattle.
I reckon if you gave a shiny parts of that baler a light spray of silicone spray it might save you some hardship in the new year
Claas rotocut would have baled that if raked into windrows.
How come you don’t use the 7618 on the baler ?
Don’t think that fusion has a cutter eh?
It would chop down that stalk but ultimately pull the crop in.
But it’s for oil and seed, waste of time for cattle feed I reckon.
Cover crops sown on end of August onwards a pure waste of your money. Merchants making the money
Because they haven't time to grow?
Is Bertie a Irish polar bear 😂🤣
A KUHN FBP 3135 would of baled that up no botr. A far superior baler than the fusion, fusions not able to feed in the crop which was there problem from day one and still an issue with the fusion 4
???
@karsteinrmuld3478 yes, is there something you want to ask?
Great job on the reseed
I'd say get those cover crops in fast Phil, ideally you'd be getting them into some winter crop stubble but I know ye didn't have that this year!! You'll get a crop but better have it in ASAP to get best from it
Pits allways go faster in front bays
Great video Phil. Enjoyed watching. 👍🏼👍🏼
Could have told you that. The old mchale where clean useless in short grass
Evening!
Should be interesting
A suggestion to help you get new subscribers is by using #hash tags before the descriptions of the video. Examples #Massey Ferguson, #drilling, #using recycled bale wrap, #McCale baler, etc... when people are looking for something they do a search and if they are looking for something like what you have #hash tags on then your site comes up and they then see what you have.
Well come ji
Shame your sunflowers wouldn't bail should definitely have got lee in with his buckrake 😂bet that baler comes back out next year the way its gone in😂
Fusion 4 no problem I would say
Great video
I noticed i sum of you passed videos, thats you have a single rotor rake in your yard, whats your opinion on them, as im looking to upgrade from and old haybob for rowing up
Nothing ventured Nothing gained
Try lower the rpms down for stuff like this
Sunflower looked a challenge to bale.. just think of dooing that with a standard heavy clutch and twine baler.. mind you a chain bar baler might of managed better in that.. stay safe 🏴
at a guess 3 jobs to one sounds like a powerharrow combi drill your after
Tama Is complete dirt, never will use it again, last roll I had I left it back
@@danielcunningham5052 easily ripped
It’s rubbish the year rips like cobwebs
Don't know how that dog slept with all that beeping
Did ye change. A tracto philip
Would you ever get a new fusion ??
Why does he have to get a new fusion that Fusion 2 working away grand and them new fusions theirs no different in them at all only the price if u ask me kuhn are a better baler
@@Paddy6.30 u say kuhns r better when they give a heap of issues and Mchales r sold worldwide
The fusion 4 is a different machine far quicker intake
